Leigh & Tom's Wedding Story
Leigh and Tom’s wedding at the Barn at Drovers was relaxed, well paced, and full of genuine moments – the kind of day that suits the venue perfectly. Set just outside Hay-on-Wye, the Barn offers space, good light, and a natural flow that allows weddings to unfold without feeling staged or rushed.
The day began with preparations on site, which kept everything unpressured and easy. With no travel to factor in, the morning felt settled and unrushed – people arriving, final details coming together, and plenty of time for Leigh and Tom to take it all in without feeling pulled in different directions.
Their ceremony took place outdoors in the wooded glade, a quiet, sheltered spot that felt naturally intimate. Surrounded by trees and filtered light, guests gathered close, creating a sense of connection that’s hard to recreate indoors. The setting encouraged everyone to be present and engaged, and the ceremony felt personal, thoughtful, and true to them both.
Afterwards, the day moved smoothly into drinks and conversation back at the Barn. The layout of the venue works particularly well for this part of the day, giving guests space to relax, catch up properly, and enjoy being together. Leigh and Tom wanted the afternoon to feel informal, which meant portraits could be worked in naturally without taking them away from their guests for long.
As the day moved into the evening, the atmosphere stayed warm and sociable. Good food, easy conversation, and a lively dancefloor rounded things off without anything feeling over-planned or forced. It was a wedding that reflected Leigh and Tom well – considered, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable to be part of.
It was a pleasure to photograph a day so well suited to both the couple and the setting. The Barn at Drovers, and the woodland glade in particular, provided a beautiful backdrop for a wedding that felt completely their own.
