Hello all..just venting a bit of frustration. So our wedding is about 6 months away, but considering 95% of those I invited are coming from the states, and considering we can only afford to have 30 on each side, I asked everyone to RSVP 6 months out. I know its a bit odd, but everyone coming would need to be booking flights etc ..so I figured at least half would have RSVPed by now. It is important, because if lots of American family can't go, I can invite more friends etc but I can't do anything until I hear from people…

I know its early…but considering the planning needed to get over here, you would think some of them would have an idea? Just feeling really frustrated. I even sent it up as an online RSVP on google docs thru our wedding website b/c I figured that would make it easier? Feeling really bummed out….thought I would be having a better idea by now...

Thanks for the advice… talked with the family. A lot of them can't make it so I'm glad I got a little pushy because otherwise I'd have a lot of empty seats come June I think!

On a totally different note, one of our gifts was a £500 gift card to M&S! It was supposed to be for lingerie (who has enough underwear drawers for all that !!!) so we decided to do the Xmas food shop on it as well as Ry and I will be alone w/ the pets this year on xmas and wanted to make it special! A few quid later and we have some amazing stuff for the holiday (not to mention the new Bailey's chocolate liquor which is literally heaven). Really excited. Just goes to show that the UKBride win isn't just about helping make our wedding gorgeous…it is making the whole year leading up really really special. annnnd a little bit tipsy!

Until very very recently I was planning on doing my make up myself, but researching various hair styles/accessories I ran into a hair and make up artist here in London that looks absolutely amazing! Talked to Ryan (we are on such a tight budget for the things we need to pay for ourselves) and was worried he would tell me he thought it was totally unnecessary, but I should have known better. Pardon the mushyness but he is just so supportive sometimes...It amazes me. Didn't want me to feel stressed out on the morning. Anyway...I've booked my hair and make up trial!!! She's coming to mine on the 17 Jan!

All the suggestions have been really helpful, its just hard to know which one to choose!! So many options! It is really tough not having my mom and sister in the country to help me decide.... going to Facetime them during the trial though! Do I need to have the hair pin before the appointment? Sometimes I feel like I'm feeling around in the dark a little bit! Planning a wedding is hard guys! :)

Is everyone wearing a veil?? Originally I wasn't planning on it, but as the wedding gets closer (5.5 months!!!) I have been wondering if I'm going to miss having one... I'd love to hear what other people are doing?

Oh, I can't remember if I posted about this...but we had our wedding tasting a couple months ago! It went so well and the menu is all decided... that said, there was SOOO much wine...I hope we made good decisions! All kidding aside, I'm really excited about our menu. It is nice and light and fresh..i think it will be really good for a summer wedding! Also, there was this one red wine that was so light and delicious! I will have to look through the drink lists they sent over so I can recommned the bottle. It was, without a doubt, my fav red of all times!

I think I want a veil but I haven't bought one yet but my Aunty is going to let me borrow her tiara if it goes with my dress :)

We have finally set the date and provisionally booked the date for our wedding - starting to feel real now so I can imagine how excited you must be feeling as your big day is getting closer. :)

Hey all!! Thanks for the input! Went on a bit of a veil run and decided..it just doesn't suit me. I want my hair down (I've splurged on extensions) and I just don't have the budget in place to spend £200. Besides it would cover my fabulous fake hair haha


Just looking at the pics from the tasting...no food. just wine. There was food too. I promise! It was good!! :)

I'll definitely post some pics from the trial Saturday. I am sooooo excited. Just to get a bit of beauty pampering!

Congrats Emma! It's so great when the date is finalied! It is crazy how close it is getting! We just put 1/2 the catering payment down for the venue...trying to distract myself from the trauma of that by looking at cake!! soooo sooo excited for our cake tasting (part of the Contest win!) the cakes she posts on her FB look amazing..and they look they taste pretty good too

Anxiously awaiting my dress!!! It is arriving in 'February' so every day I come home from work wondering…is today the day!?!?!

OH!!! I almost forgot, Ryan and I had our cake tasting!!!! Dawn from Sophisticake has been so lovely. Every time I speak to her, she's so reassuring…not just about the cake mind you! We were chatting about the tasters and I made a joke about how I'm going to gain so much weight trying cake. She gave me such a sweet and inspirational pep talk about not worrying too much about losing weight. Just such a lovely and talented person. ANYWAY, so we tried:

Red Velvet Cake
Vanilla split with milk chocolate
Vanilla split with raspberry preserves and marzipan
Coconut and rum cake split with lime, coconut, and rum frosting

All insanely amazing. BUUUUT we ended up choosing the coconut and rum cake! It was insane. So light. Fresh. A beautiful aftertaste of sweet lime. We were like, this is absolutely perfect for our english garden June wedding!!! I've sent over some pictures of design ideas and she's doing some sketches this week! Cannot wait to see! It is going to be a 4 tier cake that incorporates the feeling of the first image mixed with layers of duck egg blue and gold foil like the second. Seems hard to imagine, but Dawn has assured us that our crazy mishmash thoughts will make complete sense!

This all sounds amazing, yum, your making me hungry, I love the sound of your cake, it is going to look beautiful,I bet you are so excited. :) x

I literally spent all night staring at it. Not even exaggerating. Luckily the OH was away doing something with Universal for early screenings of 50 Shades of Grey (Absurd) so i got to enjoy the dress in all its glory for a good 12 hours before i had to hide it!

If I keep it here I am going to obsess. I called up the place doing my alterations and begged, multiple times, for them to hold it for me until my first fitting in April. They said no the first 2 times, but I managed to get them to agree finally! Dropping it off to be with them tomorrow…safe and sound.

We also decided to use our floral centrepieces in our ceremony …at the front. We wanted lots of flowers, but can't really afford it so our florist has designed everything so it can move between rooms really easily. SOOO we found this gorgeous old long antique bench and we are going to use that up at the front to display all the flowers…

I cannot believe how close it all is now! Just have to drop 20 lbs (i've been saying this since december…), make it through a tonsillectomy, and enjoy the ride up until 18 June!!!

I'm soooo excited for whoever gets the call tomorrow. Honestly just so excited.

Though when I won I'd only been on the site a month and hadn't posted that much…I seem to remember a few people complaining about that on the FB post :( womp.

I meet my florist next month and I'll post pics of her samples for everyone! I have reached this absurd point of excitement where I'm having a hard time focusing on much else… Wedding brain may be my undoing!!

Awww thank you!!!! 99% of everyone was amazing..just a few grumbles here and there. I get it. I was sooo insanely shocked when I got that call. My boss was on the phone doing a radio interview on young people and abusive relationships and I had to run out of the room because I could not control the volume of my sobs. Fairly sure some of them ended up on her radio program!

It goes so fast. Honestly…the best advice I got was to enjoy the lead up. The day goes in a flash but all the little things…the sending out the invites, tasting cake, even figuring out the dreaded table plan…make them all a moment with your OH or your MOH. Pop open a bottle of something, or cut of a slice of cake and through in a great movie with you do it. All of it is part of the wedding day really!
