Videography Prize Winner Announced

We give our congratulations to Power User Katie Preston this month and her future husband Tommy Hicks! They have won our monthly Power User prize - £1,100 worth of wedding videography with Forget Me Knot videography!

We spoke to Katie to see how she was getting along with planning her wedding for December 2017…

“It is pretty stressful but we are lucky that we have enough time to get everything done! We have a good idea about how we want the day to run which helps; when we first started we didn’t have a clue!”

“I met Tommy through mutual friends in a pub when we were 18. It wasn’t until we were 23 that we met up for a friendly drink that ended up starting our relationship! We had been together for just under 18 months and Tom took me to a lovely hotel and Spa for the weekend in St Albans for my 25th birthday.”

“We went out for dinner and walked back to the hotel afterwards. There was a lake at the back and he took me there to sit in the dark on a bench overlooking it. We were chatting away and he suddenly came out with his proposal and asked me to marry him. I was very shocked to say the least! I couldn’t stop laughing which wasn’t the tearful acceptance he had prepared for!"

“I’m very excited for the wedding! If I’m honest I’m not the kind of girl who has imagined her dream wedding all of her life so I’m actually surprised at just how much I’m looking forward to it. Our friends and family are all very excited too.”

“It feels amazing that we’ve won this competition! We excluded the idea of a videographer as our budget just doesn’t allow for it. I never win anything!"

UKbride is both helpful and enjoyable, the advice it offers has really helped me. It’s given me a good idea of my budget which is something I was struggling with and I love playing around with the wedding dress designer tool. I’d recommend using it to other brides and I’d advise them to ask loads of questions and interact on the forum, you get so much advice and support from other brides who know exactly want you are going through.”

“I think that as much as I’m excited for the day I’m also looking forward to it being over, I’m hoping that me, Tom and my daughter will be a stronger family unit. I’m extremely lucky that when we started dating I was a single mum of a 10 month old and he has proven to not only be an amazing partner but an amazing father figure.”
