The Real Wedding of Vicky & Paul

Vicky & Paul's Wedding Story

•Who proposed? How, when, where? Was the timing/date significant in any way? Was it a surprise? Paul proposed whilst we were away in Munich at Oktoberfest, the original plan was to purpose whilst actually at the festival but after Vicky had 3 steins of German beer (that’s six pints!) Paul thought better of it and went for the slightly more romantic setting the night after in Am Platzl square, Munich. Was a surprise!

•What attracted you to the venue/s you chose for the day? We had use of the venue from Friday evening right through to Sunday morning, meaning we could spend more time with our guests and accommodate up to 45 of them. It just has a really relaxed feel about it and we could run the day and decorate however we wanted. Its out in the countryside over looking chew valley lake, it’s a stunning location.

•How did you both feel on the day? Very happy, we had a brilliant day, it wasn’t stressful as we had already arrived and set up the night before, so we felt very relaxed
•What parts stood out for you the most? Being able to get married outside and enjoying the beautiful views across chew valley until the sunset.
•Any funny stories or unusual anecdotes from the day. We had a slight problem with our music, the power kept cutting out as it was too loud, however once we’d realised the problem everyone just sang along until it rebooted itself and then at the end of the night it was a challenge to see if we could actually get it to stop with very loud over enthusiastic singing!
•Who/what made your day extra special? Eg, a friend’s speech/ supplier that went above and beyond? Vicky’s brother unfortunately was very badly injured (gunshot wound to his head) during a robbery on Christmas day at their parents restaurant in Antigua. This left him in a critical condition and the chances of him attending the wedding unlikely. However he made an amazing recovery but is now sadly completely blind and adjusting to a new way of life, this didn’t didn’t stop him though and he got his best suit on and made it to the wedding.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at folly farm and our caterer. Getting married outside was a bit of a last minute decision as we were holding out on the weather and it was amazing!! so we didn’t really have anything appropriate to walk down the aisle on (was a bit stony outside so not ideal for high heels!) so Stella from folly farm went out and sorted something for us quicksmart. The food produced by thyme chef was first class, everyone loved it and they were brilliant at ensuring the day ran seamlessly.
