Is there a reason behind a wedding ring going on a bare ring finger? I hate the idea of taking my engagement ring off even for just the ceremony, it just feels so wrong and weird to me. I'm not sure why.

The wedding ring is meant to be closest to your hand so if you still had your engagement ring on you'd have to take it off to put the wedding ring on which is a faff. You can always put your engagement ring on your right hand and just swap it back over after the ceremony.

The reason goes back a long time when we thought that finger led straight to the heart which is kind of true if you follow the blood vessels but you could put it on your big toe and the line would still go to your heart !!:). Yes your er goes on your right finger before the ceremony then you can place it back with your wr after.

Thank you for asking that question because I have been thinking the same thing.

Your wedding ring is meant to go closest to your hand hence taking your engagement ring off. You could leave it on and swap the rings around after the ceremony or put your engagement ring on another finger and put it on your ring finger after the ceremony. x
