I'd love your opinion on something. My fiance and I are getting married on 6th August and have sent off our invites for printing. We're expecting them to arrive next week. Do you think it's too early for us to go ahead send them out?
It's a seaside wedding and I want to make sure everyone's got enough time to book accommodation as it'll be peak tourist season - but at the same time I don't want people think we're being weirdly keen!
What do you reckon?

It's less than 6 Months away, I'd have sent mine out alot earlier if they were ready. We've still not sent them all, as H2B is useless at asking his side of the family for addresses.
Would you believe we don't know the addresses of about half his family. I gave up and raided his phone to speak to people myself. And I asked his mum for the rest. Last batch of invites should be going this week.

You're probably right - it would be preferable to get them out sooner. I guess I shouldn't really worry if guests think we're being too keen - we are quite excited about the whole thing :)

Whovianbride2b - Phew, pleased to know I'm not far behind you or being too keen.
We did save the date emails last month (we only decided to get married back in December so we're having to speed through all the usual planning stages fairly quickly!).
Doesn't look like we'll have the fireworks now, the cost just kept stacking up, but I think his mum wants to pay for some more things for us so we'll see. (our venue is next to stables so they say fireworks have to be quiet one's, completely understandable-which the supplier can do but the packages start a lot higher for the quiet ones and when my MIL started looking at having all the bits she thought we'd want to make it worth while we were looking at a LOT more money) a bit disappointed about the fireworks, but we'll still have a great day and have loads of special touches so not having fireworks isn't really a problem.

Thanks Elizabeth - Yes, very relieved and happy. It's good to know what our boundaries are and that they are still ok to do everything and more really! The phrasing for the invites that's been discussed is: Together with their parents......... are invited to attend pastoral prayers following their civil marriage. However since this morning we've come up with pastoral prayers and music following their civil marriage because it feels a bit more inclusive for everyone particularly the non-churchgoers. What do you think? We emailed them to see if we could have a slight alteration in the wording.
Yes, no. 1 florist is nearby at about 10 minutes drive away whereas the other one is just down the road from my parents but I think we'd prefer to take the slightly further away one. They seemed overall more professional, good industry knowledge and a nice approach as well which the more local one lacked x

Rebecca definitely get your invites out soon, especially with the 6th august being a weekday wedding.
Elizabeth the marriage prep course was very good, except my H2B embarrassed me so much I wanted the ground to swallow me up!! He has the most awful ringtone "me so horny, me love you long time" & before we went in I said make sure your phones off or on silent mode!! We'll an hour into the session his phone started ringing full blast!! Luckily everyone found it hilarious, even the vicar!! It was even worse as prior to that the vicar separated the men & woman for a task, we were given approx 30 words. We had to pick our top 5 & put them in order of importance, typically the men put "great sex life" at the top.

Rebecca; we were going to send our original invites out a year in advance when we were going to get married abroad (Plans had to change but with it being peak time I would definitely recommend you send them out asap so people can book time off and not book other holidays :)

the rest of them No to all your questions Katya, OH says we should invite them but A they wont All come and B the only 2 ikely to come ar ethe 2 I know, He obviously knows them all, Id rather have my friends there all day than relatives i don't know much about never mind that Ive never met them.

I could honestly scream right now..... My father in law is now refusing pointblank to wear the sort of tie we'd like him to wear and is determined to buy his own. We've had to change so much for other people that I feel like it's not even worth it, no-one listens to us or cares about what we want so why bother. Had enough completely :(

I can see why you don't want to invite them, as although you think they won't come it's still a place you have to keep open just in case.
Catherine, why won't he wear it? It's a tie! Leave him to it, if he doesn't want to fit in with everyone else it's him who won't look like he's as important as everyone else on the day!

you can get ties both regular & skinny for less than £2 on the bay. This is where we got ours from. Our best woman was complaining about it too so I made her try the tie on & said if need be we'd get the skinny tie but she has to have the same colour or shes not going to be part of the wedding party. My grandad recently bought a red shirt for the wedding. when i told him we already bought him a red tie that i had shown him recentky he is now saying he'll change the shirt cos i had already spent the money. this is the same guy who hasnt spoken to me for 5wks cos he asked my uncle to be witness rather than waiting for me to ask !

I know it sounds stupid and minor but we are so stressed trying to sort everything out alongside our dissertations and final exams that we don't need the added 'urgh, I don't like that so I won't wear it' problem. I'm majorly OCD and matching/even stuff is part of me but we are already compromising with him - he's wearing a grey suit when everyone else is wearing black, the others are having blue ties and he wants to wear red or yellow, he has got double breasted when everyone else has single breasted.. We just want to scream, stop being selfish, think about us and remember it's our day just occasionally :( It's a simple request and it's the only thing we've asked of him except turning up!

Oh she's as exasperated with him as me! We've told him he won't match and his retort is that 'oh well you don't have match'... Yes true BUT WE WANT YOU TOO so please comply but noooo, that's too much to ask apparently despite having having matching suits etc. at his wedding 30 years ago!

She tried but he never listens unless it's the sound of his own voice, personal experience with him! He was even snobby about the material, must be silk because apparently polyester is cheap tat... That was all we could afford so got a little upset and offended as he can be quite cutting and rude in his remarks :(

I really dont understand why people have to make things difficult for you. its your wedding and would it really hurt them to do as you ask for one day. i would be so frustrated too we shouldn't have to change things for other people unless deemed necessary.
