Hey everyone :) so I I'm having a "peacock" coloured wedding and originally wanted my 5 bridesmaids to be the 5 peacock colours (blue, green, teal, purple and gold/brown) but all wearing the same dress. Now I'm having some doubts like this wouldn't look very good. Seems most people have the bridesmaids in all the same colour. Would it look weird/gross?
Hi Kelsey most people have the same colour, if you know you can get all the colours you want you may have to change the shades but not the actual colour so they don't clash good luck :)
My friend had us all in different colours and it looked really pretty!!
I'm sure it'll look fine - those colours are beautiful! We had purple and teal when we got married :)
I think it would look great! I personally would go for a lime green or something instead of the gold/brown or maybe even just another shade of blue or purple but that's just my preference, otherwise I think it sounds lovely :)
I had mine in all different colours with the cake to match the colours. It was perfect. I think if you're having the same dress it will look great x
I'm doing the same with regards to peacock colours.y two young girls are in a jade/teal and the adults can choose which of the other colours they want.
Tbh I'm not to sure. But have you thought of teal coloured dresses and their flowers with all the colours of the peacock x
My friend had a rainbow wedding and all us bridesmaids wore different colours. Looked really nice!
Get on pinterest, everytime I start to doubt my choices I go on there to see if I can find an example of how it looks
I went to my friends wedding a week ago and each bridesmaid wore a different colour but the same dress and it was lovely. Her's were pastel summer colours though so it's worth getting swatches to see if it'll work.
I had my bridesmaids in blue and maid of honour in multi colour with the peacock theme looked lovely.... put a lil mood board together I got the pics on my phone cut n pasted them together even with mine included and the groomsmen suits to get an idea
It's your wedding day do what you want doesn't matter what other people have done or do. As long as your happy. My bridesmaids are having different style dresses in either purple, blue and green there choice of shade. Xxx
Mine are having different colours & styles.
my bridesmaids all wore same dress but in different colours as we had pastel colours wont look odd x
ALL THE COLOURS - honestly it looks so much more exciting than just one colour. Especially if they're all on a theme or contrasting. :)
I am sure it will look lovely x
I have heard or seen others wearing different colours or different dresses but as said above, good luck with finding the same dress in all the colours
You could always go into somewhere like Debenhams or John Lewis and get everyone to try on the different colours you're thinking of, you'll be able to see them altogether then!
I just googled it found this idea Pinterest is a good one for ideas
I was going to have the same with jewel tones- navy blue, dark green, burgandy, deep purple and gold. Saw a couple of examples and it looked kick ass
I think that would look great. Very different from the "traditional"
But it doesnt matter what everyone else thinks as long as the two of you are happy xx
Could you not get them to have multicoloured dresses?
Good to be different hun...have what you want x
Hi Kelsey my colour scheme is blue purple and like a turquoise teal I've got the flower girls in the turquoise 2 bridesmaids in the blue and 2 in the purple.... find a picture of the dresses in each colour and place them next to each other if u still love them then it's ur choice on ur wedding day not anyone else's.
Not at all! We had 3 bridesmaids, and 3 colours, and they looked lovely! So many people commented how nice is was that they were different, so bright!
How about these xxx
Personally I think you need to tie in the colours together. What about doing the turquoise and purple and doing gold accessorises on both?
I think it would look good but different dresses maybe as you'll find it hard finding same dress in all the colours, I think if possible you could maybe get them made could have top half all same colour and have the skirts all diff colours something different
I wanted mine in different colours, same style. As long as the colours compliment each other I think it would look lovely X
It's your wedding. More and more people are choosing to not have matchy-matchy dresses. You could always go try the dresses on,and if you don't like how it looks, choose 1 colour, have them in different shades and then bring the peacock in through accessories
It sounds good but I think the brown would look out of place, maybe go for a light purple and a dark purple?
I think it'll look fab like above x
Just order swatches of all of the colours you want and see if they work well?!x
I think it should look lovely and if its what you want then go for it x
My wedding was hydrangea themed so I had pastel pink green and purple all the same dress just different colours it looked fab! If that's what you have your heart set on then go for it!
I'm doing peacock colours too! And I'm having blue, turquoise and 2 different shades of purple for my maids. If you want that then look at some photos. Like this one. I personally love it
I'm having peacock and all my girls are in different colours but same dress and it looks amazing
I see a lot from fhfh bridesmaids dresses where bridesmaids have different colours, I think it looks lovely
I think it sounds lovely x
Pinterest has lots of ideas for different colour bridesmaid dresses. I like the mismatched bridesmaid dress idea but I always think it looks best if you only change one element. So if having different colours I think it looks best when it's the same dress in different colours. We're possibly having different style dresses but made in the same material and the same colour so it'll just be the shape that's different. I just think it helps bring it all together if you only change one element. I think it can look a bit confusing if all are in different colours, material and styles but that's just my personal opinion.
I've got 4 different shades of purple
Alisa Chauhan this is so you peacock wedding!
I had my 4 bridesmaids all in the same dress, but all different colours. It looked beautiful. Xx
Hi no I don't think it's weird I want my bridesmaids all in different pastel colours x
I'm doing the same colour scheme and think this is a
Fantastic idea and will look lovely! Im not having enough BMs to have one in each colour but love the idea xx
This was my friends wedding. We all had pastel colours. I think it would looks good. They will compliment as long as you get he right shades!! I'm going to have two shades of purple for my bridesmaids (I'm only having the two!)
My bridesmaids won't be in the same colours xx
Mine are all in bright Jewel colours. 5 Bridesmaids, 5 different colours.
This is a lovely idea however you could also go with teal bridesmaids dresses with the multi colours in their bouquet. You could even have peacock feathers in their bouquet and yours xxx
It sounds nice but for some people the peacock feather/eye can be unlucky.
I think it would be unusual but it would look great xx
Unless you opt for a dress in one colour (teal)with say a gold sash band then involve a small peacock feather somewhere? That's the plan we had for ours x
my original plan had been to do my five girls in different pastel colours, I loved the idea but eventually I fell in love with a dress in silver! it ended up being a much wiser choice as my H2B is wearing his family tartan which is every colour under the sun so would have clashed so much! plus, other than the dresses, everything else was silver, so it worked much better with the scheme to do silver but it definitely does look lovely if everything blends and doesn't clash! x
My bridesmaids were in the same dress but different colours. It worked for us.
Hi wedding twin. I'm having a peacock theme too. My bridesmaids (only 2) are wearing the same colour dress with different coloured shoes x
Rachel Allen
Mine are in teal purple and royal blue xx
My friend went all colourful with her bridesmaids. Looked stunning.
This sounds gorgeous! Mix and match bridesmaids are such a buzz at the minute! It sounds like your theme will stay really clear and there will be the consistency of having the same dress too so I reckon it'll work a treat!
It's your wedding you can do what you want. There are no rules as long as you're both happy x
I think this is an amazing idea. Dont think what most people do is the norm think about it as your special day and it should be unique to you and your h2b x
Hey everyone, thank you so much for all your comments and pictures, It's helped a lot and I have a few new ideas :) thanks again!! :) glad to see I'm not the only one going peacock either 😁 xx
