Has anyone had experience with M&S wedding cakes? We are reluctant to spend hundreds on a cake so am thinking about getting one from M&S. Thanks x
My sisters was from M&S looked lovely and was lovely 😊 if you can save money on something then do.
We are thinking of getting ours from there too, as we like the birthday cakes lol 😂 xx
My sister got hers from there and was absolutely lovely now I'm planning on getting mine from there x
We brought one to use as a birthday cake, it was lovely and worth the money
Lovely cake and look nice as well. We added extra ribbon and a cake topper just to make it a bit prettier!
I had mine from there, was a lovely cake we had fruit and vanilla sponge, well worth the £100 i spent i just added some ribbon round and our topper and just put dowls in and put the next layer on thin cake boards xxx
Just read the reviews first, one of my relatives works in the food dept and she says they don't taste great it put me off getting one but we're getting our wedding flowers from M&S x
We're having the fruit cutting cake, just because We're having other flavours in our other cake!
We used three plain m n S tiers and decorated with pink love harts . Placed on a Perspex display with a Swarovski cake knife - it looked superb.
Ive tried the lemon it's lovely
We got the cutting bars because we only had a small top tier with cupcakes underneath. we didn't actually end up cutting the cake anyway and we ate the cutting bars at home lol. They were good as far as I can remember x
I purchased my mom and dad's golden wedding anniversary cake from them it was beautiful and moist and kept fresh for days.
We got a bday cake from there but was a bit dry however we used tesco top tier and cupcakes and couldn't fault them
We had one. We got the basic white one and had some fresh flowers on it. Looks pretty and tastes great, would definitely recommend.
We had ours from there ( got the chocolate) and a couple of cutting bars in the lemon. Was beautifully decorated, packaged really well and tasted lovely. I also had my flowers from m&s and they were brilliant x
We had 3 tears from M&S - fruit, chocolate and sponge and all were super tasty and looked fab!
My sister in law had a 3 tier one for her wedding and it was lovely! They just added some decoration to it x
My friend had a M&S cake and it was delicious!! She got it decorated with her flowers and it looked lovely too. I paid a lot of money for my cake and did not think it was anything special....so wish I had just got an M&S cake. My cake looked lovely but the taste didn't live up to what I paid for. Z
We had M&S cake, fruit, sponge and chocolate and they were lovely, there wasn't a crumb left I'll post a pic.
They do taster cakes so try them first
We got ours from there. Was lovely & went down well
I haven't but always thought they looked good! X
We got married on Friday and had three m&s tiers. Everyone said they were lovely and it all went! We had vanilla and choc sponge
We got married almost a year ago. We bought 4 different sizes and decorated them ourselves. We had and extra large chocolate large fruit medium sponge and small chocolate one. They went down lovely. Xxx
We used 4 tiers (different flavours) and decorated ourselves. Worked really well. Only had top tier left by the end of the evening for approx 100 guests. Very reasonable. A fraction of the cost a confectioner would charge and was delicious!
We have ordered ours as we didnt want to pay a small fortune x
My nan had this cake from there this weekend and it was blooming lovely!! It was just a sponge and she had a fruit cake bar as well. It tasted so so fresh. Couldn't fault it one bit x
Our friends daughter had one and it was lovely
I just ordered my wedding cake as a birthday cake
They don't get looked after particularly well.. they arrive In store with morning delivery & then hang around the stockroom on a tray and a set of wheel so can easily get knocked or damaged.. sometimes get delivered damaged too!! If you collect first thing you should be okay aslong as it hasn't arrived damaged .. used to work there x
Can I ask where you are based? X
Ours was m and s and I couldnt fault it. Was soft and moist and looked good on the day x
My mum is buy my wedding cake from M&S, my sister had it too and my mum said it was lovely x
Where are you based? I can make an awesome recommendation, for a great price, in South UK x
My sister had an M&S cake and it was lovely
Some really interesting comments, ladies! I never thought to buy a cake from marks and Spencer's and now I think I will as I'm on a tight budget and can't bake for anything x
We had a three tier M&S cake, each tier a different flavour. It looked and tasted absolutely lovely
We had a christening Cake from marks' and it was beautiful and taste bloody lovely!!
Dont do it....we had wedding cake from them 2 weeks ago. Was made awful, icing didnt lay flat and it toppled over come the evening! Xx
We had our wedding cake from m&s and it was gorgeous
I planned to make my sisters wedding cake but ended up in hospital the week before the wedding so we bought the M&S plain iced cakes and I decorated them, they were really nice x
We got my sister's from M&S last year and decorated it with butterflies we made from icing - we thought it turned out pretty well! Tasted good too :)
Can you get the stands from M&S too or just the cake? X
We had ours from there, they were delicious. Had fruit cake, lemon and chocolate sponge cakes. We had our florist add fresh flowers. Had no issues with collection or delivery
They're ace. I've tried a lot of wedding cakes and for consistency you can't beat em. We had a fruit cake from m and s for our wedding and it was perfect.
We had cupcakes and a large iced m&s sponge, our cake decorator dressed it up, was lovely
We had ours from m&s, absolutely gorgeous. The white chocolate icing was amazing! Double layer! Looked amazing and everyone enjoyed it!
We had the white chocolate cake, it was really moist and tasty, we served it as dessert and everyone commented on how good it was x
We had the bride and groom caterpillar cakes, they were amazing xxx
Do your research with local bakers too. The m & s ones aren't always the bargain they claim to be once you include all the bits you need and a baker will offer more flavour options - nb I'm not a baker but I have heard from couples who were disappointed with what they got
I had mine from M&S... loved it. White chocolate icing with sponge. We added a chocolate brown ribbon around it to give it our own look.

