Hi, we are both after plain wedding bands and was wondering are we best going the high street jewellers or would we get a better deal taking a trip to birminghams jewelry quarter?

I'd recommend Smooch rings. My wife and I used them, they come to your house but there's no pressure selling. The rings are totally bespoke so you can design your own...

I don't know about Birmingham but everything's worth a look I think. Ours are plain gold bands, good quality, from Ernest Jones & it was only just over £500 for both xx

We are looking at getting ours from Elma jewellery online. They'll send you a ring sizer as well. They have some lovely rings

We went to the jewellery quarter and we paid about the same for both of ours to what high street stores were charging. x

Some high street ones have sale days. We had found the ones we wanted then when we went in later it just happened to be a 20% off when you buy 2 rings day haha. We got both for about £200 and mine even has 7 small diamonds in it so if you wanted both plain you could probably get it cheaper :) worth a look anyway. Ours were h samuel i think.

We went to the jewellery quarter and were amazed how much cheaper it was there! We'd been recommended it for this reason but we were still shocked by just how much you could save going there and there are loads of places so you can price them all up and come away with the best deal. We're going again next week to order ours because when we first went they said there was no need to order till August as we don't get married till November

Definitely try the jewellery quarter, I was amazed at how much cheaper they were. The only problem is that the choice is overwhelming so have a good idea of what you want before you go!

If you got your engagement ring from there you should check with the same shop as ours gave us a discount if we then bought our wedding rings from there x

We were going to get ours from the jewellery quarter because we live in Birmingham so it was always our intention to get them from there! We were out shopping one day and popped into a Warren James just to have a look and ended up getting them from there that was 6 months ago and now we're getting married in 17 days xx

Try local jewellers. Usually they can cut you a deal as they're not tied down by "company policies" and they're reasonably priced. I work at one where I live so I get my staff discount off my rings (when I eventually get them )

Jewellery quarter. Some high street stores get their jewellery from places like the jewellery quarter but hike up the prices. They also sell rings that have gaps on the underside of the ring, which means less of the gold (or other metal) making it more fragile (I have had a ring snap because of this). They pay less for these types of rings and sell for the same price so bigger profit. Got my ring from the Jewellery quarter, and it is solid. But small and just what I wanted. I ended up paying much less than the similar rings I was looking at in shops and it is great quality

Definitely go to the jewellery quarter if it's not going to be too expensive to travel there. Though it will depend on the metal you want I guess. My engagement ring is platinum which is really expensive on the high street. I had to get the same metal and saved about £300 from buying it in the jewellery quarter. We used Diamond Heaven and they were very helpful and couldn't be happier with our rings. Mine is plain but my fiancé has chosen to have a brushed effect on his. You can choose whichever shape of ring you like and have the effect added x

Try wedding rings direct. Me and my other half got plain rings for £100. Mine was about £45 and his roughly £55.

We went to Goldsmiths for ours as your Tesco clubcard points are worth treble there. So we asked relatives if we could have there clubcard points and saved a lot of money

I would recommend the Jewellery Quarter in Bham. Thats where ours are from and mine is plain, OH is patterned but it was made specifically for me. We also got our both engraved. Brilliant price, was really impressed. I had budgeted double!

You can barter on the high street too, mine are from Beaverbrooks and I was a bit cheeky and haggled. Ended up getting my engagement AND wedding ring for less than just the engagement ring should have cost us. It definitely pays to ask and be prepared to walk away if you don't get the price you want. I played 2 branches off against each other and asked them to beat the price!

Had mine handmade to my design from casey Jones from
wantage , Oxfordshire ... Avoid cold months of jan, Feb which I did as your fingers shrink & summer heat my fingers expanded .... Fortunately they do ring resizing for free as part of their package .... Also free to have your names & date of wedding engraved on the inside .....
Very cheaper than normal shop prices ... But designed by me ....

Unless you are local to Birmingham, you would probably spend the money you would save on the rings on your travel expenses.

We got mine (plain band) from H. Samuel. I went in and choose it but waited a fortnight to order as they had a wedding weekend special with about 10% or so off if I remember rightly.
