Is anyone having something different for their wedding? By that I mean not having a photo booth, not having a sweet cart, not having the same centrepieces that are around these days. I just would like something totally different?
Masquerade theme
I am. I'm going to make the day all about the most important part - getting married to my beloved, rather than snarking on other people and what they want for their wedding
I'm having a Harry Potter theme xxxx
That's exactly why we didn't have a sweet cart or a Photobooth. We had a 1920's theme wedding and everyone really got involved with their attire. We also had 1920's dancers who took over our 1st dance. It was amazing. Totally worth trying something different.
I'm having a strange magic theme
We had a rodeo camel, disco dome, caricaturist, and a face painter we had 40 kids to entertain x
we wanted to put a bottle of malibu in a crystal decanter & bottled coke plus diet coke on every table as the centre piece but couldnt with the cost at the venue.
Following hope that's OK :-D
I got married as a pirate, all the guest dressed up too, we had it in a hall with a pirate ship and props that I hired from the local theater group x
We did have a photo booth, but it was in a campervan! And our food was a pizza van and ice cream van! X
F
I'm having a cupcake centrepiece on each table
Hate photo booths
If you want something different then have something different its your day. Have what you want.
We had fish and chips and an ice cream van in a marquee on a farm
We had a picnic and it was lovely!
We are getting married on a docked yacht hotel in Gibraltar!
Candle and flowers as centre pieces I know not much different, had jack and Coke favours, hate photo booths as to me they take away the importance of a wedding, we just spent all day in awe of each other, have a lovely day xxxx
We had an ice cream van which was a done up VW campervan. Was amazing.
I get married in October and having a lord of the rings themed wedding
I had a Tardis at my wedding if that counts as different?
Also handmade my centrepieces and had a candy floss machine :)
I mean, if you want something different and original you should really come up with the idea yourself...we're having kind of traditional centrepieces but our colour scheme is quite different to what's common these days, navy blue bridesmaid dresses and accessories like chair sashes etc and then the flowers will be a mix of bright colours. We are having some surprise entertainment too, just look online for ideas or come up with something original that is special to you guys.
We are having trees for our centrepieces!
We are having a book theme! All the tables are going to be a different book like LOTR harry potter and Alice in Wonderland
We didn't have a sweet cart, photo booth, theme or favours. 20 of us went to Gretna Green for the weekend - and we had sole use of the hotel restaurant for the reception, followed by a late bar and our own CD's in the evening. Our cake was one tier and not traditional (open book style), and our transport was a VW Campervan.
I had a Christmas wedding! I was determined not to have the same as everyone else too xx
We had a rodeo bull its sonething i have always wanted to do.
We did have the more traditional parts but we added us to all of them, at the end of the day I couldn't tell you what was and wasn't there I just know everybody had a good time and we got married just do what you both like!
I like the idea of a theme! We had a casino night for our evening do but we told everybody to wear what they wanted as we were only bothered about getting married!
We aren't having any of that stuff! Sorry but we think it's tacky! We have chosen a woodland theme and are making alot of our own decorations etc to make it more personal. Put your money towards some really good entertainment instead, food, photo booths etc will be forgotten about but a really decent entertainment act whether it be comedy or singer will be remembered and special xx
We had crepes. And space hoppers and an owl deliver our rings
Not having a photo booth or sweet cart. Having a magician for entertainment if that helps?
I didn't have a photo booth, as I personally think they are very over done and a bit tacky. But did have a sweet cart.... if you want something different the go for it. It's your wedding you do what you want. X
We're getting married in a Victorian Village, with a Victorian fairground and the use of an interactive museum
I had singing waiters they were amazing
If you're allowed your own catering maybe go for an ice cream cart? Or maybe alcoholic ice lollies if it's in the summer?
