We're currently in discussion with a photographer and before they provide a quote they want to know what sort of coverage we want, such as hours. How many hours do you generally have a photographer for? I don't want to quote too little or be excessive and it's not then worth the cost. Thanks x

we're paying £1290. the photographer is coming about 9am and leaving about an hour after the first dance. maybe ask for a price for the full day and take it from there cutting the hours down until you reach a price that your happy with. if you have a while until your wedding maybe shop around to get the best deal x

I've only booked mine for 5 and a half hours but I'm starting to feel like it's not enough. I wanted bridal prep to first dance but didn't account for travel time :/ I'd book atleast 6 hours x

We're having ours for most of the day, probably adds up to about 8 hours.

Bridal prep to first dance is usually the standard package. Depending on how your day will run that's about 8 hours. We had ours arrive after makeup but we staged some photos with the makeup artist so we still got some makeup pics. Our photographer was great with suggesting timings as by the time we booked we didn't really know what times we were doing except for the ceremony time - it's worth asking what they recommend (a good photographer will make suggestions).

If you give them times of Ceremony and first dance and then discuss what you want. Do you want them for Bridal prep? (Approx 2-3 hours before ceremony) Do you want them for the first dance or to leave after meal and formal photos, then they should be able to work out the hours. We had Bridal prep to first dance (he stayed about another hour to get a sunset picture) we had 2 photographers and when we add images and an album to our package it will be about £1250-£1500. X

As they arent cheap it depends what you can afford. I've got mine from the church to the wedding to the reception for formal shots and some of guests enjoying the arrival drinks. 495 we are paying and then my uncles taking over.

Depends what you want to remember. We shoot all day and well into the night and average 10-12 hour days. We like to be part of the gang for the day so we find coming at prep and getting to know everyone makes for better photographs. Then we like to stay and get loads of party shots, cos we like to party. Most things over run as well, so that's worth remembering if you pay for set hours. Some people will only work to those and you'll have to pay more for them to stay. As long as you know what you're getting when you sign your contract.

My ceremony was at 2pm. 15 minute drive from my house. Photographer arrived at 10am. For makeup prep and photos of dressing etc before putting them on. Then she caught the boys at venue before we arrived etc. And she stayed until after first dance and evening guests arrived. £650 for roughly 610/650 edited images online and usb in a beautiful box. Then i also had about 60 printed images. So i can make my own album :-)
