Sentimental value more than anything, we're having August bank holiday, we met that weekend 5 years ago, got together that weekend 2 years ago, our baby was due that weekend. It just seems right :)

Hi Rebecca no reason other than 18 is when most of the family birthdays are :)

My fiancé proposed in August and we wanted a summer wedding

UKbride Member 7 Jun 2017

We were originally going to have a spring wedding but that would take us to 2019 and my grandad has Alzheimer's and I wanted him to have more of a chance to come so we went for September 2018 and the date worked out as being the day after our "relationship anniversary" anyway.

Naomi Chappel
Naomi Chappel 7 Jun 2017

We tried to get a day closest to our anniversary as possible but within the school holidays x

We got together in march so that was our relationship anniversary. We wanted to keep celebrating anniversaries in March so that's when we got married.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

I love Christmas so it had to be then. We got married on December 21st last year

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My partner suffers with really bad hayfever so a summer wedding was out the question we've gone for a November wedding x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We're 3.3.18 at 3pm just because I likes it being a funky date and it's easy for the other half to remember it also falls in March which is just before the high season and expensive quotes :)

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We wanted April as that when we got engaged however the kids would be in school so we decided august so the kids were off plus it would be a nice day

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Autumn is our favourite time of year, just as the leaves start changing. We love all the colours.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

How many paydays it would take us to save plus a couple just in case

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

The day we got engaged was a significant date to us already. We are getting married exactly 2yrs to the day that we got engaged

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married 29th July which is our anniversary from when we got together ️

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My fiancé was a teacher so we chose the summer holidays. Most expensive time of year to get married. He quit teaching about 4 months after. Oh well, still a nice time of year to get married.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

August - not much other choice as I work in a school.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We met in May 2013, got engaged May 2014, got married May 2017. X

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Chose April as I love that the gardens at the venue will be green and spring like. Also, i'm hoping it won't be too cold or too hot (but in the Uk you never can tell!!!).

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My mum asked me if we could get married on the anniversary of my brothers death so it could give her happy memories instead of sad. X

UKbride Administrator

It was the only Saturday of the year left at the venue we wanted lol x

Claire Elsley
Claire Elsley 7 Jun 2017

I always wanted a June wedding on a Saturday and my venue didn't charge extra for peak season so that's what we went for!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We picked our date based on the venue. We've got a beautiful old Hall surrounded by Woodland so we went for early Autumn. xXx

Emma Howe
Emma Howe 7 Jun 2017

12/09/18 the date itself is my grandparents wedding anniversary, my grandad who I was especially close to isn't here anymore, it's kind of my way of including him

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Plan for the weather. Then it can't ruin your day.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We are getting married on my birthday

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married in June purely just in hope of good weather, we had no set time planned, just wanted to see what dates we could get once we found the venue but I knew I'd not be getting married around Xmas or anything... I wanted it a bit warmer than that time of year haha
We ended up getting married 14/06/14 So the dates quite easy to remember too haha

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married in Cyprus so decided to go for a June wedding 15.06.16 - the weather was perfect, lovely and warm (around 28 degrees) but not too hot like it is in July and August xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We're getting married in October which will be our 10th anniversary of being together x

UKbride Administrator

We want an outdoor ceremony

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We started dating 7th July 4 years ago. Also it will be a nice easy date to remember 7.7.17

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

It's our 10 year anniversary 11th August this year so we wanted to get married as close to this date, which is 12th

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My husband :-) as he didn't wanna forget the day so it was near his birthday haha

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

It was the first date the vicar had available lol.
We're now not getting married at church, we're doing it all at the venue.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

January, didn't want to be sweaty winter is cute af

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We wanted a woodland theme and we felt it fit best in the autumn :)

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We had originally chosen March for it to be a spring wedding and was the only Spring month in the chosen package but in a twist of fate, after losing our baby boy the year before we postponed it and managed to get a date in May which was the day after our boys first anniversary of his stillbirth so it gave a welcome distraction planning and having the wedding and now the month of May will not be tinged with as much sadness, and changing a negative into a positive xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

