Imagine winning a £25,000 wedding? We called Jenny Collier to announce that her dreams had come true on Valentine’s Day…
It’s always an amazing surprise when UKbride’s Emily Brown makes the call to congratulate the winner of our £25,000 dream wedding competition. But Jenny really couldn’t believe it, and the whole team cheered after the announcement was made.
On the other end of the phone this time was Jenny Collier, aged 34. Jenny is a childminder and will marry her fiancé Alex Marshall, who is a recruitment manager, in May 2018.
The two met seven years ago through a mutual friend who introduced them to each other. They hit it off immediately, and in September 2016, as Jenny was getting ready for a charity gala ball, Alex went downstairs to bring up two bottles of fizz. As he came into their room he was playing their songs on his phone, and Jenny didn’t suspect anything until he started talking about how much he loved her, and then he was down on one knee!
The couple have two children, Felicity who is three, and Oliver who is 14. The family live together in Stamford in Lincolnshire.
Jenny was poorly on the day we called, and was in no way expecting a call from UKbride. “I’m still in complete shock!” said Jenny after the call. “I cannot thank you enough. We’ve been saving up ourselves, and we don’t have a very big budget, so this has really lifted an enormous weight off our shoulders. I cannot believe it was me!”
At the moment, they have their venue booked which is in Peterborough, and their church. They also booked a cake tasting session and a session at a local bridal boutique.
“I found the bridal boutique through UKbride actually! I’m using the site almost daily, it’s a brilliant website and it’s helped me no end. I’ve told all my friends who are brides-to-be, because it’s an ingenious tool to find local suppliers you wouldn’t have otherwise heard of!”
