So I'm a bridesmaid for a very close friend who is getting married July 2018...

So I'm a bridesmaid for a very close friend who is getting married July 2018 and the other 2 bridesmaids and myself are currently trying to arrange the hen do. The bride to be loved Dublin & has put cocktail making down as something she'd like to do. We've had a look at quotes for a 2 night stay in a 3* Dublin hotel with nude life drawing class and cocktail making and it's coming to £340 each before flights!! We're looking for approximately 14 people, does anyone know of any cheaper ways to do it (if we booked everything separately? And where would we start and any reccommendations?) many thanks! X

I went to a hen do in Dublin. You can get deals for accommodation and flights but be prepared to spend as it's quite costly once there

Try contacting cocktail bars directly to see if they would do a making session for you

Have you tried looking through the companies that help plan hens? They may do a bulk deal? If not I'd maybe look hotel and flight via one company like easyJet and then book everything else separately

Book separately. It's always cheaper. I use skyscanner to find flights and booking.com for rooms. Then you can book the activities separate as well. A word of warning though... Dublin is never cheap. Even if you get a good deal it's so expensive once you are there. If she's open to alternatives, I cannot recommend Krakow enough. It's gorgeous, cheap, 2 hours flight and the nightlife is fantastic. You can do day trips or find cocktail making etc. Just something to think about if you can't find a good deal for Dublin.

Try looking on chillisauce.com, I had my hen do in Chester (but they do do cities overseas so I'm sure they'll do Dublin too) and they have deals with certain providers to get better prices. You just select everything you want included and they put together a package and give you a quote

Have you thought about hiring a house or flat instead of hotel rooms? It might work out cheaper that way.

I'd definitely look into self catering? Quite a lot of places have have houses or apartments in the same block/street..... And probably emailing a few bars yourself is probably a good idea, might be able to get a more bespoke package

Various pubs offer cocktail making classes for around £10....we did one at All Bar One in Portsmouth Uk for 10 of us and we had a great time. We then added a meal in afterwards and had a fantastic time. Depending upon your budget you could mix it with a stay in a local hotel with spa facilities and enjoy an overnight stay with some luxury at a fraction of the cost. Perhaps pack a pamper pack containing face packs, eye masks, flip flops, chocolates, mini wine bottle etc to be given to each guest and everyone will feel thoroughly spoiled. Luxury doesn't have to be expensive! xx

I would book everything separately. Try airbnb for accommodation as well. We got a beautiful house for £93 each for two nights in Cardiff

I've just come back from my hen do and we had a cocktail making company come to us in the lodge we rented which was brilliant and a lot cheaper than getting taxis etc

I used ukgirlthing.co.uk when I organised my friends hen party. You just state what you want and they find it all for you including hotels. I'm sure it includes flights also as we looked at Prague at one point.

Go on sky scanner, you'll get cheap flights from there and maybe try booking.com for hotel or also sky scanner. X

We stayed at the belvedere for my hen last year and got an amazing deal! Keep a look out and check the hotels direct on their website. We did cocktail making at temple bar, great Craic!

Staycity.com has apartments in the centre of Dublin that sleep 7 for less than 80 euro a night ( per apartment not per person) it would also work out cheaper to have some drinks and games in there before going out as drinking in Dublin is not cheap.

A group of 7 of us went may bank holiday weekend. We stayed at an airbnb at Hanover dock (short taxi ride to centre) we paid £350 and that included flights, accommodation for two nights, cocktail master class, clay pigeon shooting, Guinness factory and a club night out as well as money in a kitty which paid for our extra meals and taxis. That was all booked separately xx

We've booked things separately, it cost £22 each way for flights with Ryanair and we booked a lovely apartment which cost £100 per person for 2 nights, so less than £150 each, then you can work the other things in to budget, we're going Irish dancing which doesn't cost much and I've been told by lots of people that it's great fun

yes book seperately and stay further out if theres so many of you taxis arent going to cost to much. We stayed at the duboyne castle hotel and spa. For 150 euros we got an overnight stay with evening meal and breakfast along with spa access and a treatment. So we got flight to dublin from Liverpool and flew back to manchester costing about 22 each in total. So we got to dublin about 9.30am and went to the hotel left our luggage in the luggage room and paid for the room each. (Note the price is based on 2 sharing) We then got a taxi to the guiness factory for 40 euros but not bad between 8 of us. Guiness factory was 13 pound each prebooked beforehand. Then we had lunch and a wander round. We then got the bus back to duboyne at 3 euros each which took 45 mins. Had our evening meal and went out into dublin to the vintage cocktail club it was really good. Taxis cost us about 70 as we got the same guy to come back for us so he gave us a discount. The final day of our stay we had a morning looking round dunboyne and had lunch in a nice little cafe. We then went to the spa in the afternoon and all our treatments done. Then we headed to the airport for our evening flight. Taxi to and from the airport i booked through sun transfers i think they were called. really reasonable and was about 12 pound each.

AirBnB are much cheaper. Try searching for serviced apartments rather than hotels.

Book each activity as a group but separately if that makes sense. Rather than going with a hen party company book it all yourselves. I'm doing cocktail making which is £25 per person at Be At One Bar. Not sure on life drawing but I would be surprised if it came to more than £40.

UKbride Administrator

We got Ryan air flights and stayed via air b n b. Cocktail making classes with food was 30 quid each. Total was cheaper than that

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 4 Jul 2017

Look at air b&b for places to stay..

Check out Airbnb; you could find an amazing house for you all to stay in, for very reasonable prices. You could then, maybe, hire a chef for a night, to come round and cook for you all. You could even have your cocktail making there too, if you fancied :)

Wow that's crazy expensive, I've just paid £248 for a week in a luxury villa in portugal with flights so £340 for 2 nights without flights seems very expensive, I have a Facebook page where I post information about bargain deals that I see on the internet and share travel inspiration on there too, please feel free to take a look and I will keep a look out for Dublin offers too and be sure to post them on the page, I'll pop the link below if you want to check out some previous deals that I posted, I'll be posting again next week too when I get back from this amazing Portugal deal www.facebook.com/theholidayhack x

I'm going to a hen party in budapest next year and have gone through a company called 'redseven'. There are lots of activities planned in and seemed reasonable - maybe take a look at them?
