Hey everyone :) so I I'm having a "peacock" coloured wedding and originally wanted my 5 bridesmaids to be the 5 peacock colours (blue, green, teal, purple and gold/brown) but all wearing the same dress. Now I'm having some doubts like this wouldn't look very good. Seems most people have the bridesmaids in all the same colour. Would it look weird/gross?

Hi Kelsey most people have the same colour, if you know you can get all the colours you want you may have to change the shades but not the actual colour so they don't clash good luck :)

I'm sure it'll look fine - those colours are beautiful! We had purple and teal when we got married :)

I think it would look great! I personally would go for a lime green or something instead of the gold/brown or maybe even just another shade of blue or purple but that's just my preference, otherwise I think it sounds lovely :)

I had mine in all different colours with the cake to match the colours. It was perfect. I think if you're having the same dress it will look great x

I'm doing the same with regards to peacock colours.y two young girls are in a jade/teal and the adults can choose which of the other colours they want.

Get on pinterest, everytime I start to doubt my choices I go on there to see if I can find an example of how it looks

I went to my friends wedding a week ago and each bridesmaid wore a different colour but the same dress and it was lovely. Her's were pastel summer colours though so it's worth getting swatches to see if it'll work.

ALL THE COLOURS - honestly it looks so much more exciting than just one colour. Especially if they're all on a theme or contrasting. :)

You could always go into somewhere like Debenhams or John Lewis and get everyone to try on the different colours you're thinking of, you'll be able to see them altogether then!

I think that would look great. Very different from the "traditional"
But it doesnt matter what everyone else thinks as long as the two of you are happy xx

Hi Kelsey my colour scheme is blue purple and like a turquoise teal I've got the flower girls in the turquoise 2 bridesmaids in the blue and 2 in the purple.... find a picture of the dresses in each colour and place them next to each other if u still love them then it's ur choice on ur wedding day not anyone else's.

Personally I think you need to tie in the colours together. What about doing the turquoise and purple and doing gold accessorises on both?

I think it would look good but different dresses maybe as you'll find it hard finding same dress in all the colours, I think if possible you could maybe get them made could have top half all same colour and have the skirts all diff colours something different

I wanted mine in different colours, same style. As long as the colours compliment each other I think it would look lovely X

It's your wedding. More and more people are choosing to not have matchy-matchy dresses. You could always go try the dresses on,and if you don't like how it looks, choose 1 colour, have them in different shades and then bring the peacock in through accessories

It sounds good but I think the brown would look out of place, maybe go for a light purple and a dark purple?

Pinterest has lots of ideas for different colour bridesmaid dresses. I like the mismatched bridesmaid dress idea but I always think it looks best if you only change one element. So if having different colours I think it looks best when it's the same dress in different colours. We're possibly having different style dresses but made in the same material and the same colour so it'll just be the shape that's different. I just think it helps bring it all together if you only change one element. I think it can look a bit confusing if all are in different colours, material and styles but that's just my personal opinion.

This is a lovely idea however you could also go with teal bridesmaids dresses with the multi colours in their bouquet. You could even have peacock feathers in their bouquet and yours xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2017

It sounds nice but for some people the peacock feather/eye can be unlucky.

Unless you opt for a dress in one colour (teal)with say a gold sash band then involve a small peacock feather somewhere? That's the plan we had for ours x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2017

my original plan had been to do my five girls in different pastel colours, I loved the idea but eventually I fell in love with a dress in silver! it ended up being a much wiser choice as my H2B is wearing his family tartan which is every colour under the sun so would have clashed so much! plus, other than the dresses, everything else was silver, so it worked much better with the scheme to do silver but it definitely does look lovely if everything blends and doesn't clash! x
