A Sgian dubh for his kilt outfit, he's wanted a real one for ages so think its suitable as he will wear it on our wedding day.

I'd say its fine to pick those things up as you see them and then you won't feel like your spending such a huge amount at one time x

I was thinking about getting my h2b a jig-saw for our wedding present.... but I might let him have one for Christmas or his birthday instead...

Need to have a think about what I do want to get him though, if I get him the saw then I'll get him some other things as well.

He's just ordered me some cow boy boots for my birthday :D he was going to get them as a surprise but wanted to check I liked them. Can't wait to get them and try them on.

I really want to get my h2b a watch to open on the morning of the wedding, with a tag saying see you at 4pm dont be late. I saw it on p!ntere$t & loved it, hes always wanted a nice watch but wont spend much on himself, so it would be a nice treat. Its just a case of wether I can afford it with everything else we have to pay for.

Leasa that's soo expensive! We've got a silver rolls Royce and a silver Daimler taking us from my house to the church
(15 mins) and from the church to the venue (20 mins) and for both it's cost us 535?

Congrats Natalee on winning the photography! :) Nice to see one of us 2015 brides winning!

I'm really unsure on what to get my h2b as his present! He doesn't wear jewellery and watches I was thinking about maybe a 4x4 off roading experience or something similar?
He's really into his driving lol.

We have just booked an appointment to go and see our photographer and my hairdresser and pay the photographers first instalment on Monday! So excited to go and see some pictures of things they have done!

Leasa I agree with AqTi that your car quote seems high, are they from they same company as they usually offer a discount when using 2 cars. We are having 2 vintage rolls royces at a cost of £780, they will pick the boys up 1st & take them to the church, back for myself & the girls to take us to the church, then onto the reception venue & they are collecting us at the end of the night to take us to the hotel. Our quote for a vintage rolls & a Daimler was £650, I was really shocked at the car costs. AqTi yours is an absolute bargain, I got quotes from all over & none of them came in that cheap.

Keira we were shocked when they offered us both cars at that price!
It's an older couple who just do it as a hobby! Lol! They just wanted an excuse to keep fancy cars that they've always wanted!
They have this massive house with giant garages built in their back garden for the cars! That price also includes a personalised ribbon with our names and the date on for the rolls x

really excited today. I committed to going to see the transport im wanting for the wedding after many weeks of debating whether it maybe too early or not. Anyway I've just got back and Im so glad I went as dates for next year are going like hot cakes. The company is run by an older gent and his wife and they are so lovely, honest and reliable, in fact I was there for over an hour just talking through our wedding plans hahaha. They know so much about wedding planning its great and they mentioned things to me that id over looked and never thought about. I'm also very pleased with the price and they have given me my wedding mojo back as i was beginning to get down about it all

    Thank you Aqti and Keira,
I agree it's too high, so I showed him your posts!
I've managed to stop him putting the deposit down as I thought it was really expensive and could get better quote for similar...although They were cheaper than a previous quote for cars.

It turns out in this area, they hire them out to other companies so it's the same cars I pictured, but they all charge different prices.

We live in Hertfordshire on outskirts of London, and wedding/reception is in Camden...where his parents live

Hope you manage to get a better quote Leasable, thankfully cars aren't something we are bothering with as I'm staying at our venue the night before and h2bs best mate has offered to drive him on the day.
Went trying some dresses on last night (I know mines ages away but got carried away at wedding fair last weekend &booked an appointment lol), really liked one but it's WAY over budget :-(. Got a nice surprise when I got home last nite , had an email telling me I'd won a £150 voucher from a place that does bespoke brooch bouquets, haircombs accessories etc!

Brooch bouquets are stunning, congrats on winning one.

I have no idea what to do about invites, I thought I'd want to send them early 2015... but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if that's a good idea. For one it gives people more time to moan about who got a plus one and who didn't (I've already had people talk about that after save the dates have been sent out)

I want to give people plenty of time but not too much time, also if it's ages off do people put of RSVP-ing thinking they have ages.... my venue need numbers (and final payment) by 2 months before, which would be June 8th..... I'm thinking now about maybe getting invites sent out late April/early May with RSVP date for end of May.... possibly even saying the 1st June and then that gives me a week to chase people up if they haven't responded and get money and numbers to the venue? Does that sound okay... or should I be sending them before that?

I'm sending mine out in April and want them back for the end of April that way if people decline I have time to bump up people from the evening without them really knowing. My cousin gets married in May so I can't really have them too close to his wedding and I can't leave it until after as it won't be enough time.