We're looking at getting married in a treehouse overlooking a loch
i had a medieval theme, (not too OTT like some of them). medieval inspired dress and bridesmaid dresses. groom/groomsmen just in white shirts with coloured waistcoats & cravats then we gave them vambraces and swords to complete the look. centerpieces were canles in cast iron holders on medieval-looking books with a little ivy wrapped round. guest book was a scroll. treasure chest full of chocolate coins. and fire-spinners for entertainment.
We're having a silhouette artist...
we are having a masquerade ball theme our wedding, feathers decadence and masks included.
We had sweeties but that's because we had golden tickets as our invites so there was a bit of a sweetie theme. Our centrepieces were plant pots that my friend painted and she made some clay chocolates to go in them, we had balloons coming out of the pots with LED strings which looked really cool at night! We didn't have a photo booth though as I think they're a bit overpriced. We had a magician though, he was amazing and useful to fill the gap between the breakfast and the evening reception.
We're having these as our centrepieces instead of flower ones. Thinking of getting a selfie board and photo props. We're having some casino tables x
I love a photo booth might be "tacky" but I love the idea of guests pics with a little note off them. I want it to be fun I know it's a special day but some people take it too serious. X
We are having a cricket theme so having cricket bats and balls as our centrepieces etc
We aint having any of them either... Just a simple understated butterfly theme, on cake, flowers & little bridesmaid dresses.. few balloons on tables. & DJ at evening do.. Wanna spend time with our loved 1s without the bling... It's just not us, we have more simple tastes.
We are not having any of those things either. We are getting married at a racecourse, with the ceremony in their royal box, followed by sit down meal we are having a live violinist to play modern pop songs throughout the day and we are not having an evening do, neither us or most of the people coming are big drinkers so we thought we would keep it sweet at an afternoon wedding and dinner.
Yes I'm not having those but having a live band. Centrepieces will be feathers with ivory beads. Great Gatsby style.
We were gifted a sweet cart as a wedding gift, I wouldn't have chosen it but it was a lovely addition. We did go to a wedding where they had a crisps cart instead which was my idea of heaven. And our DJ did a similar thing to the photo booth, pictures against a background with props. Again I wouldn't have chosen it if it wasn't included but we ended up with some fabulous memories and brilliant photos from it so I'm glad it was there. People try too hard to be different and have a stand out wedding but the coming together of families and friends is what it's all about, and that joy is what people remember most. Though I would be happy if I didn't have to hear thinking out loud again as a first dance song, I can't think of a wedding I've been to that didn't have it over the last few years!
Rodeo bull...
I'm having giant balloons , and lots of greenery ferns etc. Non matching groomsmen outfits dark grey bridesmaid dresses a beaded 20's style wedding dress. No wedding favours , no sit down meal no top table and a blues / rock band to perform. I'm also making our cake and there will be no photo booth or props no sweet cart and no sashes or bows. i will be arriving in a black 1954 Morris minor . We have done everything to suit ourselves it's best to choose things that are practical for you and to your taste rather than fit someone else's style around you x
Not having photobooth etc... made my own centrepieces
We had our wedding in a tipi on Saturday. It was amazing, very different to other weddings and very chilled. But the best bit of the day was the DIY photo booth and sweets that everyone devoured all day. I wouldn't change a thing about my wedding, for me it was about marrying my husband and having a great time, and we did that!
We has some one come and set up a replica formula 1 track of scalextric for the evening
I'm thinking of hiring a candy floss or popcorn cart? Don't think it's that out there but it's something I haven't seen at a wedding yet 😊
My husband proposed at a falconry experience so we had the birds back at the wedding for our guests. Went down a treat and meant something to us too x
We had an icecream bicycle :) haven't been to a wedding with one yet x
Were having a mexican theme with a mariachi band
We never had a sweet cart or photo booth and we had plant pots with motorbike makes on them to name the tables. Suzuki, triumph etc (husband is bike mad lol) we had black white and red colour theme same as his bike and the cake topper was me in my wedding dress, husband in his bike gear and his bike :-)
We had drink after ceremony, poshish sit down dinner reception, then night do we had a dj and a buffet of hot and cold food.
