H2b has seen a white vintage vw campervan that he wants to transport him and the groomsmen to the wedding .... Our budget for a car was £375 and that was for a car to take me and my dad. My point is, the van he wants is £450 on its own so takes us double over budget...does he really need it when he will be the first to arrive and no one else will see it, does anyone else think he should use their own cars just for only 20mins use?.

That is gorgeous! I would have a loved a VW but just couldn't afford it. I agree with what your saying about no-one seeing it, my h2b hasn't mentioned a car... but I have got thoughts floating about to book one as a suprise but will see costs/funds left. x

We talked about it yesterday then he'd put the pic on face ache telling the groomsmen he was booking it...then he said to me he'll pay it himself but it'll still end up on the wedding budget cos we'll end up having to pay for it jointly somewhere I can just see it x

I think if he gets to choose his car and have his car then you should also be able to get the car you want to transport you and your father to your venue the VW does look nice thoe =D <3 X

We've already budgeted for my car that's the £375, but our budget is already at 14,500£ , I really can't justify going over anymore, and that's without my dress which my dads buying and the bridesmaids who are paying for themselves.... We haven't booked the honeymoon either yet and I know that the cost of the van will cover at least the deposit for that too... I've said if he has his car I'll just have to walk the 10miles cos I'm not getting in it,I don't like campervan a x

Plus I don't think it goes with the vintage theme either, I want a vintage car like 1920s x

it is lovely!! but you need to make a compromise somewhere, if u havent budgeted for a second car then its a no :) no one will see it, my car situation is already sorted iv got my fil2b driving me in what will be his brand new car, h2b is havin uncle take him and groomsmen :) hasnt he got anyone with a nice car that can take him, will save u a lot of money plus it will be someone u can trust :) xx

The whole point of a budget is that you don't go over that limit you've agreed on so if his car isn't in the budget then as MrsT says, it's a no! & men say us women are bad with buying things! I don't think anyone would see the car as he'll be the first there .. I'm not even fussed about my own transport xx

I am having this argument with my dad, of all people. I ordered a car for 8 people so we only have to make 1 journey with me and bridesmaid, dad, mum etc. He wants to get another car so me and him can go separate in 1 and others in another. As mum said he is paying for it but bloody hell men.
He prob thinks that it his wedding day he wants a nice ride to the wedding too.

I love the camper van but agree with the other ladies...
I was thinking about paying for a sports car to take h2b to the venue as a surprise, but as he will be one of the first there and it's about a five minute drive from our house, I didnt think it was worth it xx

If the journey is only 20 minutes, couldn't you use the camper van as well? We had a camper as our transport, and because we weren't that far from the venue, we 'doubled up' so to speak with it.
Couldn't the driver pick up your h2b and drop him at your venue, then come for you and your dad, and maybe a run for the bm's as well? Then after the ceremony, if you need to travel to the reception venue, it could be for the two of you (with taxis provided for the rest of the wedding party, such as bm's).

I think he's come round on this so problem solved... He's done a budget thing today and realised how much overall it'll cost him for little extras,he's even unhooked the night before at a hotel n gonna sleep at his house which saves about another £100 x

Im glad hes come round to your way of thinking and is considering the budget more now. I was originally going to have the campervan but then the company did a disappearing act on me....
So Ive got classic black and white cars, two of these for £400 but the groom still has to make his own way there, but hes getting ready near the venue anyway.

Natalie they are lovely cars. I want two classic ivory and black cars, cheapest I've found in bristol is 675. I've seriously considered having just a normal card for my maids, but my mum doesn't travel well in jags or Merck. Which rules other nice cars out. Managed to save a bit of budget and decided I'm only doing this once (I hope) and have booked to view the cars next week, can't wait.
