We started by working out the rough cost of the wedding and then dividing the time we have to save so we knew what we needed to save each month.
We then worked out our income so we could save a realistic figure and not leave ourselves short.
We opened an account specifically for our fund and put in any extra we get (gifts, lottery wins) so far we've stuck to it and paid off the ceremony and reception venues and the registrar cost.
I've always been hopeless at saving but it really helps knowing that if I don't save what we need, we won't have our perfect day x

I would work out your budget and then how much extra you have a month to put into a separate account. x

Hi, we set up a direct debit into a savings account and added it to the list of bills to be paid. This way we don't feel like the money is accessible so can't dip in and we are saving regular amounts. Good luck :) xx

Set up a direct debit into a wedding account, so as soon as you get paid it will go straight away into another account.

I asked my mum to open a saving account in her name. I put money in it every week and I can't transfer it back out because the account is not in my name. If anything needs paying wedding wise my mum puts in back into my account or just pays it herself.
