Hi, Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on traveling to a wedding where please. As we have found a perfect venue, has our date and an amazing special offer available but its 9 miles from where we live and my mum and partner say people won't travel that far. I personally would travel this distance to see someone I loved celebrate but wondered what others thought please x

I think they would travel. My future sister in law got married miles and miles away from where most of us live and we all happily traveled. I'd say don't worry about it!

9 miles, that really is not far, I travel more than that to go shopping.
I'm quite sure your guests would travel that far for your wedding,

9 miles is nothing, and as you say, if people want to share your special day they will be there.

I am pushing it even further and getting married in Italy, so my family are having (and are) travelling hundreds of miles). Good luck - it's your day so make sure it is special for you.

I don't think 9 miles is far at all! People will travel, and it sounds like it is your perfect venue!

My venue is 14 min drive from my house and people are complaining about it my sisters wedding is 30 min away from my house and everyone is in a tizzy about it but it's 2 hours away from her house so just ignore what everyone says

That is far at all. If people want to come to your wedding they will make the arrangement to come (whether they travel on the day or stay somewhere near by). My family lives all over the country and all of them plan to make the effort to come. I myself have been happy to travel to many weddings no where near me. I went to my friends wedding in Poland last year!

I don't think 9 miles is that far, I would do it, especially if the ceremony and reception is all in one place and there's no travelling between them, but even if there was - so what, its a wedding. It I care about the person getting married of course i will do it.

If people want to be at your wedding - They will travel for it. If we get married in the venue we like, it will be at least 20 miles for everyone to get too, but we have travelled almost 300 miles for a wedding, and in March we are travelling to New Zealand just for a wedding (Plus abit of sightseeing of course) . If you love the venue that much and it is what you want, then do it. You will be surprised how many people will make the effort. To those who can't - Their loss.