It was the best time to go on our honeymoon. You can't guarantee the weather here so might as well guarantee it while you're away! Fell nicely on our 5 year anniversary

Samantha Kay

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Price lol. We got married in January, which made our dream venue £2500 cheaper than May onwards. Weather was great, pictures are great and everyone was happy. And we didn't have to skimp on anything

Megan Chaplen
Megan Chaplen 7 Jun 2017

We're having a summer wedding simply because We want to get married outside and have a marquee reception with a fire pit and a bouncy castle and I don't like being cold! We're going for June when the wild flowers will be in bloom at the venue we want

Tabitha Hirt
Tabitha Hirt 7 Jun 2017

I get married in 10 days, went with June as was hoping we were sure of sun. I also like the date 17.06.17 😊x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Always wanted around our anniversary (7th March) but we are actually doing the 10th March as it would have been my dad's birthday so felt appropriate as he has since passed away so if he can't be there we can honour him xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married on our anniversary

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My grandparents wedding anniversary x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We've gone for August, for a few reasons; 8 is my favourite number so we are getting married 27.08.2018, we wanted a summer wedding as we'd like to get married outside (hoping for nice weather!) and my h2b's Mum is a teacher as is my MOH so needed to be during a school holiday! Also should mean honeymoon is a bit cheaper as we will be going just after school holidays!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We are getting married in January it will be six years to the date that we met and also three years to the date that we got engaged

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We decided based on how long it would take us to get something me money together. We wanted May initially but the venue we chose only had April, July or September and we wanted the soonest one? Plus saved about £300!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We're not married yet, but it will be during September. It's the only month where there are no family birthdays and the weather is usually pretty good x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We decided on March because we first met in March 9 years ago. We got married on March 11th this year. x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

I wanted a Saturday a lot of the family have season tickets... so I went for June as the footballs not on

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We have gone for August because we have a double celebration on the 26th. As well as our wedding, it will be exactly 3 years since I received my second chance at life after receiving a double lung transplant x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We were extremely lucky with our day, the venue we picked had the 01-09-18 free so we grabbed that as my H2B would have just had his leave. When we booked it we didn't actually realise it would be literally the day after our four year anniversary. My mum was the one who realised and told us.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married at a football ground so 3pm kickoff

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Money! Sunday's in December are cheap!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We met on sept 10th 2010, he proposed on sept 10th 2015 and we married a year later on sept 10th 2016! Xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Venue availability really, we had a few months that my husband couldn't take a lot of time off in so they were ruled out but otherwise we went with when the place we wanted was available. Also cost to a certain extent, may was more than April so we picked April of the 2 dates they had!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We're getting married on 5th July 18. We got 2gether on 1st July 2010 & my birthdays on the 28th July

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

September cos I always remember by best pal saying its the driest month of the year, however she also married sept and it poured all day but apparently that's lucky and she's on 10yr almost so ChaCharlene Campbell

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Was our 10th anniversary of being together. 1/9/2016

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Wanted a august wedding and the 12th just seemed to sing out to me x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Me and my partner went to get married on the day between our birthdays
But it happens to be peak wedding season so we're only getting married on paper that day and then having our actual wedding with all our family in October. It's saving us £2700

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We liked a particular season (colors) so we went for October :) x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Because i have fair skin and burn easily, and also Raynauds Syndrome and can't cope with the cold. Gave husband choice of Spring or Autumn and he picked spring.

Also had to plan it around School holidays of three council areas as bridesmaid, MOG, Best man's wife are all teachers and piper was a schoolboy

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Met 4th July 2011 married 4th July 2015 x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We chose May as it's just before the peak season so cost us a lot less than it would have. Also didn't really want a summer wedding!! xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We picked the date of my husband's parents wedding anniversary and in honour of his mum who passed away 4 years before we got married xx

The 10% discount for winter weddings

UKbride Administrator

Gemma Bosher

Angie Norris
Angie Norris 7 Jun 2017

my h2b choose my birthday so he dont forget our anniversary

Jayne Mallinson
Jayne Mallinson 7 Jun 2017

We are having a November wedding because none of us like the heat me more than my h2b as I blister as soon as the sun hits me even with sun block. So a winter wedding it is and it also lands on my h2b 50th birthday so double celebration.xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

It's the only time my H2B can close his restaurant

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Budget and availability. May is cheaper and the venue was available ;-) Would have gone for our anniversary of getting together but July tends to be hot and I was worried about the struggle of putting wedding bands on swollen fingers!

