Well this morning I had a call from the 'New' wedding co-ordinator and she seems lovely, she just wanted to touch base that nothing was changing etc just that people had moved department and she was now in charge of all events. She has really put my mind at ease and im looking forward to working with her. :)

I'm joining you all on the new wedding coordinator club :/

I had a funny feeling, as they were advertising for a second wedding coordinator on facebook. With all you talking about people moving I started to wonder and I have just received an email from ours saying she is leaving next week.

I don't know how I feel, she was really nice, but so is everyone else there so I'm sure whoever they appoint will be great as well.

Well one of my bridesmaids is thinking of applying for the position at mine haha....

She doesn't think she'll get it though as she doesn't have much experience, she's just done her wedding planning course and has loads of enthusiasm though. I told her she might as well at least speak to them and see what they say. Would be great if she got it as she'd have to move back up here lol ;)

I'm not too worried, I'm sad to see her go, but the events coordinator who is taking over until they fill the position is lovely too and I'm sure whoever else they get will be just as nice, it's that sort of place everyone was great when we went to visit.... we even bumped into the owner who showed us around and told us about all the renovations they'd done ect. and he was lovely, so can't imagine them getting someone who doesn't fit in with the rest of them.

    Fab news Amanda

I'm on a proper wedding downer at the moment & questioning the amount of money were spending (could we have put it to better use!!). We went through our wedding budget last night & worked out that we have paid off almost 5k worth already but there's still another 4k to go & that's if everything costs what we've estimated, plus honeymoon, stag & hen doos on top!!
Maybe it's better to just ignore what it's costing, I was fine before we totalled it all up lol

    It's scary how much it's costing isn't it :/

Although I'm glad we're spending what we are. I only plan on doing this once and neither of us want any regrets after the day, before we got engaged we both said we wanted a cheap wedding, we'd seen a venue that was £2,000 with most things included and we were pretty sure we were going there. But when we got engaged we both changed our minds, we fell in love with another venue and decided we wanted to go all out and not go silly (no ice sculptures for us haha) but to have all the things we want... like a live band (at the original venue we weren't allowed live music) and the venue of our dreams.

I think as a couple you have to do what's right for you, there is nothing wrong with having a lower budget wedding and there is also nothing wrong with having a higher budget one, as long as you do what is right for you :) same as planning, some people like years to plan, others are happy with months.

Donna I find it scary how similar we bothare before we got engaged I said we could get married for £2k (Which we so could do) But I love my venue and that's costing almost £6k alone I cant look at the total on our spreadsheet I just try to get things below our estimate and that makes me feel good all in all without a honeymoon stag and hen we are looking at £15k I hate writing that as it freaks me out. But its a once in a lifetime we are going to do this and we want to do it the way we want. As shallow as it may seem I hope most people give us a cash gift so we can afford a honeymoon.

Even though it could be a good idea to put the costs to the back of your mind, you have to be realistic and try to stick to your budgets. There's nothing worse than going into a marriage with a load of debt. You can have a lovely day for any amount of money you just have to shop around abit more or DIY most things.
Saying that our budget is steadily growing and needs reigning in abit but we have the advantage of planning from 18months prior to the wedding so have longer to pay for finer luxuries

Agree Amanda, we can save for what we have so far and that's if we go for everything on the list chances are we will cut it by a few grand. It doesnt matter how big or small the budget it is each couple do things differently, Im trying to save as much as possible from our budget. We wont be going into a marriage with any debt for us that's not an option.

I know a couple that had 10k on a credit card after their wedding and less than two years later it wasn't paid off but they were getting divorced. (I know that doesn't happen all the time)

Yeah, we've had 18 months to save (from engagement to wedding) I also agree I wouldn't go into debt for the wedding. We've only put deposits on things we either already have the money for or know we can save the money before the payment is due.

We are the same, 18 months engagement to save up, original budget was about 5k, my dad then said he'd pay half of whatever our final bill is...and encouraged us to go higher saying he'd help.

We are now looking at an estimated 13k as the venue is £8500 and my dress came in at £1300.

Good old dad has given us 7k no questions asked and said we shouldn't have to skimp on having more people there if that's what we want!!!!

I'm still trying to reign in costs and come in under budget, Chris is going all out and trying to spend as much as possible on ridiculous things that no one would notice if it wasn't there.

Very lucky ladies indeed, we are paying for everything ourselves except for the food (dads paying). We always said we only plan on getting married once so we'd go all out & get everything we wanted, but when you are physically paying out thousands its hard not to think its all a waste of money!!
Maybe I'm seeing it differently because were paying everything outright, whereas if we just put deposits down here, there & everywhere it wouldn't be such a scary amount!!
Anyway over half is paid off now so I'm going to have to ignore the costs lol, hopefully we only have another 5 months maximum of saving every spare penny, then we can relax!!

Amanda, we put a poem on our wedding site in the gift list section asking for donations to honeymoon! It was really well received.

Most importantly, we request, you come to our Wedding.
To share with us our special day, and have some fun along the way.

We've lived together quite a while with all our pots and pans,
And as we don't need homely gifts we've got another plan!

Our house is full of all the things a couple could require,
And so a holiday away is what we most desire.

We know it's not traditional but an awful lot more fun,
To have items on our wedding list to help us catch some sun!

Don't go out shopping or get yourselves stressed,
Don't bankrupt yourselves, just because you're our guest.

If you want to be generous, despite what we've said,
Then save all the hassle and do this instead.....

So if you'd like to give a gift and send us on our way
A donation to our honeymoon would really make our day!!

Then while we're relaxing on the beach, or by the pool so blue
We'll sit back and know that this is truly thanks to you!

Also i want the venue dresser to have a look around let me no what he can do as the venue has so many rules. She even pilled her face when i mentioned children upon our first meeting prob is i love the venue and its scenery. Yet there proving difficult when it comes to communication.. My invitations have a link and password to our wedding website, and I've put the poem in the gift list page instead of a link to a list.

For those (older) not so internet savvy family members we added it as a separate sheet (almost like a with compliments style slip) in the invitation.
