We are Weddings by Michael (Wedding Photographer Cumbria), and together we capture your memories. With more than thirty years experience, we still love the romance and excitement we see at every wedding, and take great pride in capturing those emotions for our couples. We love the challenge of difficult weather conditions, dimly lit venues and unusual settings, where our low light and creative lighting techniques allow us to capture unique atmospheric images. A rainy evening is a perfect example, and something we relish! You never know where memories are made so the option for a second photographer ensures all those little things are recorded, the things you usually miss. From the kids running riot, to the favours that disappear within minutes. This is why we recommend having a 2nd photographer. The Bridal Portrait session is where our skills can really shine. No matter the weather, if you are game, then so are we. We have produced iconic images for hotels and brides alike, in bright sunshine, overcast skies, rain and snow! Whilst it’s these images that have created our reputation as one of the UK’s leading wedding photographers, it doesn’t define our abilities, and nor should you believe this is all that we do. We tailor our photography to your needs and desires, whatever they may be.

A second photographer is a great asset for a number of reasons. Primarily, if you like the reportage style, the second photographer is usually tasked with quietly circulating amongst the congregation.

We really wanted to use smoke flares for some of our photos, of which they had worked with before and knew exactly how to get some great shots. They came out fantastically and the colours look really vibrant on the final images.
The lighting they brought and used was brilliant. We found the end images to be really high quality and everything that we wanted them to be.
They also got lots of extra shots of things like flowers, rings, our bridesmaid’s dresses, the groomsmen relaxing and having a drink before the ceremony, and the bridal prep, so we have lots of extra memories of all the bits that are often easy to miss or forget.
Michael and Helen helped to make us feel calm and comfortable in front of the camera and the images are all beautiful, so we couldn’t have asked for much more and can’t recommend them enough!!

MD & Lead Photographer Michael has over 35 years experience in wedding and commercial photography, and current clients include Getty Images, the Marriott, Lavender, Great Western, Crown & Macdonald Hotel groups amongst many other hotels he provides wedding brochure images for. Known for his creativity and lighting skills, Michael’s attention to detail and patience for the perfect picture help him create stunning images. Based in the Lake District, Cumbria, with clients all over the country.