Linzi Barlow
Linzi Barlow 7 Jun 2017

We are 28/4/18 ... we chose April because my Mum and Dad got married 2nd April and my fiances parents got married 14th April ... theyve been married 30 and 33 years so we decided we wanted to carry it on

Hannah Davies
Hannah Davies 7 Jun 2017

We went for early May because all my favourite flowers were in bloom and made for lovely photos at the venue. We were lucky with the weather too as it was a lovely dry day but not too hot.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Mainly how long we would need to save. Luckily we were able to book it for end of the summer so its lighter later

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We chose beginning of September as we always remember it being sunny when we went back to school and we are having an outdoor ceremony! Also the venue was cheaper out of summer months which was bonus! ️

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Getting married on my late grandpas birthday next may

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married 13th Aug 2016, because we booked wedding earlier than planed we wanted as late as possible in the summer, so we had more time to save, but before my husband would be really busy at work, and 13 is my lucky number and only Saturday they had in the month that wasn't someone else's birthday or anniversary lol

Stuart and I went for the 18/08/2018. He will be 48 on the 12th August and we will have been together 8 years also then. That and its easy for stuart to remember( hopefully) lol

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We're both teachers so had to be school holidays. Better chance of good weather in summer. Cheaper on a Friday than a sat and only one year one day after getting engaged.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We've gone for March 2018 as I get really bad hayfever so didn't want streaming eyes and a sore nose

UKbride Member 7 Jun 2017

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

April 2016

Marrying a farmer it was the only down time. We live in Canada and family is back in England we also planned it then. We didn't want a winter wedding for various reasons and we couldn't have a summer wedding because of seeding and harvest.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My OH and I are planning our wedding for 11th August next year. I didn't care about the month of the wedding, we just wanted it to be on the 11th as that number connects us and our children. (Got together in the 11th month, first son born in the 11 month a year later, second son born 11pm in 2011 and our little girl arrived 11 days late) I know it's silly but it just feels right for us

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married on my parent's wedding anniversary as I had lost my dad a couple of years before and wanted to honour both my parents. It's our third wedding anniversary next week

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We needed it to be in the summer holidays as I am a teacher. We choose the middle of august so we had time to finish wedding bits once I finished school but time to get work done before I went back x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Cost! We chose Feb as it was the cheapest for our venue. Good luck deciding on your date!

May - husbands Late granny was called May, and her birthday was also May. Also, usually get some decent weather that month so it suited for that reason too! X

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Our anniversary is 26th december.. his birthday & our lil boys birthdays are also december.. so we stayed clear of that we got engaged in sept so chose that. Id always choose a month where there are no birthdays or events ect happening around it x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

If you want to go on honeymoon straight away - certain places will be out of season etc

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We wanted a spring Saturday out of peak season and was realistically going to be three years for us to afford it and when we looked at the calendar, the date my now husband proposed was a Saturday three years later so went for that date. Only later did we realise it was also easter weekend so extra time to relax x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We wanted a winter/Christmas wedding so chose 23rd December as it was enough time after breaking up from school (I'm a teacher) and also leaves Christmas eve for family to travel back home ready for Christmas day.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Was the month between mine and my husbands birthdays

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married in Feb as so many people have summer weddings and it rains. At least with a winter month you know there is a big change weather will be crap... our day was lovely though and we couldn't have asked for better weather x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Wanted to go to Up Helly Aa for our honeymoon. That's on a set date very year of the last Tuesday in January so we married in Gretna on the Saturday then travelled to the Shetland islands for 3 nights followed by Iceland for 5.....it was our "fire and ice" honeymoon!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

I suffer from terrible Hayfever, so late spring and summer were out of the question. Sneezing and eyes streaming through out my wedding - nope! So going for October when the weather is still alright but no pesky pollen! X

01.06.18 2 days away from my birthday and my fiture in laws wedding anniversary.

