I've asked someone who I've been friends with for years to be a bridesmaid. It's recently become extremely awkward as she gets married before me but abroad. I'd already told her we couldn't long before my wedding was sorted but she's asked again and again I've said we just don't have the money. Since then it's been awkward and feels like I'm fighting to keep our friendship going, she lives away too which makes it harder as I can't just sit down with her!

Hi if you have to fight to keep your friendship going then you might as well give up. If your so called friend is being awkward about it that's her problem, if you haven't the money to spare then she should be understanding but say she is disappointed that you can't make it :)

A bridesmaid should be there to help you relax and offer friendship and support. If she's making your life difficult just ditch her...

If she's your friend I would hope that she can understand your situation. How long before your wedding? can you see how the situation develops before making a decision?

A friend should understand. Ring her and talk. It may not be face to face but it's a start. Hope you sort things out.
