What 'surprise' extras can you expect with a package deal with a venue? I know there's corkage but I'm not taking my own alcohol and food, toast and arrival drinks, decorations are included in my quote but I'm being told by too many people that there will be £3,000+ surprise fees
Check if your quote includes VAT and then go through what it includes with fine detail eg linen hire, chair covers, cutting the cake up for your guests etc. VAT is the big one I have found though. Good luck x

Depends on the venue, but yes look out for additional costs that might not have been included like VAT, cake stand and knife, menu tasting, crockery and linen, microphones for speeches, cakeage (cost of cutting your cake for you) cleaning. Most venues now included these within package prices but some still charge extra for them! Also my venue charges an extra £25.00 per hour for any additional meetings outside the 2-3 meetings with our wedding coordinator that are highlighted in our contract. Having worked in the industry this sort of cost is also rare but does exist at some places!
Watch out for exclusivity fees and check the coatings for cutlery and crockery hire is accurate.
I would check table linen and VAT is included
So we have only started looking but I can't believe how expensive it all is! We want the venue to to be exclusively ours and for some places you have to hire the venue out plus all the additional costs!!!! However we have found a few that are reasonable. Only this I can say is shop around everywhere is slightly different x
