loving the engagment shoot, I recently discovered that there are alot of (more or less) full ceremony videos on youtube, by just searching civil ceremony wedding uk. which as I have only ever been to one ceremony when I was 9 and can't remember that much, give you a good idea of how they go. which I have found very educational, while planning my ceremony in my head

    Gorgeous photo Catherine

good idea to watch the ceremony's online.. We're having a Church wedding but I can't decide how many readings or hymns to have, we've picked 3 songs.... is that enough? readings we haven't looked at yet but I was thinking maybe two?

Thanks Catherine, we did well on the hymns then, wasn't too hard to pick them though, we wanted nice upbeat one's.... Haven't looked at reading yet, but to be honest I don't plan on doing so as that can be something for us to chose closer to the time... we need to make sure we leave something for next year ;)

We booked what were having from our venue dressers yesterday so waiting on an email with finalised quote.

Roughly 60 sashes (chair covers included in venue), 8 ostrich feather centre pieces with tall vases, mirrored plates and scatter crystals, and our top table and cake table swag.

The guest book we want is out of sock until mid June :/

We got this a couple of weeks ago :)

Oh its a very long story involving public liability insurance and needing lights from somewhere if i don't use the venues resident DJ. The band we are having are good friends so have given us mates rates, but that doesn't include lighting as they only have full show lights which cost more to run alone than the quote they have given me.
And my other band has lights but no PLI.

Well I've officially finished 2nd year at university today and to to celebrate, I've been in and had a wonderful time yet again at my dress shop!! I went in to try on veils to see which length to order from a certain veil lady - Definitely going with the full length 126" as it looks beautiful with my dress :) went for a different style I thought - Completely plain but with waterfall crystals on it to pick up the detailing on the belt!! The only problem is that I don't think having a musical note veil would really work now as the detailing would look right on it :/ but, we did start chattering about sleeves as I want sleeves put on and eventually we came to the conclusion that I am going to have a lace overlay over the top bodice bit with sleeves rather than a bolero or just sleeves added. The lady who helped me pick my dress knows me to a tee - Picked out my dress, knew exactly which veil I'd go for before I arrived AND knew exactly what I meant when I was telling her our ideas after veil trying - It's guna look goooooorgeous!!!!!!!!! :D I have attached a couple of photos of my fiancee in the dress as the smaller size in ivory doesn't fit me as they only have the burgundy in my size but I wanted to get an idea of what it would look like!! Going to be a vintage, classic look but very me.... PLUS, I still love my dress.... Result :D :D :D xxx

talking about veils im not sure if i want one or not. I thought I did but then my sister said why do you want a veil when getting married at a hotel. This confused me and I was starting to think they were only appropriate for church weddings but in the back of my mind I want one, but at the same time I don't want every ones negative comments. What do you ladies think?

Amanda, I don't think veils are just for Church weddings. I've only been to two weddings, one was a Church wedding and one when I was younger and I can't remember it.... but if I went to a hotel wedding I would not think twice about the bride having a veil on... in fact I think I'd be more likely to notice if she didn't.
I would still have a veil if I were getting married in a hotel, don't worry about what your sister said, have what you want.

I'm going to after half term :) I got some colour samples from an online company as my dress isn't white but a very pale shade of ivory, so difficult to match!

I definitely wouldn't associate veils with only church weddings. I'm getting married in a castle and I'm wearing one.

Had a fantastic idea for my Alice in Wonderland wedding to give a little bit of "OOoooooh" factor. Both my partner and I can get very crafty when we set our minds to it... SO... after recently seeing someone perform an an amazing trick to create an infinity mirror using 2 way glass with normal glass and LED lights set into a box frame we're going to do the same thing but instead of having a normal mirror on the inside to bounce the LED lights we're going to have the table plan.

Imagine your the guest coming into the reception and you see a vintage mirror and a sign near it inviting you to come forward, unbeknown to you when you've stepped in front of the mirror you've stood on a pressure pad turning on the LED lights hidden inside the frame reversing the 2-way effect of the mirror and revealing the table plan. Viola!

