My best friend gets married next month and I am her maid of honour. They have politely asked for money rather than gifts to help with the honeymoon. I am planning on giving them majority money however I would really like to get them/her something unique and special as well which won't cost more than £50. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

You could mark their wedding date in a picture. We got one for our engagement off friends, just a white box frame, a heart shaped map of Barcelona (where we got engaged) with our names underneath and the date. It's really lovely and felt personal.

My other half was an usher and we found a place on not on the high street that sold a sketch of the place where the bride and groom get married and they add the date on it. Each is made individually so you know it's unique :)

I got a bespoke photo album made by a lovely lady called Alice whose Facebook page can be found using this link www.facebook.com/alineedfulthings
Nothing was too much trouble for her, she was great and the album was absolutely stunning! She's based local to me in Liverpool but I'm sure she could post anything out to you. The album was beautiful, I'll post a few photographs for you to look at, my album cost £50 but prices do vary depending on exactly what you want. Alice was great at working with my budget, couldn't recommend her enough!

I personally would avoid big knick knack gifts as, even if you ask for money, a lot of people will still buy frames and jugs and glasses etc. I would stick with something small like a keyring OR go off piste. If they have a garden, you could get a "name a rose" gift. Call it their new surname or something and they can plant it together and literally watch their love grow? Or name a star...something like that would be nice as it doesn't turn into clutter in the long run ;-) x

I made an advent Calendar to count down the last month to the wedding with marriage tips & little essentials, building up to her old new borrowed and blue

As an engagement present to my partner I bought us jigsaw piece keyrings that had the coordinates of the place where he proposed engraved on half of mine and half of his. It was really unique and he loved it. You could get them with coordinates of the wedding location xx

Not on the high Street is amazing for unique gifts. I think it's a lovely idea to give them a little personal gift too

Thedaythat.co.uk take beautiful coastal photos at sunrise every single day, so you could choose the day they met/got engaged (or married if you want to send the gift on after the event). The website does framing too.

For our "first met" anniversary, I found a website that printed star charts of the sky over a specific city at a specific time. That went down well :-) greaterskies.com
