We are going to look at a venue on Saturday!! I'm super excited but... has anyone got any tips on what questions we should be asking the coordinator? TIA xxx
Ask how many people it can hold and if it has a minimum number for the day and evening. What time do you need to finish in the evening. If they have any extras that you have to pay for and what is included in the main price. Deposit and payment plan is also useful info if you like them. Good luck x
Hi Kim. Myself and my H2B asked about what time music had to stop because some venues ask live music to stop earlier then a DJ, lithesome having really strict licences and being unable to extend the time. I hope thats of some help!
Hi I agree with Danielle and Naomi we have our room from first thing in the morning till 11.30 pm good luck :)
Ask if they allow outside caterers? What time is last orders in the bar? What are you not allow to have? as my venue you are not allowed balloons as it sets the alarm off. Ask if they supply a dj? How many people can fit round their tables?as this will be easy for you to plan a table plan. If they offer drinks packages if so how much?
Alcohol prices, you want your family and friends to enjoy themselves, they won't if the drinks are too expensive. Good Luck xx
Ask what happens if say there was a fire and part of the venue isn't available on the day. Believe me it happens. It happened to me part of my venue burnt down and I was devastated. It all worked out luckily but when I found out 6 weeks before the wedding I was worried about space and it looking ugly.
Depends on what you want on your day, our venue doesn't allow fireworks as it's surrounded by farm land.
If they have a corkage charge for you bringing your own wine. My venue it's £15 per bottle of wine off them for each table. If I wanted more obviously it'd cost more. So I've ordered two bottles of prosecco for the top table. Because I know we'd drink it. And the other tables can order there own. Since most of our families don't drink wine I saw no point in paying ridiculous amounts for it not to be drunk. X
If you're booking for next year or beyond get confirmation of price rises and if you choose that venue get those details in writing especially if they offer you a price promise!
What time it closes, is VAT included, is the price likely to increase or do you pay this years prices, corkage, what's kids meals if you're having them?
Make sure you find out whether VAT is included or put on Top as Extra costs ..... Can you bring your alcohol or is there a corkage fee as that will bump up prices ....
From what time can you have the venue? Will they book it the day before. This is important as you could be waiting for the previous wedding to remove their decorations before you can do yours :/ if there are rooms, can you have them the night before (if that's your plan)
If a DJ is included in the package then ask who it is and can you talk to them prior to the event. Ensure that you are comfortable with the DJ and if not don't be afraid to say you want someone else.
Access times, bar start and finish, corkage charge, evening guest charge, cost of extra beds if you have a hotel :)
Ask whether you can use your own suppliers or if you have to use the venue's approved suppliers.
Ask what's included in the price, take a little notepad. Our main questions was the pricing between corkage and them supplying the drinks. No question is a silly question !
What you can and can't have such as tea lights fireworks if you want them anything like that