This is my plan also. To be honest -how many people actually eat it? 200/300 for cake is rediculous in my opinion c
I have had their cake bars they are great. These were for our daughters christening and her birthday
yes ours was m&s was lovely my mum decorated it as we just got it plain however could only get lemon in cutting cake :) and gluten free fruit cake only came in small if i remember this was our cake x
I have had a few Tesco catering one and they are really nice xx
I bought the tiny ones for my destination wedding - they went to St Lucia and a local lady put fresh and sugar flowers on the biggest one! It was lovely ️
Or buy this to try?! X
We looked at m&s cakes but the problem for us was that you have to pick it up beforehand then assemble it yourself, rather than have someone deliver to the venue. I didn't want to put that responsibility on someone, and I didn't want to be worrying about that on the morning of the wedding. M&S cakes are still £300. We've got an amazing lady making our cake (found through Facebook) and it'll be cheaper than M&S, will look exactly how we'd like, and will be delivered and set up at the venue :)
We got our wedding cake from M & S just the iced fruit cake & sponge cake, 4 tiers cost us £112 then we just replaced the white ribbon with our wedding colours and the florest did an amazing job putting fresh flowers on, it was perfect. Fruit cake lasted a while too. To be honest not many guests have the cake so why spend a fortune on one. Good luck
We had an m&s cake and it was fab, neither of us are overly keen on cake so didn't want to spend hundreds on something we were fussed about, but it worked out really nice as we layered it with flowers and it looked lovely
Their birthday cakes in general are lovely but I have not tried one of their wedding cakes x
We had a white chocolate icing one with roses falling down was beautiful and tasted amazing. Only £199. We had loads left over too
I'm pleased to see mostly good comments as we have ordered a cake from M&S for our wedding in two weeks so fingers crossed it's ok :)
I got mine from there and so nice. Highly recommend x
I had there cake for my wedding lovely cakes
We had an M&S wedding cake last year, was really lovely! And no fuss at all, arranged for it to be ready to collect from our local M&S the day before the wedding.
Also, pro tip: you can get miniature wedding cakes from them for "tasting". They're about £5 for around 6 slices which is actually even better value than their proper size ones. "Just sayin'..."
My friend had one for her wedding and loved it!
We loved ours
I purchased 3 tiers for my Nans birthday - we had to put them together. They were okay, no complaints, but if I could of afforded I'd of got one made professionally! The tiers were alot smaller than I imagined too!
Ours was from M&S, each tier was a different flavour, we bought flowers from a local cake shop and the topper online and we loved it! The whole cake was gone by the day after the wedding, everyone loved the taste, icing was a bit too thick for some but could easily just take the icing off and eat the cake. Wasn't a problem to assemble yourself or take to the venue, my mom picked it up from M&S two days before the wedding, they took it to the car for her and it was very well packaged, nice and secure so didn't move around in the box, we took it to the venue the day before, there were dowels in the box to use when putting each tier on but we never ended up using them and we had no disasters! To be honest I'm glad we didn't spend a fortune on a cake as it's maybe looked at once when cutting it! I didn't even notice it all day but it did look lovely x
Oh mine was unbelievable!!! Everyone loved it and it lasted really well! We decorated ours ourselves to add a more personal (cheaper) touch too xxx
Mine was a marks cake (my husband and I both work there, so was a no brainer for us) it was gone before the night ended and not a single complaint!
Really depends if you want a big cake, the tiers are not deep so cake can look small on a stand
We had our cake from m&s. We got a 4 plain cake (no decorations) added ribbon and flowers and our topper and put it together ourselves we had 2 chocolate one sponge one fruit. Cost us £120 and everyone said it looked and tasted great x
We got our wedding cake from M&S and it looked and tasted amazing! Everyone asked who made it
Have you tired shopping round first. We was going to use m&s but ended up with a 3 tier cake from a local lady for £175 which is about same x
My mother in-law got her friends wedding cake from there and said it was lovely
Do you really need a cake at all?
We had the sponge wedding cake from M&S florist decorated it for us we had a very small (14) wedding so only needed one tier and I bought a cake stand. Never got to taste it unfortunately! Though I have tasted other ones at people's wedding and they are lovely. My friend had the Fruit cake and it tasted nice. X
Becky Jennings thought some of the comments may help x
This is a picture to show height difference between a MS cake and baked cake by a cake maker (NOT MINE FROM ONLINE)
Ours was delish. We added the strawberries ourselves
Patricia McEnroy Gray
They are amazing and reasonable price too would highly recommend x oh chocolate one fabulous and moist x
Laura Török xxxx
Have you tried your family pubs etc like there's a place near me called the willow farm and there cakes are huge and amazing they cost about £80
We had ours from M&S 3 different flavours- we bought some ribbon from Hobby Craft and toppers off e bay - looked and tasted fantastic cost in total £129!
Just ordered mine from m
Absolutely nothing wrong with the cakes from M&S.....I've used off the shelf and from the order book and both are well worth the money.....and you can also buy so many beautiful ready made flowers made of icing from cake makers now to customise a white basic off the shelf cake, there's no need to spend hundreds on a cake....Waitrose also do beautiful cakes......
Good luck ️check out instagram for ideas ️
We're getting our wedding cake from m&s too as we are also in the mindset of not wanting to spend a fortune on a cake, I've only ever heard good reviews on m&s cakes so made it all the easier to finalise our decision to go for it xxx
I have heard people praise the M&S wedding cakes however I saw a post by a cake maker where they compared the size of an M&S Cake against a handmade wedding cake and there was a clear difference in the size.
