Emma & John's Wedding Story
Emma and John, met online in 2017 and were married in their home church, Opengate, in Bognor Regis and chose to have an upside down wedding in December 2017.
As they had so many families coming with young children that would require an early bedtime, they decided to host the reception, with a DJ and hog roast straight after the ceremony for all in the church hall, before heading off under a banner of sparklers to Bailiffscourt Hotel in Climping, West Sussex for an intimate supper with their close family and bridal party. We got very creative with the formal portraits as it was a late starting winter wedding with very little space between the ceremony and the hog roast, using the back of the stage to construct the main shots. We also decided to take some time out on their return from honeymoon to head to our local beach (as we live by the sea) for their portraits, enabling them to spend maximum time with their guests who had travelled far and wide across the world for this special day.
An additional unusual fact about this wedding is that Emma is a very close friend of mine and couldn't decide whether to have me as a photographer or as a bridesmaid... we decided that with clever planning and creative use of a remote shutter I could be both (and feature in the occasional photo!!)
A feat we thought was bordering on the impossible has now been featured in Your Sussex Wedding Magazine as well as winning me "Best Classical Wedding Photographer 2018" in the Master Photographers Association (MPA) South Central region annual print comp, AND two Silver awards in the MPA national monthly competitions. Who knew I'd be able to do my job in stilettos and a long dress!!
Emma chose her dress from Bijou Bridal Boutique in Barnham, while John bought his suits from the menswear department of Marks and Spencers. Friends provided the cake, flowers and music during the day while Toast Functions provided the DJ. Great Pig Pig provided the hog roast. Our bridesmaid dresses from Asos and all jewelry accessories from All That Glitters.
Their stunning day was finished with a stay in the luxurious Bailiffscourt Hotel followed by a Maldives honeymoon.
