We booked our photographer around february/march time and am so pleased with his work. Since paying our £200 deposit however we havent heard from him. I emailed him 3 weeks ago to ask how he would like to recieve payment and he replied saying he would email an invoice over but never did. I have sent him two more since then and heard nothing! A few weeks ago H2B checked his website and said it had stopped working and we have checked facebook but it says he hasnt been on for a year! I would have thought he would want paying! I have no idea what to do. We have no contact details other than the email address.

When you paid you deposit at very least you should have got a reciept with wedding details etc and his contact details. I would be worried too. Have you ever met him offline?

We dont have a reciept as such. We paid by direct debit but we did fill out a form and sign it. He kept that though. I have met him. We met him at a wedding fair and then he came round to our house to show us all his stuff. Satyed for over an hour talking to us and seemed a really nice guy. I really hope he is just busy! We dont have wedding insurance. :/
No mobile or contact details on his Facebook page?? I wouldn't have booked him without a mobile number

Have you got a contract? If he lets you down you could sue for breach of contract. You might need to be thinking of a plan B though.

I would have thought there would be other contact details on his fb page. There's usually an explanation when something like this happens, don't worry TOO much but I would maybe have a look round and be prepared, worse case scenario x

I took your advice little kettle and rang the venue from the fair and got a number. We got hold of him last night and he said his internet has been playing up at home but he will email either last night or today. Still not recieved it though. If it hasnt been sent by monday I will ring again and tell him I will have to start looking for someone else:(

i wouldn't wait till Monday ... if you have nothing when you put your pc on tomorrow ring him again
dont tell him you will be getting someone else .. tell him unless you have it with the next hour you will be suing him for breach of contract that is way more likely to get his in gear
I agree with Lala, don't wait and don't hint you're looking elsewhere.
I would start checking out others though and get a list together asap so you can hit the ground running if this guy fails to step up.

Monday is your realistic time, as many wedding businesesses rarely communicate with people over the weekend due to wedding commitments. If it were me though, I would be looking for a resolution actually on Monday.

But he hasn't breached the contract, and won't until be breaks a condition of it, such as not turning up on the day. I imagine threatening to sue for breach of contract for a £200 deposit wouldn't go down well with him. At the very least I would agree to pay him the balance a minimum of 5 days prior, or even better, on the day, at least then he HAS to turn up before getting the balance. Unfortunately I don't think you can terminate a contract on the basis of "I've not heard anything and I'm getting worried and want to book someone else". It's make do with him OR lose the deposit and book elsewhere. His lack of contact doesn't bode well for how he may behave after when you want your photos!

He sent it! Last night just before i went to bed i checked and he had emailed the invoice with an apology. still a unsettled about the lack of contact so close to the wedding though.
That's good. At least he's apologised, lots of them wouldn't bother.

Thank goodness you are back in contact. Maybe mention to him how nervous you are about this and get his reassurance. Is he a preferred supplier of the venue? Preferred suppliers are normally trustworthy.

I would still rake procaution for on the day, make sure lots of disposable cameras etc are there just in case he's just as realiable with you actually getting your photos
