Honeymoons and Hen Parties in Hungary

We sent UKbride's Anna Wooster off to Hungary — one of Europe's hidden gems — and a great venue for a hen weekend or  honeymoon. Looking for a destination that's different, beautiful and luxurious? Look no further!

My interesting fact for the day… did you know that the sun shines 2,030 hours per year on average in Budapest? It certainly shone for me on a recent visit, to enjoy a little pre-wedding pampering. The place is a great hen weekend destination and is also ideal for unconventional honeymoon.

During my visit, Comfort-Med showed me round some of the most glamorous hotels.

The first to house me was the very stylish Soho. It was located in the heart of Budapest, in the centre of a colourful and teeming city. This stylish and elegant hotel was close to the city centre, making it perfect for those who want to get a feel for Budapest. The Danube, Våci Street, the Synagogue and Budapest Broadway are all located nearby. An efficient public transport system means that you can wine and dine at the finest restaurants in the city.

It isn’t a large hotel, which means that the 4-star service is individual and more personal. The set-up is ultra modern and therefore ideal for the younger touring bride, especially being set in the heart of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities. They are offering Vampire Suites (as pictured here) also.

My next stay was in Heviz. I was completely immersed in Comfort-Med’s spa resort which had a 4-starred hotel. Housed in a Mediterranean building, the hotel had 236 air-conditioned rooms and 120 parking spaces, if you’re travelling by car.

Over the nine years the hotel has been around they have adapted and grown with advances in alternative medicines and treatments. With a range of modern pampering treatments the hotel is very popular with a high percentage of returning guests.

They have developed a new concept called Vitalium. This involves a consultation, which focuses on the needs of the individual. You are offered medical exercises, sports trainers and dieticians, catering for all your foreseeable desires.

When I was given the grand tour there were around 100 hotel guests all waiting to receive their specialist treatments. I was treated to a mini-massage, and… oh my goodness… can honestly say I’ve never felt so relaxed and de-stressed!

The hotel owns its own thermal water source. These waters have the same thermal components as the world famous thermal lake of Hévîz, which gives the town it’s name. These lakes are the centre of European spa tourism. The Hévîz lake itself is 4.4 hectares wide and is regarded as the best hot water lake in the world because of it’s peat bottom and the medicinal quality it holds.

My third and final hotel was above the town of Pécs. The building was located on one of the most scenic spots of the Mecsek mountains, providing any visitor with some simple stunning scenery.

Like the Hévîs hotel, this one had an outdoor and indoor pool. The wellness pool, as it was called, had a wellness shower, neck, back and feet diffuser, all of which had the essential hen weekend chillax factor. There is an indoor children’s pool, Jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, steam bath, massage treatment rooms, a gym and tanning booths – so you’re bound to find something that’s right for you.

The hotel has two stunning restaurants that serve both national and international cuisine. You can dine whilst watching the sun set over the breathtaking scenery of the Mecsek mountains.

All of these hotels were visited courtesy of Comfort-Med who can organise your trip to Hungary, advising you not only about hotels, flights but other activities you may want to enjoy in Hungary too!
