Apart from work or concerts, I literally live in flip flops. I didn't wear them in December and January because of the cold and floods but come the end of Jan/beginning of Feb I was back in those bad boys! :D x

I love heels, but I can also wear flats, my mum keeps getting on at me not to buy too big heels as I'll be uncomfortable, but its not always the case, I wore massive heels to my friends wedding and was on my feet all day and had no issues what so ever :) but I won't be going for massive one's anyway as would like my fiancé to look taller then me on pictures

@Lana - I am going to keep my wedding dress at the shop until a week before when it will go to my friends - can't have OH peeking at it lol. I don't know how the whole fittings and alterations part works. I know that the shop will be doing the alterations though.

I too have a pair of heels but I definitely need to break them in and practice. I was tempted to get a lower pair for the evening but wouldn't this then make the dress too long or does it not matter by then. x

Ahhh had a call from the bridal store I ordered my dress from. Thought it couldnt possibly be in already. Nope. They are closing their local shop and moving it all to their Weston-super-Mare shop, a 45 minute drive away. Grrrrrr! Apparently its only because the local shop was too small and not because they are in financial difficulties - I asked them direct! The lady did say I could take my dress away when it comes in and take it elsewhere for alterations, but think id rather use their in-house team. Just means I will need 2-3 trips to WSM before the big day. Was also going to get my bridesmaid dresses from them, as I get 10% off, but know what a pain it would be for my girls to get there for fittings etc. Now im convinced its a bad oman and things are slowly doing to start crashing down around me

Interesting you are all thinking shoes now. Was only looking online last night. Bit disheartened though as couldnt find what I was looking for.

@paula, I have two different height shoes im most likely going to have my dress altered to the shorter ones, as then less likely to fall over my dress walking down aisle and will show off my blue heels.but will only be a inch or so at front higher. But will take both pairs in when I go for my fitting.

@charlie, i would not take it as a bad omen, the shop you choose is so successful and popular they are having to get new premesis. You could always find a local seemstress to do your alterations.

Well we've just got back from the shop who have offered to get my dress for the cheaper price and WOW! The lady was the nicest woman I've come across in the business, we feel so comfortable ordering my dress through her. She was so knowledgeable and kind but didn't push her products/sale down our throats so the ball is totally in our court! The best part - She will do my dress for £999 at the longer length, with sleeves and the corset so if I wanted the extra length on the train, the most I'd have to pay extra is about £60 which is even better! All I have to do is hope that when I go to try it on again tomorrow, I still love it! Very successful day so far :) xx

Catherine I hope you still love the dress when you try it on again today.

I'm off to my venue later for afternoon tea with my sister looking forward to it as she hasn't seen the venue yet, I'm hoping the function room isn't in use so I can show her round, the hotel have their wedding fayre tomorrow so the chance of the room being in use today is slim but we shall see once we get there.

I've decided on a mid heel for my shoes so they are comfortable all day. Will still get flats too.

they are glass coasters and was going to get one for my parents and my sister to go with their thank you gifts, they don't do a mother of the groom one tho so don't know if I should just get a mother one for mil (although I don't think she deserves anything as she doesn't help out and won't help in any shape or form with the wedding) but I'm not that petty I was thinking get the coaster and a personalised candle for the mums instead of flowers as they don't like flowers

I love the coaster and candles idea, could you post on my wall where they're from? We're doing little gift bags for everyone with bits in as thought it would be nicer to get that then try and get one big special thing for people, sometimes the little things mean a lot more.

Good luck trying the dress on again Catherine, hope it still feels amazing (I'm sure it will) I'm jealous, I have to wait until next week.

Hi ladies, thanks for the good luck wishes but tbh I'm not sure now. I tried it on and I didn't get that 'wow' feeling again, maybe I was so excited, so in love with it and thinking about the varying opinions from others that I wasn't able to enjoy it? I don't know what to think as I adored it last weekend but when I tried it a second time, I just thought 'looks nice'! so I'm a bit confuzzled! I think I'm more upset that I don't love it as much than upset that I don't love the dress on me if that makes sense...... What should I do ladies? I've spent over 6 months searching for a dress that a) suits me b) I can afford and c) that I love and now it feels like I'm back to square one as I'm a big girl and there's only a few shops I can try dresses on. There's only so many dresses that are suitable too!!!! :( xx

Catherine, don't be too upset. Maybe it's not the dress, but maybe like you say you got caught up in the excitement and were expecting too much from it. Personally I think it's probably not the one, if that's the case just be glad you didn't put your deposit down last weekend, imagine if it came to your first fitting and you didn't feel as good about it.

