I got my dress off of ebay and it needs a few alterations and a dry clean! I have no idea whether to have someone d my make up or do my own and buy some nice make up. And dont even start on my hair - i wanted a messy side bun but i also want a floor length veil - the 2 dont seem to go!

    I've just booked my hair/makeup.

I'm just not good enough to do it myself.
Not quite sure what style I want, keep thinking part up and really curly.
I've got lots of pics, trouble is I recently had a hair disaster!

My hair was really long, and I went for a trim. Only the hairdresser completely ignored me and cut too much off.
I went mad... I was actually shouting at her in the salon! She cut about 8 inches more than I asked for, and now I hate my hair!!! With only 8 months left to the wedding I'm worried it won't grow enough for the style I wanted on the day... Tempted to make the stupid hairdresser pay for me to have extensions.

It's now shorter than shoulder length and I had been growing it (it was almost elbow length!!!)
    I'm frurious!!!

    That's gorgeous Catherine!

Mrsrobson2b she didn't say much. I think she was really shocked that I shouted.
I've been going to that salon for 9 years, always loved my hair when it's done, but this girl was quite new.

I'm not sure what she was thinking I meant by a trim to keep it healthy, about 2 inches or so. Next thing I knew there's a pile of hair on the floor and I jumped out of the chair shouting.

Normally costs me about £50 for a cut there, but I refused to pay. Then I insisted someone else finished it off. I won't be going back there again!

Been having a look through how how are day will run and we are thinking that a 1pm ceremony might work a bit better rather than a 2pm ceremony as it will give us a bit more leeway! x

How does this timeline look? Anything we've forgotten/need more time for? Anything that doesn't work well?

    07.00/08.00 – Hair (10 people)
    08.00 – Boys to COSTA!
    09.00 – Make-up (possibly 5 people)
10.30 – Boys leave to collect flowers (5 miles drive away)
11.30 – Dresses on/photos at house on the patio
12.10 – Leave house for church (approx. 40 mins)
12.50 – Outside church photos/meet rest of bridal party
    13.00-13.45 – Church ceremony
    13.45-15.00 – Photos/ice-cream at church
15.45 – Arrive at gardens opposite hotel for romantic photo shoot
16.00-16.10 - Guests to arrive at hotel/we return
16.10-17.00 – Arrival drinks and canapés
    17.00-19.30 – Dinner/speeches (speeches before/after depending on time)
19.30-20.00 – Change over/band and caricaturist to arrive
    20.00 – First dance/ceilidh starts
    21.30 – Music break/cake cutting/buffet brought out
    21.30 - More ceilidh
    23.30-00.00 – Ceilidh finishes/say goodbyes/bed!

Looks good to me Catherine hun, I was trying to work mine out the other day, backwards as to when I need to book my hair.

Wedding at 2pm need to be there at least 15 mins before for checks
Take 15-20 mins get there doo give myself 30 mins - 1.15
so 15 for a few photos
Been adviced to give myself 1 hour to get into dress brings me to 12pm
1 hour for my make up (which my bm is doing)- 11
    20 mins breathing space/walking from hairdressers (5 mins up road) - 10.40
1 hour for my my hair - 9.40 ( junior and fg after as they don't need make up.
30 mins for each bm x3 ? 8.10? That sounds really really early, do thos predictions sound right?

I don't get married til 3pm and my hair/make up artist has given a recommended time of 9:15 to start doing hair and make-up which I thought was waaayyyyy too eearly. But as there is only her doing my hair and make up, 2 adult BMs hair and make-up, junior BM hair and MoB make-up apparently this is about right; so I reckon that sounds fair Whovian.

I haven't even started thinking about the breakdown of the day really yet, guess I better make a start on that haha! x

Looks good to me. Our ceremony at 3pm, told hair and make up people I want to be done by 2ish so I can get dress on and lots of photos etc, and taking into account 3 adult BMs need hair and make up and also my mum they suggested starting at 9. Scary! Looking at it my mum may have her hair done elsewhere and do her own make up so we may be able to bump back to 10am.

I haven't really thought about on the day timescales.

We're going to an open evening on the 12th to show my cousin our venue, then a meeting with the photog on 31st then I have nothing to look forward to til after Christmas. I've been thinking about starting my fittings in January as well.

Thanks ladies, appreciate your help. Sorry I haven't been around much but we've just into our first new flat together EEK! Lived together previously but this is the first time just us two and it's BLISS! Downside is that there is no internet until 10th October boo :(

Thinking about going to do our giving notice soon which seems a really scary prospect but exciting too. Not sure whether to book the appointment yet as our church still isn't registered yet although they are doing all the forms etc so I don't know whether the registry office would accept us/be able to process it if it's not registered as a marriage venue? Not sure if they need somewhere to put on the forms when they interview us?

Bit annoyed that we had to change our ceremony time as I was loving the 2pm ceremony but on the plus side, an extra hour in our dresses so I can't really complain I guess lol. Just waiting to hear back from the vicar that it's ok to bring the service back but that shouldn't be a problem.. Downside on that though is that we are having to do all our invitations again because of the time change. Was really pissed off the other day as I went onto the printing vista site to find the template we'd used has been discontinued and upgraded so I'm having to do them ALL again

Looking forward to seeing pics of your BM dresses.

Amanda I would get your flowers booked soonish especially if you want fresh so you get a reputable florist. What do you still have to organise?

Having a chat with h2b about wedding stuff and he has suggested doggie Maclean - Caledonia for our first dance. It fits our theme seeing as it's very Scottish I'm. Is thinking about it :-)
