Emma & Ian's Wedding Story
It has been a bit of a rollercoaster! We originally planned our wedding for Saturday 11th July 2020 with 70 guests during the day and up to 100 people in the evening.
When lock down happened, we thought about moving our wedding day, including our ceremony, to later in the year but we were unsure how far to push our wedding date back.
After speaking with Kiera from our venue, Applewood Hall she suggested we have a think about what was most important to us. So, we took some time and decided that getting married on our original wedding date despite COVID-19 was what we wanted to do regardless of how many guests could attend and what restrictions were in place. So, we decided to get plans in place to make the legal ceremony happen.
A week before our legal ceremony was due to go ahead we received some bad news, the Norfolk Ceremony team weren’t going to re-start wedding ceremonies till 25th July 2020 so we were unable to go ahead as planned on the 11th! This was such a blow as myself, Ian, our guests and our venue Applewood Hall, were all ready to go.
Despite this set back, we still wanted to go ahead with our legal ceremony and wanted to get a new date booked as soon as we could, with the added pressure of trying to do this before our bands expired mid-September! Our legal ceremony finally went ahead on Saturday 29th August 2020.
As for our wedding reception, we had planned to celebrate by having a celebrant-led vow renewal followed by our wedding breakfast and an evening party with all our family and friends in the autumn, on 17th October 2020. However, when we reached the 12-week mark before this, there was still so much uncertainty with regards to the guidance and restrictions on guest numbers, that having discussed with Kiera at Applewood Hall again they luckily had availability for Sunday 29th August 2021 – our 1 year anniversary! It seemed like the perfect option to move our reception to this date when hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate without any restrictions in place.