Bridesmaids had dresses from quiz so they could could wear them again if they go out etc, party dresses but smart enough for a wedding too. Black and cream/white sparkly dresses.
We're having a country autumn theme. Hesian chair sashes & pumpkin centerpieces bouquets with autumn berries & twigs.
We had garden games. They went down a storm, everyone loved them. Also had slush machine, candyfloss and popcorn machine. Xx
I am hoping to have a country theme with hay bales and possibly a bucking broncho if I can find one to hire
Hi I made all my centerpieces and invitations also for my evening do I bought flip-flops so we could dance all night also I bought blow up guitars for the fun side great day.
We are having a Marvel theme. It's going to be relatively subtle and not planning on dressing up but have a few things planned. My partner is an artist so will be doing a lot of the stuff. Planning entertainment too but we aren't going for photobooth etc as just not for us x
We had a Halloween reception and requested guests dressed up in costumes, most did was a great change to the norm x
We had vintage board games for our centerpieces - kept people from getting board while we did photos and made sure the kids were kept busy
We also had a "quiet room" for kids/antisocials/autistic folks with jigsaw puzzles and no disc lights
I had a Caribbean theme and had real pineapples wrapped in light on a plate of sand and pebbles everyone loved them I had palm trees made out of balloons too x
No photo booth or sweet cart, but we are having "sweet trees" as our centre pieces
We are having a booth but we have lots of kids coming and I am a sucker for pictures. I love them. We are having a crepe station for the evening and I've hired a caricature. X
We are having a pork pie cake from M&S, it'll get a few laughs and is in keeping with our afternoon theme
'Is anyone doing anything totally original so I can copy the idea?'
Instead of having cars or campervans or anything like that. We are having motorbikes, as my other half is a motorbike freak lol and my dad is also motor bike mad. So my dad is taking me on his on the way there then leaving the church will be my other halfs bike ️ and then we got all our friends coming on theirs ️ xx
The fact that they are asking others to suggest something that will be unique to them is hiighly ironic.
We had fans for the ladies for fans as 3 years ago it was really hot.
Some of my friends have used them again and have still got them!
Also had a battenburg top tier in purple and cream to match my colours!
Leanne Norman
We are having a chocolate fountain and have made up our own bouquets and table decorations. Do something that is special to you. We haven't got a theme as such but hummingbirds are special to us and we've incorporated that into the decor. Just do what you want to do irrelevant of whether others think it tacky. This is your day and what matters is you both enjoy it x
We aren't having a sit down meal, or any of that stuff, no sweet cart, no official speeches. No disco either. It is completely up to you what you and your OH have on YOUR wedding day. Ignore the family's and the friends opinion on what is normal or tradition and have what ever the heck you want xxxx
I find it really sad that people so casually put down other people's weddings. There is no way anyone can come up with anything that hasn't been done before. There's just too many weddings for that. My mother in law is doing us a sweet cart as a gift, her idea, and I'll love it because it was done with love. If that's 'cliche' and 'tacky' then you can just count yourselves lucky you won't be eating any of it.
We're having an inflatable go-cart track and sumo ring, lol
We're having an all out harry potter theme, cant wait!
We are getting married in a cave! But after that it will be a quiet-ish meal and a few drinks. We are saving our reception for a massive party with dj etc in a hall. Hopefully it will be great fun!
We didn't have standard seating
place cards, we had lollipops for all our wedding breakfast guests in watermelon, bubblegum and strawberry flavours
Helll there Iam getting married August next year and have t thought of entertainment In the evening apart from the disco. Any ideas to keep the kids entertained and things that can be fun for adults also. Thank you
No props or themes at all just a wedding. No photobooths sweet trolleys or roeo its not a kids party. Just good food drink and a huge bonfire.
