Hi all. I have one bridesmaid and she will be 16 at the time of the wedding. I have no idea where to start looking for a dress for her. I looked at a bridal shop but the prices are crazy! I have read so many horror stories about the online stores and now I don't know what to do. I want a youthful dress as she's young and our colour scheme is purple. Any suggestions?
Have a look at some of the high street stores like Debenhams or John lewis. They have some nice dresses and they dont break the bank like bridal shops do. x

Try chi chi. I know some people have done really well with dresses from China but the one I ordered was poorly made (waist band not straight and missing a patch of sequins.) I could have had a full refund but it would have cost £12 to post it back on top of the postage I had already paid so took a partial refund. I have now got dresses from chi chi and they are really pretty and fit well. Xx
Debenhams and the likes of quiz...gorgeous dresses in there :)
Quiz is the best shop and they have an online bridal section that's where my dresses are from

I got mine from asos, there is a big variety and the dresses are all very youthful and good priced. Quiz and monsoon also has a good selection. I'm sure river island do specific teen clothing might be able to get a nice party dress that looks bridesmaidy. There are some really good sites online, just got to keep browsing, I would maybe find a few and then ask her preference. My bridesmaid dresses were from quiz, saw them in the Leeds store about 2 years before the actual wedding then when we started shopping for them they were still in store but I got them from the merry hill branch and they were reduced. Slight issue with getting my sisters as she was pregnant at the time and they didn't have any within the company left but managed to find hers on gumtree for even cheaper. But quiz is fantastic!
Mine were all from Debenhams, but to make them different from just off the rail we got two headbands from claire's and stitched them onto the ribbon that was around the waist, ended up spending about £80 on each of the bigger two dresses and £50 on my flowergirl, this was after going into 4/5 bridal shops and the prices beinf about £200 each!!
i used e-bay. i had a 15 year old, a 20 year old and a 47 year old for my brides maids. they all wore the same black dress but in sizes 8, 12 and 24. they came from china and arrived within a couple of days of ordering them. i used paypal so if there had been problems i could get my money back. i had to parachute the skirts up with some vintage broaches, (we're quite short in my family!!) and i had to take in the size 8 to a size 6 as my daughter was at uni and too poor to eat well. honestly i can't complain and all my girls looked great. it's not always bad. if you can't sew your self there will be a local dress maker who could alter for you if you need it. good luck and i hope you have a wonderful day.
I got mine from lipsy. My 13 year old sister has just got into a size 6 so managed to get all the dresses the same! Just having the length altered on them all now :)

Try little mistress on line they have some really nice ones not expensive and I think you get 10% of your first order
Amazon is amazing, even if they come from China. The quality is outstanding, the only thing is when ordering Chinese clothes go by the seller's size guide and not Amazon's and you can't go wrong.
I got some off eBay and they were a very odd fit and didn't fit two of my maids at all! So ditched those got two from very and they're a perfect fit, and my maid of honour we got one from bridal shop and adjusted as she's an odd fit. I wish I'd just done that first instead of wasting money x
Try Quiz

I am using jjshouse on line they have some fantastic designs and good prices
Hi lovely, I spent £125 on 5 dresses for bridesmaids, but I wanted them all in something different so even though they are all empire line with a split, they are all different shades and styles. I got them from Topshop, BooHoo, TK Maxx and Forever 21 in America on sale and I love them all ! Don't think you have to go down the bridesmaid label route. If you search 'purple occasion dress on Google you'll get loads of options, like this lovely little number! Obviously I don't know your shade, theme or what you're looking for but just as an example. Good luck!! x

My friend is getting married in Jan and her daughter will be nearly 11 at the time, her dress came from eBay too and we really couldn't fault it at all. Good luck!

Definitely suggest Debenhams & house of fraser. Or even have a look in monsoon.
I bought my bridemaid dresses from Quiz. They are perfect and cheap too. They are about 65 pounds each.
Our colour scheme is cadburys purple. One word, AMAZON. 2 bridesmaid dresses £20.79, the are bridal shop quality, fair british sizing and the only fault we could nit pick is that they were creased but ay £10 a dress I can't quibble with steaming them. They were bought for a tweenager and a mother of 3 so theyre not too grown up but not to young either. We love them!!! Search for belle long prom dress. Another tip is to search for a "prom dress" or "formal gown", as soon the word "bride" gets mentioned theres an unspoken rule that companies seem to apply and add to the price.
Asos some great Ines on there and they won't break the bank x
Diydresses.com made to measure.
Hi Niki, I have twin niece's who will be 15 when bridesmaids at our wedding and I've been dreading getting their dress as I remember being a 15 year old girl! However the first two dresses were delivered, tried in and LOVED from ASOS the weekend just gone. ASOS have a pretty easy returns policy for peace of mind.