I'm putting an RSVP by date so people know they have to reply by that time and hopefully they will. I would send them out earlier Donna a week is a short time period to chace people of they don't reply.

Instead of people having time to moan about not having a plus one it gives them time to get used to the idea that they don't have one.

I'm thinking about six months before for invites as the majority of our guests will have to book flights. We're having all of our guests for the whole day, have spoken to a lot of our friends and explained that although they don't have plus ones, one or more of their close friends are invited, and everyone seems perfectly happy with that, plus ones are only going to people who don't know anyone else well!

Feel a bit un-weddingy at the minute, really looking forward to it and wanting to sort more stuff out.... but I think we've reached a point where there isn't really much more we can do.

There is a wedding fayre at our venue next weekend on the 18th :D cannot wait for that.... hopefully that might give us some idea's of what we can be getting on with as well. We have friends over this weekend but the next time we're free I might see about buying the extra bit's for our invitations and just suggest having a play about to decide how we are going to make them... I know we don't have to make them yet but I think it's an idea to at least know how we want them to look, will also give us an idea of how long we need to give ourselves to make them too.

On a slightly unrelated note, there has been another quite big family fall out this week... which although it doesn't involve us has made us realise we don't want to invite family just because they're family, they can all have evening invites but only the family we are close to and who make the effort with us (and vice versa) are getting day invites, as we were at the point where people we wanted at the wedding were getting pushed to the evening. This has sort of opened our eyes and reminded us how volatile families can be anyway.

That's the point we are at too Donna, I've got a plan of what we need to do, June is BM dresses, then the coaches and the guys kilts at the end of the year. Then it's just the little bits (or at least that's what I hope lol).

We have had a play about with invites and we know roughly what we want and how to do it (until I change my mind).

Sadly I'm in the same position with family my auntie and cousins couldn't go to my sisters engagement party a month after mine purely because it was at the other end of the city. Me oh and other cousins all live this side of the city too and my sister always goes to their events and it has cause a rift between the whole family. We decided months ago that only family that we see/bother with us will be at the wedding all day and the rest will be evening if anyone doesn't like it then tough I'd rather my friends be there than family that don't bother with us. X

we are having the same sort of thing. My OH has a very small family about 10 in total, but his sister has already said that if we invite HER eldest son and his girlfriend, then her, her husband and their son wont be coming. OH has already asked his nephew to be second Best Man (in order to help OH eldest son who is BM). So makes OH family only 6, we are obviously wanting to invite more of OH friends to the day. Then we come to my family, I have a massive family where I have loads of cousins and they have children theirselves. I would love all of them there but we do not have the room during the day. We have catered for 50 people during the day. I am happy to invite aunts and uncles to the day and cousins to the night, but they will all be travelling from England while I am in Scotland. To be honest I am not sure that they would make the journey, but I feel that if they are not invited it will cause all host of trouble. My cousin got married last year and clearly said no children, I was obviously unhappy about this as my son was only a few months old, I had made the trip to England without my OH so there was no one else to look after my son. In the end a compromise was made, but that was only because the reception venue was my mums house!!!. So I am going with no cousins during the day but they can come at night if they want to travel xxx

I think if you invite them to the evening then that's their choice whether to come or not, they could always travel with their parents and then all the cousins do something together during the day of your wedding before making their way over to the evening do together. Personally if I was one of your cousins in that situation I would come up.

My wedding co-ordinator changed in December and I've yet to meet her. We made a rather large chunk of the payment for the venue today so I'm £3200 lighter, but one step closer to my big day!

It is a bit unsettling having the planner change part way though, but as long as you get to meet her and get on with her I'm sure it'll all be fine Elizabeth...
But saying that, I'm a bit nervous too as I really liked the one we had

Hi girls. A little off topic and I can't find the threads but a few people lately have been looking for children's favours. I've come across a website with a few on, check my wall for the link x

I'm sure it will all be fine just a bit I settled, the woman that was dealing with my wedding was the wedding and events manager but she is now on maternity leave and the new woman Lynn has been promotes to wedding, events and sales manager. The first woman Jen was due back in October but now I'm not sure if she will be back or in what capacity. I just want to meet the new ladies dealing with my wedding as the whole dept has changed faces. The other girl that was available to me has now went to work in reception.

It can only be a good thing in my eyes as the original coordinator was a bit snooty but we could see last that and know she is good at her job. The hotel has won a lot of awards not just wedding related and they are going from strength to strength but still a bit unsettled. Once I meet Lynn I'm sure I will be fine or once Jen is back from mat leave either way I know the hotel will do all it can't for our big day.

Thanks for link April some of those things are quite cool.
