Based on my timings so far there will be approx 2 hours between my wedding breakfast and evening reception so I am concerned that people will get bored during this time. I am thinking of maybe having a photo booth, sweet cart and possibly some out door games (weather depending) and I may even set up some cocktail dispensers (with the extra corkage charge ????) for the time between. There is also a cute little countryside shopping village on the site where we are getting married so people may just wander off there and browse but I want to have options just in case. So... I was wondering if anyone had any nice (and cheap) suggestions just in case?
I think you have already got some good ideas. People will spend time talking as well
Hi I like the ideas you already have and you could have back ground so people could chat if they wanted :)
Music is always a winner.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. People expect it and it gives them time to mingle with family and friends they may not have seen in a while. Although I like the games ideas. Also if you are offering accommodation people may use this time to check in and freshen up x
We had 2 hours, and we did cocktails and magician, everyone used this time to check into their rooms as well, your ideas sound really good x
I think the 2 hour break is always nice . People can check in if staying the night . Freshen up for the evening . Have a drink at the bar and relax . X
We are thinking about board games (simple straight forward quick ones) and fireworks between the breakfast and first dance/cake cutting.
If people are staying over on the night this is the perfect time for them to go get their luggage from the car and check in with the hotel.
We had a characaturist for the 2 hours in between which people had to sign up for when he was there and they got to keep the drawing as a memory. Others went off to check in to there rooms and freshen up and some were in the bar awaiting the night time. Depends what you want to do really and how many people you will have behind from the day for the night.
Thanks guys! Your comments have reassured me no end :) I absolutely love the characaturist idea too! I may look into that instead of the photo booth :)
A live act is good time pass acoustic is nice and guest get excited when one starts
We had an acoustic singer which created a good atmosphere between day and night do x
Those 2 hours fly by x
We had a wedding singer for the hour in between our sit down and reception, everyone mingled on the patio area and chatted while he done his thing, worked out well for us, as he sang our first dance too, then we went straight into the reception with the dj x
This is exactly why u hire a zoo like me haha
Your ideas are good but you may be over thinking...you probably don't need to do anything as 2 hours isn't massively long and people will just be socialising with other guests. The last wedding I went to me and my fiance actually enjoyed the few hours between the wedding breakfast and evening do, it was in a hotel so we were able to go back to our room for a bit and have a shower etc before the evening...not everyone likes to be around other people for long periods of time so they might appreciate the chance to get away for a bit :)
People will get together n chat , go for little walk about , have a drink...... I don't think there is any need for you to spend extra money
Between wedding breakfast and evening i'm not having anything. People usually just mingle/check in to rooms then mingle again! C
We had casino tables at ours. Was a big hit & everyone loved it. X
We had a piano player n an old fashion Singalong x loved it x
Don't worry about it,people will find ways to entertain themselves you have some good ideas already. Don't blow your entire budget trying to entertain people in the gap
I think you have some great ideas. One of my friends played Mr and Mrs with all the couples at the wedding which was really funny x
We had 8 kids at the day, so we hired a kids entertainer for an hour 530-630. He was brilliant and some of the adults enjoyed as much as kids. Left the rest of us to mingle and chat
My daughter has bought her games.they are garden games.ie skittles, jenga etc from the range etc.not bad price.from£3.99
My Cousin William Had The Candy Cart, The Photo Booth, & A FREE Bar & All Were A Total Success :)
There's a bar isn't there?!
I had a magician going round doing some brilliant tricks. Everyone loved it and I got loads of compliments on the idea. X
What about giant lawn games?
I have booked a caricaturist forthe two hours between teas and coffees and evening guests arriving :) He is costing £150 for this time and will of course provide the caricatures free to guests! A nice way of entertaining those who are milling around!
I wouldn't worry, we had a 2hr gap. We had a magician. We found that people just loved mingled and catching up. People also go off to refresh etc. I'm sure nobody will be bored for one minute. Xx
At my sisters wedding we all had rooms so either took a nap, had a relax or kept drinking in the bar :)
We're having a rodeo bull and also an open mic, so people can get up and sing a song or something :)
My ceremony is at 3 pm. Lasts 35 mins 25 min for everyone to get sorted photos are at 4pm 5.30 speeches 6 food . Evening starts at 8 . Don't think you really need to pack people with entertainment they will talk and get drinks