UKbride Administrator

We wanted something to celebrate in May, we get married 29th may next year in cyprus just short of 10 years together. We lost my h2b's dad in april 2015 and his birthday falls in May x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Ours was the only Friday 13th that year

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Near our anniversary and autumn is much cheap than summer

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

Choosing our date based on 2 things...

to avoid birthdays (i have 4 close family members, including h2b who were born in August, costs me a damn fortune every year, don't need an anniversary on top of that!)

and specifically want to avoid our busy period at work so that I don't have to spend my honeymoon worrying about the amount of work im coming back into!

charlotte stanley
charlotte stanley 7 Jun 2017

We're both teachers and want pur honeymoon to follow the wedding asap so summer holidays was only viable time, really! Plus my fiances birthday is August 4th and it's on a saturday the year we wanted to get married so all fitted perfectly! Means I get a pressie every year on his birthday as it'll be our anniversary and I'm a brat 😄😄😄

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We got married on 22nd November - I lost my Dad the year before and mum and dads wedding anniversary is 16th Nov - it was the closest date we could get to theirs x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

My first wedding was a summer do so I wanted as far away from that as I could get, so chose a winter wedding this time, my fiance first contacted me on fb on Dec 11th after losing touch for 20 yrs so that's our date

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

21/07/2017. 2 days before husband's birthday so he doesn't forget the date, 3 year anniversary of when we got engaged and also school holidays so we could have the time off for the honeymoon.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

August. We chose a Friday in the Summer holidays, so children can come when it's £2,000 cheaper at our venue than on a Saturday or Sunday. That and hopefully the sun will shine.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

The season - we both hate summer so anything from may to September was out the question...my birthday is October, his birthday is February - opted for November!!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We met in August, got our first home together in August so we wanted to get married in August too! We really wanted a summer wedding and to get married outside so August was perfect. The perfect temperature too and not close to christmas or anything like that. I could never have a winter wedding, i hate being outside in the cold so i would hate every minute of my photos as id be freezing and it would ruin it for me, plus everyone is always ill and has lots of plans coming up to christmas so everything is always to do with xmas! Summer time the days are longer, sun shines and everyone is happier! Looks like August is very popular on here too! xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We chose November as its close to our anniversary, close to Christmas (my fave time of year) you can make things so cosy and beautiful with candles. We live right on the coast and are getting married in a cave venue on the cliffs so it will be really dramatic and romantic...and you can kinda predict the weather ...so excited!x

We are getting married in february on a sunday as the venue we have chosen we get the same decent package as in they offer for summer but at 7000 cheaper! I used to be a wedding coordinator and I have seen so many people pay much more money to have a better chance of having a sunnier day, but end up with a day that is just as cold and rainy as what we get in winter. I can anticipate for having a rainy and cold wedding day and if it happens to be sunny on the day its a bonus :) we also chose to marry on the 18th as my H2B considers it his lucky number

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Jun 2017

We were thinking Spring 18 then were lucky enough to win our venue in a raffle to be used between Jan - Mar 18. So March it is

I misscarried in October 2015 & our baby would have been due on the 4th May 2016. I wanted an even year to get married so we picked 2020 & 2nd May as that's the closest to what would have been our babies 4th Birthday & it falls on a Saturday

Me and summer don't mix, the heat makes me ratty so wanted something in between. We married on 16th August. Perfect combination. But without realising it till nearer the day, the day was also special as it was the anniversary of the day I had my 12 week scan 6 years prior

We chose our date in October as it was the day we first met, it's also a weekend and the first day of half term so we can get away for a little while in half term as I am a teacher! xx
