My partner has 2 really good friends since school. He can not decide which one he wants to have as his best man, nor does he want to upsett eaither one by not picking them. So he has said he will have both. What do you think of this or has anydody done this or know of anybody that has? Thanks.

I'm having 6 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls. My h2b is having our son as his bestman and 6 groomsman, so I don't see why he can't have 2.

my h2b really struggled with this and i was adament that i didnt want him to have 2. i know it is fairly commen but our wedding is fairly traditional and i wanted it to stay that way. he was stuck with 3 people. in the end took about 6 months for him to decide he chose 1 bm and 2 ushers plus my brother.
his mates were really good about it and said they are glad he picked the person he did as he has known him the longest.
if he really cant choose have both, it is getting more and more common now xx

I was one of two bridesmaids for my friend and her husband had two best men to balance it out. One wrote a poem which he read at their ceremony, whilst the other did the speech at the wedding breakfast. It worked for them as they definited which BM was going to do what. xx

One is his brother One is his best friend from school
Do what you want, plus they will have each other to split the duties between them and if either of them are shy then this might be a good idea. :)

My h2b was going to have 2 best men as he has 2 best mates, but he decided in the end to have the one he knew longer as his best man who is also godfather to our 3 kids, and the other as an usher, so they both still have important roles on the day. But if your h2b wants 2 then why not, tradition isn't such a factor in wedding nowadays, just what makes you both happy. :)

Ohh thats a good idea of one doing a poem at the ceromony and the other doing the speach. Didn't really like the idea of having 2 best man speaches. :)

Why dont people like the sound of this though???? My H2B want his 2 closest mates, but last night his mum was saying to me, really he sould have his older brother!!!! I mean they do get on, but his brother lives in Ireland, and they really dont make the effort to keep in touch with other. Also when his brother got married, he just buggered off gretna green with his best as his best man and his wife and that was all they had, so my H2B is thinking why should he!!!!

my H2b asked my opinion as to wither to make his son best man or not ( he is 13 - an immature 13) i said i didn't think it would work and he should make him an usher/grooms man. so he asked his friend Chaz. Then a few weeks ago he asked his son to be Best man. I was like :o , so now we have two best men. I asked him what could Ayrton actually do as best man?, sign the register - no , make a speech - technically yes , but it would be horrendous, arrange a stag night - no, only thing he could do was hold the rings - but i had already told Andy when we first got engaged i would be having my sons as page boys, so he cant do that (then we ended up arguing - he said its the best man's job, i was like yeah but only if you don't have page boys, we have 2, its the only think my boys can do (being 4 and 6) yours can still be a grooms man) so i don't personally know where we stand now. I am assuming yours however would be two adults, so it will be alot less hassle. Let one carry the rings, the other sign the registrar and get them both together to make a double speech, which if done correctly can be so funny. Im sure it will work out fine for you both, good luck

Yes mcewan07, it is 2 adults. Both friends he went school with. When I told him what his mum said he wasn't to best impressed. It's his choice and if he wants his friends, then he's having his friends. I'm not gonna interfear. To be honest though I'm kinda glad he's decided to have 2, because 1 is a bit Irresponsible, out every weekend and has no responsibilitys like we do, and the other is a lot more calmer, who himself is getting married this year and also has kids. If I said he should only pick one, I know he would pick the Irresponsible one. And hun, I hope you get it all sorted with yours. Maby you could suggest that his son reads a poem or something. xx

Mikes got 2 as one is his cousin 1st choice and the other is his mate who he was best man for and also my cousins husband. so no dont think there is any issue at least there is 2 to look after him n get everything ready. split responsibility.

Hiya My partner is going to have 3 best man, 1 whom im very close to is going to have my ring another will have his ring, and the 3rd will be doing the reading. Last year one of best friends got married and he had 12 best men, they all had their own jobs to do on the day and it looked amazing in the church ! Too be honest my opinion is if it feels right for your wedding go for it and stuff what "others" think its your day xx

i'm having 2 best men, both known since school days, it works for us. we have all moved on from school days with our lifes but these 2 i know if ever a problem be it broken down /missed last train and stranded somewhere or if have short fall in cash flow i can pick up the phone and they will help anyway rhey can.
on the day either one will do rings and one will do speech or they will do a joint speech and bounce off each other to make a good speech (only bit of day i dreading is speech the other half knows what i use to be like but the in laws dont) have to place them at back of room
also didn affect cost of suits having 1 or 2 best men as if ordered 4suits then mine came free

My H2B is having 2 best men but unsure who is doing which job - a friend of ours was 1 of 2 best men and they both did a speech as they were the grooms friends from two different times of his life (which is nice) and last year, our other friend had 3 best men who all had different jobs to do.
It's up to you really but i don't see what the problem is.

Same- my h2b couldn't pick between his two best mates: one he's closest to and the other is my good friend too AND is the reason we met. So he asked them to share duties of Best Man. His brother was going to be a third Best Man (or basically all three would be Groomsmen when the Best Man duties split), but he's going to be stuck in America because he teaches :(
So, yeah, two best men. Not a problem.
