My other half is in the same position, I suggested exactly the same however we don't believe his dad will be stable enough at the time of the wedding. I would just judge on how his illness is and how he will be feeling, on whether he will be able to stand his duties on the day, or have two best men, one being his dad and another that can do the running around x

I think that's lovely. I would say suggest it whether it's been done or not. It's a little different but it's your wedding and sometimes these little differences make it much better. You seem like a lovely person and I think your h2b will really appreciate the support and gesture along with your father-in-law. All the best for your big day when it comes.xx

I think it's a great idea. You can have, whoever you want. My suggestion would also be to pull your wedding forward to as soon as possible. One of my friends had his dad. Good luck xx

My husband wanted to have his dad but his dad refused and his cousin did it. Don't think his dad wanted to do speeches... he ended up writing the bloody speech anyway it's a lovely idea especially given the circumstances x

I suggested this to my other half but he decided not to. You never know how badly they may be affected and could cause a bit of a stress on both parties if he didn't feel up to it x

The only person my husband wanted as his best man last year was his brother, unfortunately we lost him to cancer 10 years and the only other person fit for the role was his dad! They both loved it and his dad was so surprised and touched!

Sorry to hear such sad news. Definitely suggest it! xx

My hubby had his dad as best man (actually his step dad but bought him up since he was 3). He said he wouldn't want anyone else there with him at such an important moment in his life. Also the speech was brilliant, like his dad said; the best man's job is to divulge all the grooms secrets, yet as a dad he was responsible for covering them up lol x

It's yours and your hubbys day if u want a dog as best man and cats as bridesmaids that's your choice, obviously some people are traditionalists but I think it's a lovely idea
