Hi everyone! My fiance and I are getting married on the 25th July 2015. I'm new to this so just thought I'd ask about something thats worrying me a wee bit! So in our bridal party I have my chief bridesmaid, three other bridesmaids and three flower girls. My fiance has two best friends and he really wants both of them to be best man! At first I was totally fine with this but the more I think about it the more awkward I think it might be! Who's going to do what?? Are they both going to make speeches?? Also, at the top table usually sits bride, groom, brides parents, grooms parents, chief bridesmaid and best man, am I right?? I might be totally off here, no idea!! But if there's two best men, the table will be uneven and awkward :/ I don't know, any other experiences of this? Would really appreciate some advice! :) thanks and congratulations to everyone!! Xxxxx

if he wants 2 Best man then let him have 2 - they just share the duties thats all. if they both want to make speeches then thats fine - but maybe one would prefer not to. just leave it up to them and they will decide. as long as the jobs get done who cares who does them lol. and as to the top table, yes they will both sit on there. if you need to then add another person on to even out numbers. im having 10 on top table instead of the usual 8 it really doesnt matter. i really would worry about it as long as H2B is happy then doesnt matter xx

Why not have a best man and then a groomsman - and give them roles similar to a MOH and BM. Maybe by giving the second a title other than usher your groom will feel that his friend is properly honored and involved in the day?

We are having two best men and two groomsmen. The best men are sharing roles, one to do the speech, the other the stag do. They naturally divided the roles as one cant speak in public and one can barely remember his name let alone organise anything. We had asked the latter first then after a few drinks the second volenteerd to do the stag so we promoted him. The oh has more wedding party than I do lol!

H2b is also having two best men. He has so many best friends so narrowing it down to just two was hard work. His best are also really close so will work together to do the stag do and will do a joint speech.

In regards to top table, we'll have two best men, h2bs mum, dad, him, me, my mum, dad, maid of honour, then my best friend who is bridesmaid, so it's even. Then my two other bm's will be sat with boyfriend and my brother (his gf is one).

We couldn't have one of the best men as an usher as I have three brothers who are being ushers and pageboy.

My BIL had 2 bestmen as he couldn't decide between his 2 brothers and his oldest brother did the same.

They didn't have a conventional top table, they had both sets of parents, my grandmother and me as MOH. His brothers sat on the next table with wife, girlfriend and his nieces. My hubby who at the time was boyfriend sat on the other table next to the top table with our aunts, uncles and cousins.

Both his brothers did the speech together with the Usher helping with props and I must say it was the best best man speech I'd ever heard.

I've been to a couple of weddings where best man duties are split and the speech done as a double act.

Don't feel you have to conform to the traditional and the norm, do whatever works for you and h2b xx

I've been to a wedding where there was 2 best men and they just shared out the role, only one made a speach but would have been fine if both of them had.

For our wedding one of our ushers is also making a speach as he really wants to say something so we're just attaching it to the end of the speaches, the more the merrier!

Best man will be split between H2Bs cousin and his then 16 year old son.. His son will give the rings during the ceremony and his cousin will do the speach..

Our top table in left to right will be

Cousin, eldest step son, youngest step son, FiL, me, H2B, MoB, FoB, My bro and my MOH/SiL

We obv have a pretty big top table, but it's all the people who mean the most..

If he has two best friends then don't make him choose between them and let him/them work out who does what.. Xxx

My H2B has two best men. One will take the role during the service (although both will be at the front) and the other will speak, as he is a far better public speaker. I went to one wedding where the two best men did the speech between them. It's fine, the roles just need to be split according to their strengths and weaknesses.

We also have a team of best men ;), OH couldn't choose between 3 of his friends so they are all going to be best men / groomsmen of equal standing. We haven't finalised the details yet but they will split the duties between them, depending on who's most capable at what. And as for the top table, we're not having one and I think the plan is to seat the best men at a completely different table to us. Tbh we've thrown a lot of the usual protocol out of the window and just done what suits us best because at the end of the day, we all have different lives and circumstances and whats right for one couple may not be right for the next. Don't be afraid to break the rules, after all its your day and your OH's and if he wants 2 he should have 2 and if they end up sat at a different table, so what! No one will care really :)

We're having 2 as H2B couldn't decide. I think it will be nice that they can share the role. Takes a bit of the pressure off them! Xxx
