I have just been to collect my wedding dress this morning. It was already bagged up and the lady asked if I was wanting to try it on or just take it. Having had my final fitting last week I said I was happy to just take it. I had my own veil which I had taken to the shop months ago to try with the dress. They offered to keep hold of it for my with the dress and steam it prior to collection.
At my last fitting last week, the veil was fine. I have just taken the dress and veil out of the bag and there is a 7" long 'u' shaped tear in the veil. It's about a foot in from the bottom and side (cathedral length) and so is very visible.
I called the shop immediately and they said it was checked yesterday and was fine and suggested I had caught it on the zip when opening the bag. It was wrapped in tissue when I opened it, so I certainly hadn't. They have offered me their seamstresses services tomorrow to see what can be done with it, ie taken in and reshaped, but how can a tulle veil be fixed?! It's too late to order another. I'm devastated.

omg! how can they blame you for that? i think they may have known and thats why it was already bagged up! i dont think it will be repairable unless the actually take off a couple of foot but then it wont be a cathedral lenght viel, i hope theyre going to pay for the repair.x

Not sure they keep any in stock. I know they have a sample one as that is what I originally tried on. It's a £330 veil too!

thats not cheap. and besides you dont want a veil that everone else has tried on, i would take it into the shop and demand something to be done.xx

oh my goodness huni hugs xx thats awful i really hope that they sort this out for you! if not have a look on e bay they might have one on there new that you can get shipped to you within a couple of days!! not the point tho they should be paying for a new one seeing as they broke it! xx

OMG and thats just what h2b said.hun i really feel for and if I were you I ould take them the tissue it was in as surely if you had ripped it then that would be ripped too.try and take someone who will be a little less emotional with you as then wil be able to keep a level had when speaking to them but deff they should sort it out,even if they have to have one made or get one form another shop!!!let us know how you get on but same as all big hugs x

Definitely make them either repair it, refund you the cost of the veil or give you a new one. It's their fault, you trusted them and they ruined it. No way could a zip have taken such a big piece out of your veil, and anyone can see that!

Remember to mention you are on here, and will tell as many people as you can about what they have done and that might help them get a shuffle on! Their reputation will make or break them and if they have common sense they will help you and fix it.

Sorry you've had such a nightmare so close to the wedding, hoping you get it sorted asap. Good luck!

How can you make a hole in it if it was wrapped in paper. I think they done it in the shop and where hoping you wouldnt want to try it all on when you got there and just take it home.

Go in and show then the tissue paper and let them see there is no hole in that. Then demand a replacement one even if they have to order it in it should be there just before the wedding

Thanks everyone, you helped me feel much better about it! Well, good news. I went back to the shop this morning and although they still didn't admit it, they said it couldn't be fixed as you would see it, so she is getting me a new one. She said it would be here by Thursday! Phew...!!

No, I'm not paying.
The veil I had was actually a second hand one and originally cost £380, but I got it on the bay for £30, so this way I'm getting a brand new veil and it only cost me £30! x

So, the wedding shop rang me on Monday to say that they had sourced a replacement veil and that it would be ready to collect on Wednesday. Got a call this morning to say it was in and H2B went to collect it for me today.
Took it out of the bag and it is covered in inch long purple pen marks!!!
The veil was only made yesterday and the shop steamed it today. She said that it is the pen that marks where the crystals go and that it is like an invisible ink and dries clear. She said if I hung it for an hour it would dry and disappear.
It has now been hung in our smallest bedroom with the radiator on for 4 hours and there is no improvement at all :(
I will give it over night and will call the shop in the morning if no improvement.
Can't beileve it - don't think I'm meant to have a veil!