All I can suggest you do is leave it a few weeks.... a month or so maybe with a break from trying dresses on and then go back, try on some different one's and try that one on again and see how you feel again? What did everyone else think of it?

I'm off to a wedding fair today as well, one of the big one's :) hoping to see some florists.... although I have seen some really cheap artificial one's which I'm tempted by if they can do them in my colours as people on here have said they look great.... I've been put off cheap one's a little as I've seen photo's of someone elses wedding who had artificial one's and they looked artificial :/ but I've also seen plenty of artificial one's which look great.

Hi all. I am getting married on 24th September 2015 and this forum is great to see where everyone else is at when planning a wedding that feels so far away. I panic and just want everything organised and booked although I need to hold back as I'm scared that I change my mind or see something nicer plus I haven't won the lottery yet so that holds me back too.

At the moment I have booked my venue, which has a fantastic package which includes chair covers, table centrepieces, cars, dj, accommodation etc and I have booked my photographer. I have started looking at dresses but not seen any that wow me yet (one has come close) but scared to make the final decision.

What has everyone else found the easiest decision and the hardest decision to make so far?

Hi Joanne, I am getting married on 7th November 2015. So far we've booked the venue, photographer, singer for the evening and venue dresser. The hardest thing so far has been the venue as there are so many places! The easiest was the singer, have heard him sing several times so knew we had to book him. Next to book will be the florist I think, also sorted who will be doing my hair and make up. Haven't started dress shopping yet as I want to lose a bit of weight first lol! Think I may be the same as you bout being able to make a final decision, I'll probably be worried I'll change my mind :-/ xx

Hi ladies and welcome :) hope you find this forum as useful as us!

Thanks Donna.. Thanks for the words of advice. I'll leave it a while, it's just a shame as I truly loved that dress last week and the logical part of me looks at it and thinks that's beautiful and give me a lovely shape but the other part that should say 'wow' doesn't! Annoying! Debbie, her sister and Mum thought it was stunning and still loved it though which is confusing... I think my problem is that I can't get the satin dress out of my mind, I always wanted a satin and maybe it's trying to tell me I will regret it if I don't have that? xx

    welcome to the thread Joanne

I wouldn't worry about it Catherine, you know where it is if you want to go back to it :)

I'm starting to have second thoughts about mine as well, not because of how it looks but because of the extra money it will cost :/ there is so much more we need to pay for, really want to have a unforgettable honeymoon as well.... I think we need to see if we can save some more pennies, but oh isn't so sure as he thinks we can do it all without-but I am starting to worry. We're asking for money towards the honeymoon instead of gifts as we've been living together for almost 4 years now, so have most of what we need and own our own house, but obviously don't want to assume how much we'll get towards it so only want to book something that we can afford without any money towards it.... but then that dress is stunning and made me feel amazing.... I was also getting a good deal on it with 20% off and free alterations...

    Hi girls.

Welcome to the forum Joanne, it's great having all the extra help from everyone here.

Catherine, by the sounds of it you do like the lace however I think you have a secret thing for the satin that's making you hold back! I think you need to try them both on again on the same day and see how you feel between them both.

Donna, how much extra is the dress than you've budgeted for? If its a large chunk extra then its worth considering if its feesible. If your OH isn't worried it could just be that you're worrying TOO much if he thinks you can manage. If you feel so amazing in your dress I think you would regret going for something else and it might always be in the back of your mind. You should feel amazing regardless :)

Well I was hoping my dress would be £1,000 or under.... but decided I could go to about £1,200 before alterations.... my dress should be £1,800 but with the money off will be just under £1,500 and she'll do alterations for free.

So I suppose if I'd gone for a £1,200 with say £100 alterations its only £200 over, but if you look at my plan of £1,000 then it's £500 over. My fiancé has said he isn't bothered like I say.