Well now we've finished uni for the year, we've finally found the time to sit down and properly decided on what we want for our wedding we originally thought we'd have our favourite colour; royal blue with ivory but we've decided that as we are having an August wedding, that's going to be a bit too heavy. We also have the problem of SO many different BM sizes ranging from size 4 all the way up to size 26 so not exactly easy! We've decided to go with pastel colours for our colour scheme instead and dress them each in a different colour! They can choose their dress (with guidance obviously so they all gel nicely together!) which means they can keep them but also the style that suits their figure making the day a very relaxed, gentle, calm feel we want... Summery, light and simple :D we going to have butterflies, Harry Potter and music all incorporated into the day as those are all very important parts of our relationship so I'm very happy that we've sorted that as we can sort other stuff now! Been busy drawing up cake designs we'd want, choosing HP names for our tables and researching other items for the wedding like HP banners for our top table! xx

Here's a picture of what we were thinking - Lemon, mint, pale blue, rose, cream and lilac for the bm's :)

Went and saw our venue again yesterday too and it's funny how you forget little things, like it's bigger than I remember lol. Got room all measured up for ceiling draping and mood lighting - has really given me the buzz I've been missing last few weeks. That and sending my save the dates ☺

Loving the mish mashy pastel bridesmaids Catherine!
I asked my best friend from uni to be a bridesmaid and her (now 5 month old but will be 20 months by the wedding) daughter to be flowergirl, unsuprisingly they both said yes, well the little one just smiled at me and threw the card around so taking that as a yes :)
We have an appointment next weekend at our reserved venue to speak with the wedding coordinator to make sure we are completely happy before we put the deposit down.
The photographer we originally wanted to go with is over £1200, so we have realised we can't quite afford him. Have been looking around and found a local woman who did a school friends wedding last year who does the sort of thing we are after, thank god for f@cebook! Have got a quote from her which is very reasonable so that is looking positive!

I really want to do maths with physics, I'm not sure if I could handle the physics though, so working through the AS/A-level stuff at the moment and going to see how if I can get my head around it all before signing up, if not I'll do mathematics. I'm working through a book to take you from GCSE to A-level this week and seem to be getting on great with that, when it comes to the A-Level stuff I'm just going to look at the stuff I'll be doing in the degree though, doubt I'll get through the whole 2 years in 4 months haha.

I did the online test to see whether I was ready and it says I do have sufficient knowledge though.

Hoping I'll qualify for a student loan to cover the tuition fee's otherwise we'll just have to find the money somewhere else, which can be done as I'd just have to pay monthly

Wow maths and physics - you must be really brainy lol. Maths was my worst, and probably still is, subject so admire anyone who does it at degree level.

Studying and wedding planning? I take my imaginary hat off to you ladies!
I graduated 4 years and couldn't imagine trying to plan a wedding at the same time.

Haha, thanks!! We've been doing our planning through our 2nd year, we graduate next year in May/June 2015 time and then get married less than 3 months later in August 2015.... It's certainly a challenge!! We are doing the majority of the planning this year so that come 3rd year, we can concentrate on dissertations etc and seems to be working as last week we confirmed our last big thing and now it's just smaller things like BM dresses, suits, decor and stuff like that :D

Oh yes, I remember now Donna - I know Physics is tough though as a friend of ours is doing Physics at Loughborough and she's struggling even with A-Level Physics... A-Level Maths is impossible and Debbie gave up lol but if it says you are at the right level you must be amazing!! :D xx

I got my A-Level maths, it's just the physics I don't have, I dropped it for sociology and have always regretted not doing it. Which was why I was unsure on doing the maths and physics.... but I passed the test and the head of physics at my fiancé's school seems to think I could do it. Not sure when I need to make the decision and sign up though, as I need to apply for a loan for my tuition fee's as well.

I have a physics book to bridge the gap between GCSE and A-level which I started last night and will finish this week.... after that I'm going to just look through the bits which I'll be covering at degree level to see if I can get my head around it. I know I don't have as long as if I was doing an A Level, but to be fair I do just need to get my head around it and don't have to worry about all the bits like coursework ect. It will also get me into studying mode before my course starts ;)

Got the suits changed to the right colours today and the in laws have said they'll pay for them.
