August 2014 for us :-) So far we've booked the venue, and I have my dress and shoes, and have an appointment with a jewellers to discuss wedding rings, and re-shanking my engagement ring, in 2 weeks time. Will be looking to book a photographer later this year, as well as the music, and will leave the cake/flowers etc until about 18 months before.
Been engaged for a year now and it's gone scarily quickly, so I'm sure it'll come round it no time at all :-)

Linzi-jo: only 2 venues we spoke to wouldn't quote for 2014; and that was back last year. Otherwise, they all quoted; some offered to give us 2011/2012 prices, and others quoted a slightly inflated price (but still way cheaper than 2014 prices would likely be). Just ask them and see what they say. Really, 2.5 years or so isn't that long; lots of venues take bookings 18 months-2 years in advance as standard, so they should be able to give a quote :-)

Linzi-jo....our venue is somewhere that we go most weekends as they have a members area as well as the function area and i was gonna be cheeky and ask and she actually told me that we would get this years prices as we booked it just into the new year....so be cheeky and ask....you dont get if u dont ask x

our church is provisionally booked too just awaiting confirmation from the bishop that we can get married there....the vicar is in agreement with us but need bishop permission cos it my second time and H2B third ...im slowly getting organised but cannot decide on a colour scheme/theme either x

I am waiting for my church to get back to me they are so slow, they are happy for me to get married there as i have a connection to the church just trying to find out if i fall under the parish as they moved the boundaries a few years ago otherwise i will have to get my Banns read at two churches which adds to costs! when i think i have worked something out somethin else comes along to confuse things
CommentAuthorvodkachick
Stinky87, we dont live in the parish where we wanna get married but if we go to church at least once a month for 6 months it wont be a prob....easier and simpler than getting permission from the vicar in our parishes so then the banns only read in one church too x
CommentAuthorStinky87
That sounds good although the thought of church regularly isnt my thing lol. my H2B wants the church wedding. Hoping that as my mum, me and my brother got christened there that i can get away with this as a connection. Just waiting to hear back from the church as to if im covered or not. I never thought a wedding involved so much you really do have to start planning well in advance.
CommentAuthorvodkachick
H2B would like the church ...his reason being i have never been married in church....first time round for me was in the register office.....at least we can get away with only going church once a month....blokes at work reckon i will be joining the womens institute (like calendar girls) and bringing homemade jam to work!!!!!!