I do love it and I want to feel special on my day, like you say I don't want to look back and be disappointed (I know someone who ended up with three dresses as she wasn't happy with her first one, so got another, then saw another and she says on the day she still wasn't happy) but I'm usually so tight when it comes to buying clothes lol... so it's also going against my nature.

went to a wedding fayre today and it was amazing, got loads of great idea's. Ended up spending £100 on pork pies (I know we're mental) but I found somewhere that does beautiful rings, expecting them to be really expensive and they're cheaper then I was looking at before AND will do 10% off AND throw in some free pearl earrings... oh and they cleaned my engagement ring for me too

It's a tough one! Could you maybe reason it by saving money somewhere else, like what are you having for entertainment or similar kind of lines?

You don't want to end up feeling the way that person did on your wedding day if you don't love your dress, don't feel as if you have to settle. You can definitely have a look round though and see if there's anything else you like that hadn't considered before.

    £100 on pork pies hahah?!

The wedding fare I went to yesterday was pretty rubbish really! Only thing I got out of it was a free glass of champers ha!

We have spent quite a bit on entertainment as well, I think once we know what we're doing for honeymoon and know how much that is costing I'll feel better.

We have saved over £500 on our photographer and quite a bit on the cake as well... so we are saving in some places.

Yeah, it's a pork pie wedding cake, we were laughing at them at first but then they said how they weren't really used instead of a cake but as a centre piece for the evening buffet.... they tasted really nice as well, nice different flavours

It might be worth posting the pic in a new thread and asking anyone if they know what it is, as I saw one on ebay and wanted to know what the designer was and someone told me from the pics :)

We're only having 3 pork pie's though as a three tier cake (the smallest one that's on the side and the two from the top on there)

Ha ha that is a cool idea Donna.

I just booked photobooth; was intending to but mum said that she also had £1000 saved from my late granddad's money so that is paying for it; saved £245 on it though :D

Donna my advise to you about the dress is 'if its the one' try to forget about how much its costing and just go with it. My budget for a dress was £1000 but including alterations its costing £1450 but it should have been £2000 including alterations I love the dress and truth be told IF I had known how much it was before I tried it I simply wouldn't have put it on me. I ummed and ahhed went for lunch spoke to Alan then I went back to the shop, every time I speak of my dress I do so with the biggest smile on my face (Or so ive been told) so I know ive done the right thing however there is no harm in trying on some more and seeing how you feel after that.

Am I right in thinking your having pork pie instead of cake? I thought you had a cake organised unless im getting mixed up.

Catherine how are you feeling about the dress now are you still unsure?

Ive not booked anything else yet but I keep looking, Have you thought about invites? How much do you think you will spend on them, I REALLY don't want to pay £300 on something that's ultimately going to end in the bin.

Elizabeth; we saw some at a wedding fayre yesterday for £4.50 a piece ! which would have worked out to £225 for 50 and that would have just been for the ceremony and wedding breakfast guests! Yes they were beautiful but personally I couldn't justify spending that on them; I'd rather use that money to do something on the honeymoon; as it was; we got some diy ones for a tenner :D

Its ridiculous the price they want I get that they take a lot of time to put together etc but I refuse to pay that much for them H2b made a joke about going to the card shop and getting the paper ones that cost £2 for £20 or something.

We have estimated that they will cost £300 but we don't want to spend that much on them if I could get them for £50 id be happy but still grude it.

No we have cake as well, the pork pies will just look nice on the buffet. Lol

I can't wait to try my dress on again, I really think it is the one, but we'll see.

We're doing diy invitations, can do them for about a tenner. Seems daft spending hundreds when likd you say they just end up in the bin

theres also places on 3tsy etc that have different designs and can personalise the designs and then you pay for it, about £4/10 for the PDF and then print them off yourself asmany as you need.

We're thinking of buying a pack of 50 folded cards with envelopes from the r@nge for about £5, will do our day invites (we're having about 50 but most are couples or families so won't need an invite each) and then cutting them in half to do evening invites too.

Just going to do something simple with a ribbon to decorate them.

Ive found a woman on the bay who will do 100 invites for £60 all we need to do is add in an RSVP and information card so that is another possibility, they aren't the fanciest of invites but does it really matter.

I have my STDs when would you send them out. My Cousin is getting married in May 2015 so I think ill wait till he send his but they are a nightmare and aren't organised with anything, Id send mine just now if I could lol
