The Real Wedding of Miranda & Mark

Miranda & Mark's Wedding Story

After purchasing an engagement ring in New Zealand, Mark carried it in his backpack across South America, waiting for the right time to propose. The perfect moment came on the sands of Playa del Portezuelo beach in Uruguay. "Mark organised an evening picnic to watch the sun go down. We were alone with the most beautiful view and he produced a gorgeous diamond ring," says Miranda.

Cape Cornwall Golf Club proved the perfect venue for the couple, partly for the rugged beauty of the location and also for its family associations for Miranda. "My Grandpa used to play golf there when I was a child so I have lots of lovely family memories there," she explains.

Opting for a vibrant celebration, Miranda's favourite colour, turquoise, was the inspiration for the styling, while the theme for the flowers was "bright and colourful like a Cornish hedgerow" and featured pretty arrangements of lisianthus, freesias and roses.

Miranda breezed down the aisle to Air's 'You Make It Easy' - a moment which proved the highlight of the day for both Miranda and Mark. "Walking on the arm of my Dad past all my favourite people and seeing my gorgeous man waiting for me at the end was unforgettable," she reflects.

After a highly personal ceremony that saw the couple taking vows they had written themselves, guests spilled onto the balcony overlooking the ocean for Pimm's and bubbly.

The wedding menu was a delectable medley of flavours: a Greek sharing platter was followed by pork loin in Cornish cider sauce and a twist on a Cornish cream tea using shortbread biscuits, strawberries and clotted cream. The couple enjoyed a trip in a golf buggy down to the cove where they paddled in the shallows while posing for photos.

Four-piece local band, The Dowling got the party started in style, and a DJ set followed. Nature heralded in one of the highlights of the day, as Miranda comments: "A very beautiful sunset made the perfect day end so magically."

Looking back, Miranda offers up her top tips to other couples. "Plan it together and make it special for you both. We found it was a really special family time and lovely to involve everyone in decisions too."
