I'm really stuck on venues. We live in the far north of Scotland but most of my family and my partners family and friends live in england. Do we pay travel costs to get up here and accommodation? I'm just worried they won't come as it will be costly for them

If it's just the two of you up north I'd say pick a venue in England and maybe stay with family for a couple of days before the wedding? And you paying for travel and accommodation would be very expensive, you might want to invest that money in your big day. Good luck!

Hi I agree with Diana it would be much cheaper for you to go to England than pay for people to travel to Scotland :)

I don't think you are expected to pay for people's travel. You'd be surprised at who might come up for it too. I didn't think any of my family would come across but most are coming (or so they said!) once you have an idea of month/year you could ask people if they'd come, then you'd have a better idea.

I am in the same boat, so we are getting married at a venue on the border so it is equal distance for everyone and people can stay over in bedrooms on site so its not a hassle for anyone to stay :)

Me and my htb moved to Wales last year when all our family and friends live in England. We decided as this is now our home, we wanted to get married here. It might be as far to travel as your family, but so far we haven't had anyone tell us they don't want to come due to the travel and accommodation; even evening guests. Wem an aged to get a discounted price at local hotel for people to book themselves. Have your wedding where you want it and those who want to be part of your special day will be regardless.

My friend organised a coach for her wedding. It picked guests up at 9am and left to return at 11pm. The family and friends that care enough won't be bothered by the distance and it's a nice wee holiday for guests too. Maybe recommend a local beauty spot or castle to visit the day after.
