I'm struggling on centrepieces too! H2B says all the flowery things should be left to me, again that'll be something I will have to ask him this weekend. I don't know whether to have a top table decoration to or just those 'Mr and Mrs' wooden letters. x

We get a basic 3 tier with ribbons and a flower topper in our colours included in our venue package but I really don't like it. It's very basic and I will be upgrading it to my own spec.

I will be getting the wooden letters for the top table but at a loss as what else to have on the tables. My 16yo was looking at balloons today but I can't look at them without thinking 'kids party'. Want something different but budget friendly, thank god I have 18 months left to find them. Too many pretty things to choose from, makes me feel all

Getting married August 2015, have the venue booked, transport and the men's suit hire, only deposit we've paid so far is for the suits though. Going to look up wedding insurance now and buy some before I ring up and confirm the transport and venue.

Lana if you lived closer I would've recommended my lady - she doesn't put prices up for wedding cake, just charges what you would for birthday ones so we've got ours for £250. We had the same budget as you. And those shoes are gorgeous!!

Our centrepieces are cream candelabras with a floral arrangement on top and dangly pearls. I was amazed that h2b picked them tbh he normally hates 'vintage' stuff so I hadn't even suggested it, but he saw them on the venue decorators website and said oh those would look great. And he's doing a vintage style candy buffet all by himself bless him.

Oh and we are just having Mr and Mrs sign on the top table, I'm going to jazz them up a bit, but I just can't afford a top table arrangement in with everything else. Especially as it seems a bit pointless, I can't even remember what was on the top table at any wedding I went to - was too busy watching the bride and groom :)

It would be driving me nuts too - I know there's ages to go but I also want as much sorted as possible. I even made h2b go to a suit shop yesterday to try on suits so he knows that the colour (dark teal) will suit him and if he needs grey or black haha.

Is there anything you can do? Looking at invitations/thank you cards/ shoes that type of thing?

I've got my dress so can look for shoes, and hopefully going bridesmaid shopping next week with my bm. Got loads done invites need making but dnt want to make them too early as can't store them anywhere. Just feel like no one supportive. Hoping abroad will email me back so I can book photographer and tht. Everything pretty much sorted. Suits we can't get till summer as they linen ones. Bent his family live in kent and I doubt half of them will come, so until invites go out I dnt kno who is coming so can't work out suit numbers, and then OH going kent next weekend to see family I'm not as we going away for his birthday weekend after and I work weekends so oiled only get tht off. Just annoyed as he said we can plan more of the little things for wedding and then decides to go kent.

Just feel like I'm only one bothered about how wedding will look. It important to me that is looks and goes fabulous as I want to prove his family right, and they all think I'm worthless basically.

    Think I'm stressing myself out

I'm sure it will all be lovely - we do stress ourselves out with it all though. I was trying to explain to h2b that it has to be great as everyone knows its me organising it so if its a disaster its all my fault. And you don't get a practice run - it has to be perfect first time, but as he said no-one else will even care if the shade of the flowers is the same as the bridesmaid dress sash hahaha

Luckily I have an amazing MOH who is more then happy to spend the whole day discussing the wedding and a mum who is very happy to help without taking over. I think men think there is forever to plan everything and we can suddenly do a don't tell the bride 3 weeks before!!

Haha I totally agree with all of these posts about becoming obsessed and wanting perfection ;)

I never thought i'd get married (or if we did it wouldn't be for a long time) so I have never EVER looked at dresses, shoes etc. This is all very new to me, and I am such an organised person too, and have to stop myself ordering everything we need all the time!

I have the same problem with the OH too. He doesn't know what I spend all of my time doing. I can literally be on the laptop all day and night googling ideas and prices, and he doesn't understand. We spent a couple of hours looking at bands this week, and he was so bored after about half hour. Funny men.... Stephanie, I am very jealous of you with your co-operative OH!

I will admit it is lovely to have him so involved, however he sometimes comes up with the most random ideas and its a little like kicking a puppy when I tell him ummmmmm no that's not happening babe, or that does not go with the theme at all. And we have argued more about the wedding then anything else ever, but we made a pact to not lose it over stupid irrelevant things and the last cpl of months we have planned away nicely :)

We're getting married 11th April 2015. We've already booked a few things. We've got our church and venue, photographer, car, wedding stationary and room decoration. The first half of this year I want to book my fiancé's suit hire, and the ushers and best man. I also want to book our florist. Middle of the year I want to start wedding dress shopping (I'm trying to go down a dress size first!), By the end of the year I want to have picked bridesmaid dresses and possibly hair and make up.
That's the plan. I'm wondering what else needs booking haha!

See I would prioritize dress over suits, suits obly weed 6/8 weeks notice, while sone dresses take upto 9 months to be made. Then you have to have fittings.

I've just booked an electric violinist too, we're having her for the wedding breakfast though. Think it would be nice to have her playing movie themes and some rock music. We wanted a CD of a violinist who plays things like that, but then saw the electric violinist at a wedding fair and decided we would love to have her. Costs quite a bit more then a CD but think she'll be worth it.

Need to just get the Church to confirm the date now as well and I will properly start getting excited. I know I probably shouldn't be booking other things while we're waiting for that, but I don't want the things we want to be snapped up by other people.

i think that's the thing - i've just got slightly scared as it's still 16 months away, i'm worrying about the flavours, the style everything - and keep asking my OH if it ok, and he chose it with me. I think the thing is i won't see it now until the cake lady brings it to the venue on the day - so worried it may not turn out as planned and look dreadful.

Just as well not got the dress yet, i'll be even more worried!!! ha ha

I feel so lucky that my mum is a professional cake maker and decorator, the stress of not seeing the cake and having to arrange cake appointments would be awful, im having a 4 tier cake and they will all be a different flavour and it will go out with the buffet in the evening. If there is tons left i will let people take some away with them and also as im a student and not having a honeymoon (back in uni the following monday after a saturday wedding!!!) ill be taking cake in to give to my cohort and other students in the class too!

Just keep ringing/emailling in to nearer the wedding to see where your cake maker is with designs etc, i think that also if you want to see it before the wedding you should be able to view it incase you want to add anything (bit hard to take away). I know a girl who planned this amazing cake and when she saw it on the day she was like "oh god, it's rubbish" as the cake maker got the colours wrong and had done minimal effort and finishing touches were nowhere to be seen...

To be honest, its always going to be dodgy ground when you get someone else to take care of things. Like flowers/cake etc.

I am looking for a seamstress to alter my dress (when it comes in later in the year), as I don't want to pay the inflated prices of the seamstress in the bridal shop, but I am soooo scared I will leave it with someone who cuts it into rags!

I suppose we all have to deal with the fact these people are professionals, and make peoples wedding things everyday - and they're still in business :)
