My sister got hers from eBay. It was more of a prom style though; she sent her measurements and it was prefect! She looked fantastic and it was exactly what she wanted

2nd hand can be amazing if you have assurances, pictures etc but wouldn't recommend brand new on eBay etc

I've heard some good some horror story , I just brought mine from Dorothy Perkins on line free delivery and returns , it was £150 , I chose a tea length one as getting married in Cuba , it was the same as one I had tried on for £600

I have my eye on a specific dress for my wedding(havent set the date yet)but ive wanted it since the moment i saw it and its only available online so im going to have to risk it. you hear stories of amazing dresses and horror stories but you get these with boutiques also. try and look at the reviews of the seller/maker even message and ask questions before you commit to buying a genuine supplier will be happy to accomadate you good luck x

Saw a 50s style one I liked, bought it and it was perfect! Be careful and check reviews. I'd also be sure to either pay by PayPal or a credit card Ps you'll be covered if anything bad does happen

I got mine from jj's house online and it was perfect. Also half the price of the exact same one I saw in a shop.

I would be worried about buying online. I am 2 different sizes one size at the top and one at the bottom. Also I can fit in some styles others not. I'd need to try different dresses on first to see if they suit and you can do this online. It would be a headache having to return if they don't fit even if they're my size.

I bought mine off eBay, had to send my measurements. It was a similar style to 1 I had tried on in the shops. Cost £99 and I loved it. I was so worried it wouldn't come in time or it would be awful but I'm glad I took the risk. It is definitely a risk tho as there are horror stories out there, just have a plan b just in case x

I bought mine from Amazon. It came from China and I was told over and over again I'd regret it. It would either never arrive or it would be nothing like the photos. I'd have trouble with the sizes and ultimately regret it. I ended up buying it regardless and love absolutely everything about it. It is amazing quality arrived weeks before I expected it to and fits exactly as expected. I couldn't imagine finding anything as perfect in any shop as I haven't gone for a strictly traditional dress. xxx

I got one from China. £800 in a bridal shop then would have had to pay to change it to my fitting. Sent my measurements to China and they did the sane dress for £150. Fitted perfectly. Arrived when they said it would as well.

For those who got it from the Internet did you send exact measurements? Or did you leave a bit for alterations?

Also did the company's allow you to return if it was not right? As I have seen the perfect dress but have also heard horror stories

Some dresses I tried on I thought I would like but absolutely hated. As long as you make sure that the style is definitely something you will like and make sure the size will fit then it should be okay

Don't do it unless it's a trusted website. Have a look at designers such as Ronald Joyce and Maggie Sottero to see their professional photos. A lot of fake online shops steal their photos so if they have stolen their photos from designers it's not proof of their actual work so it's likely you'll receive a horror story. You can use website checkers online to check if they are trusted. If a website is posting their own photos then I don't see an issue. Some high street shops now do wedding dresses so worth a look. Avoid Stacees and DIY dress as they prop up a lot on dress disaster websites despite the odd dress on DIY dress being ok.

I wouldn't :/ I really enjoyed going into shops and trying them on

I think it is ok as long as you do some research on the companies themselves look at the reviews on their social media pages

Hi I would check on Mixbridal they have a big list of counterfeit internet sites to avoid when dress shopping :)

I bought mine from eBay, I had the length altered as I'm tall so got them to add a few cms on for me, I didn't get anything else altered though as I ordered it 3 months after giving birth so knew my size would change, but now it fits perfectly without any alterations, and I love it, it's exactly like the photo that I fell in love with, I kept looking at other dresses after I found it before ordering but nothing compared to it, so I went for it and so glad I did it also came from China took a few weeks to arrive x

be sure to know your correct sizes aaannndd ensure you have a sematress/ shop that amends dresses to call, ordering a lace up back should help with most 'size' issues but the sizes vary from designer to designer and country to country, check sellers etc, good luck, there are lots of bargains on the internet to be had :)

I bought from a website called cocomelody.com -it's an American site that designs all their own dresses. Mine cost me around £350 custom made and delivered and I loved it! I only needed the straps adjusted to be tighter. I went to some bridal shops beforehand to try on different styles, but I just didn't have £1000-£1500 to spend on one dress. I think this website is a great alternative and I highly recommend!!

I ordered online from Debenhams. Called first to see if it was likely to be reduced soon (it wasn't) and then looked for an on-line discount code so saved 10%. Should have been £320 and I paid £288. Was confident about ordering as I knew I could return it if it wasn't suitable. Absolutely love it. Interested to hear that JJ's was OK as I'm looking there for MoH dress.
