My fiance and I are getting married the beginning of August next year and would love to go to St Lucia but have been put off by friends who say August isn't the best month to visit because of the weather. We dont mind if it rains for a short while and then brightens up but is it likely to rain constantly? Has anyone been to St Lucia in August before? Would you recommend it?

I got married 3 years ago at the very beginning of August and we went to St Lucia for our honeymoon straight away. It rained a little bit but we had more sunny days than rainy and even when it did rain it lasted about 10 mins and then was gone. I wouldn't say the rain ruined our time out there at all and we just used those days to go to the spa at our hotel and stuff. Hope this helps.

I think people say to be careful because you are heading into hurricane season. You may want to check when their hurricane season is online xx

It's the hurricane season, however 9/10 you will just get the back lash of it, have you thought Mexico, still Caribbean but its mainland so is a little more sheltered xxx

You could always go on a mini moon then go to St Lucia when the weather is better x

rainfall is only in September, october, in August it doesn't rain as much plus you can check what the weather would be like maybe your friends don't want to go to St Lucia so that's why they said it would be raining all the time

Hi. I'm a travel specialist, and advertise on In Brides. Hope you don't mind me butting in here?! St. Lucia is near the equator, so doesn't really have well defined seasons as such. From June to November is generally regarded as the rainy season, and you're more likely to catch the odd hurricane IF you're unlucky. Its usually hotter as well. Best months are generally May to early June. Like people say, you're more likely to get short. Very sharp rainstorms, but it will be very warm. If you want me to look at best deals, or possible alternatives I'd be more than happy, and its a free service! You can message me at Steve Friend - Brilliant Travel

Check the average rain fall and general weather online. You could always go there when the weather is better and just have a mini moon straight after the wedding x