I have heard river island will be launching a wedding selection in Jan and they do sizes xxs so will be able to match the rest of the maids ?? And I bet a lot of other high street shops will follow suit too
I've decided to go to asos for mine. My daughter will be nearly 15 when I get married and they have some lovely reasonably priced dresses on the site
Hey! My colour was purple too!!! Firstly, where do you live and secondly, how long do you have? I'm in London so my advice may not be helpful. Finding a purple dress was quite difficult. I didn't want my maids to spend more than £100 in the end the dresses were £120. We went to Font Hill. Basically a road of shops dedicated to formal wear. Found something there are months of looking as for some reason Cadbury purple, what I wanted, was not a popular colour anywhere. I would say go there, or try online shopping through PayPal only. If you pay through PayPal your money is protected despite the company for dodgy or not true to advertised images. Hope that helps. Xxx all the best. Mine's in 2 weeks!!!!
I got my bridesmaid dress from next. It looked really elegant and sophiscated. My bridesmaid is 19
Hi I have a 13 year old bridesmaid and we got ours from debanhems we got a size up and we're just finished going to get the bridal shop who I got my dress off to alter it for her! :)

My niece will be 14 when I get married and I was having the same problem. Then I went into TK Maxx and found the perfect dress, not only for her, but matching ones for my 3 other bridesmaids and two flower girls! The BM dresses were £35 each and the FG dresses were £20. I highly recommend trying there. Good luck! X

Hello,
I would maybe have a look at Dorothy Perkins online, they have started doing wedding dresses and bridesmaid outfits. They do a range of styles and colours. Atleast you know what DP is like and will get something of decent quality which is reasonable than from an online wedding shop not knowing what you will get.
X
I got my 16 year old a two bird dress it looks fab
My daughter is 17 and being my bridesmaid. I got her dress off ebay and its perfect! And wasn't expensive either x
What size is it you are looking for I have this in a size 14 bought for one of my bridesmaids but it's too late now to send back it's still in original packaging with tags attached only been tried on I'd sell for £30 x
Have you looked at ASOS my love, I have purchased a few from there to try recently.
Depending on when wedding is... in November the high streets/ online companies like quiz, new look, boohoo, miss guided, Debenhams, John Lewis, start getting evening gowns in for Christmas... they have a great range from coast, phase eight n other retailers... or you could wait till January n then the prom dresses start coming in... that don’t cost a fortune.
Go onto diydress.co.uk they are really cheap and do really nice dresses xx
Try David bridal.. decent prices and really nice dresses!
I have bought my bridesmaid dresses from Dorothy Perkins, I have four bridesmaids all different shapes & sizes so I went for 4 dresses all the same colour, but 4 different styles. As I have a very petite size 6 and a curvy size 16. This might work brilliantly for your 16 year old bridesmaid also?
I would try ASOS. They have size 2 and up and have a gorgeous selection! X
I found my bridesmaids dresses on boo hoo.
Hi I'm in the same boat do I trust eBay for dresses I was worried but looked on very and there dresses are around £75 I want three long gray dresses and two short and they had both.
Quiz is quite good.
Try weddings on Facebook I hope you find what your looking for x
You should try places like Asos, house of Fraser, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins etc they do bridesmaid dresses x
Try WED2BE outlet stores
I'm having the same trouble. Can't afford the prices in the Bridal shops and I have 3 bridesmaids. All 3 are very different sizes (one size 4, one size 10 and one size 18/20). I feel your pain. I've looked at JJ'sHouse which seem to get good reviews, but I worry about ordering them and then turning up looking like a bag of poo!! It's certainly harder than picking my own dress.
I am the same one of my bridesmaids is my niece who is 16, one is my cousin who is 30 and then my daughter is 11 so I was struggling but I got mine from wed2b and they are stunning. Because the style I chose for my niece and cousin was a bit old for my daughter it was perfect as you can mix and match styles but have identical colour so it’s brilliant. They are online to look at but they don’t look that great on the website but they are stunning on. We had seen the same dress in a bridal boutique for £270 and from wed2b they were £85 x

Hi. I have 2 adult bridesmaids. We went shopping for dresses in bridal stores just to get an idea to different styles and colours. Once they agreed on the dress type I ordered from ali express. The store name is (Shenzhenshi). They arrived yesterday less then 2 weeks since ordering them. They are the exact same dress as tried in store. The quality is amazing and I paid £12 per dress instead of £160 per dress. Very pleased with them. Hope you find what your looking for x
We got our bridesmaid dresses from ASOS they are perfect and a bargain. Have a look on there website x
I have a purple theme and the problem I had was trying to get the girls to agree on one that catered for a large difference in age group. I eventually managed it thanks to eBay.
My SIL was 16 when we got married but you forget how quickly they grow up! She looked perfect in the same dress as the other girls on the day. They were from David's Bridal who had loads of styles all available in the same fabrics / colours if you wanted something slightly different for her though?
Have you tried bridal outlet stores instead

I suggest Debenhams! I tried a few online and what came in the post was awful, wedding dress shops are extremely expensive and I ended up finding some beautiful bridesmaid dresses in Debenhams, and in the sale! They have a lovely selection of formal dresses too
Just go to ASOS they have a bridal range thats amazing and really cheap x
There will be horror stories for anything that can cause extra stress for the wedding. My 18 year old niece was such a headache trying to get her to agree on a dress bit eventually we managed to get her to with a fitted top part and float out purple off the shoulder dress they do on eBay. Can't buy them till closer to the date though as my wedding is 15 months away and my 10 year old niece is already in bras and wearing 6-8 adult clothing so could still have another growth sport and be taller than me yet lol.
Little mistress have some lovely dresses at good prices. I have 6 bridesmaids so price was my main issue. Although they are online there are stockists you can have a look before you buy. Plus 20% off for students or if you sign up to receive their emails.
