How long before the wedding do you look to get the bridesmaid dresses? A few of mine are on a mission to loose weight so don't want to get them too early but don't want to be rushing either

Depends what you are getting and from where. If they are off the peg I would say 4 to 6 months. If you are having them made you need a lot longer

Start looking soon it can be tricky and if you like a dress you don't need to buy it right away took me months to find the right ones and they still needed altered

Don't believe them one of my bridesmaids promised she'd loose weight and I believed her she asked me for a certain size dress.... she didn't lose any weight at all. Ended up having to pay for another dress!.... get the size they are now and offer maybe 1 alteration if it's needed. If they need anymore I'd ask them to pay for it? X

I bought mine multiway dresses, meaning one dress fits like 4 dress sizes so if I'm girls do lose weight it will still fit. Look for Kates_dresses x

My bridal shop says they take 6 months to come and you need 2 months for alterations so Ive got an appointment in November my adult bridesmaids already have their dresses

I've just got mine 12 months to the day, was struggling to find a light grey that fit in with my silver theme. Saw a few I liked but they were always pulled or sequins were falling off. In the end I went for simple ones from Dorothy Perkins. They are really lovely for the price though and the kind of dress that won't go out of fashion.

6 months before is latest you could leave it, I think mine was done a month or two before this time just to allow for any delays in delivery or mistakes such as the wrong dress or size being sent. Just order he dresses in the sizes that the girls are now, it is easier to alter a dress down to be smaller than to make it bigger and it doesn't put so much pressure on the bridesmaids if they don't lose the expected weight they wanted to lose.

Depends where your going to get the dresses from. I bought mine last year and wished I hadn't as one of my bridesmaids is pregnant now and I've had to get new dresses as the style we went for couldn't of been altered, we're getting married in 5 weeks and bought the dresses from Debenhams this week off the rack and are perfect no alterations needed x

6 months minimum if you go to a bridal shop for the dresses.

We set the date planned the entire thing and married within 10 weeks bridesmaids dresses were from eBay arrived within 2 weeks and had them altered within a week which was brilliant seeing as there was 11 of them x

I got mine 6 months before. My MOH has lost 4 stone. I hired an excellent seamstress from day 1. Bought a dress that fitted her at the time. I get married on 3rd August. MOH goes for her fitting next week and dress will be altered in time for the wedding x

I am planning to get mine about 4-6 months in advance because one of my bridesmaids is just turning 13 so will likely have a growth spurt soon x

I got mine in jan/Feb and get married may 2018. - they were in the sale and we fell in love with them so just got them.. 1 of my bridesmaids lives in another country and 3 others are dotted around at university so it was actually a lot easier for us to get them sorted early because alterations can be done at times that suit them rather than in a rush x

Mines are taking 16 weeks to be made and then they need to have fittings - I'd say you need about 6 months from your wedding date based on my experience x

I'm having mine custom made to their measurements (cocomelody do this) so shouldn't need alterations. I'm still ordering them 6 months ahead to allow for manufacturing problems etc. I'm buying the dresses and making the time frame clear as well as the fact that if they then chose to change shape substantially after they're bought (2 are on diets but 6 months until I order them) I don't have it in the budget to pay for them to be altered so they would have to pay

I'll do mine 3-6 months before but I'll be buying high street dresses, not from a bridal shop.

I ordered from light in the box about 3 months before. Tool a month to come and already booked with a seamstress for alterations for when they arrived. Check with who is doing any alterations how much time they need and order round them if I was you. Xx

I get married 2 weeks tomorrow!! I ordered 3 bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dress from JJ house in April, so 3 months before the wedding, they arrived within 2 weeks and as I got them made to measure following there guidelines on how to measure they all fit perfectly with the exception of my flowergirl dress as she is smaller than there smallest measurements, but with they help of a good friend who's handy with a machine that's been fixed they all look amazing and I waited till then as my bridesmaids have been dieting too.

I bought the bridesmaids dresses before my own dress!! just stumbled across them one day when shopping with my maid of honour. I wasn't particularly looking for them but I loved them so much I just went for it! It was about 6 months before the big day when I bought them and my dress was purchased a few weeks later :-)

Everywhere we looked recommended about 6months. Alterations are done just before wedding so it's should be okay if they loose weight. We left out a bit late because of one thing and another and we're lucky to find somebody who could get them all done. Good luck
