I need some help from the lovely members. I'm getting married August 2018 at 2pm and I need a photographer. We are not having a first dance or a disco as we can't afford anything big so we only need a photographer from me getting ready (this is still being debated because we don't know what the arrangement are for the night before) until we cut the cake, which is only going to be 4 hours or so. Every quote I've had has been £300+ for a half a day then the photos are extra. I just wondered what other people payed for what they had and how to get these quotes down, because we simply can't afford what we have been quoted

That sounds like a good price, I don't think you will get much cheaper than that. My photographer is £900 for the full day and includes the photos on a memory stick, we thought we had landed a bargain with that package. Good luck

I think £300 is a fair price. If you want to make sure you should shop around. I would suggest getting an album as well, we definitely will be getting an album in the package we choose. If you only get digital copies with the thought of making ur own album later don't! Everyone I know who has done this to save money has ended up with no pictures printed from their wedding! Also make sure your photographer includes the copyright to the pics, otherwise you can't print them elsewhere!

Try groupon they have really good offers on wedding photography. Ive paid £400 for the whole day x

You could also go to your local arts college and see if a student wants to do it cheaper/free. Put all the pictures onto a disc or stick and they can use what they want for their portfolio xx

£300 is s good price.

We had from bridal prep to first dance. All pics on cd and selected pics in an album for £660 and that was at a friends discount. Other people quoted near £1000 for all that.

Try local college that offers photography courses. You should be able to get someone reasons priced. ( they wouldn't offer you a beginner) x

We are only having the photographer for the ceremony up to the wedding breakfast. Ours is £500 which includes all the photos on a usb stick. Unfortunately they aren't cheap. Do you have any friends or family that are keen photographers

There are great offers on groupon . I got a half day deal with a USB stick full of edited pics fir £250. Getting ready to cutting the cake.

If you can't afford that, why not ask a family member? We have asked my fiance's father. It's a good way for them to feel involved if you are doing it all yourself too.

we paid £170 as didnt want to over spend plus only wanted photos of us getting to church the ceremony and after :) we also wanted all pictures taken and just put on a memory stick only a few edited as my mum can edit photos :) to save money get a family member to be with you to take photos of you getting ready saves alot of money and time x

If your on a budget then your local uni / college will probably have a photography society, so get in contact with them and I'm sure you'll get something more reasonable, remember that you do get what you pay for though, and this is your special day!

Really good price - I've paid £1700 for full day with silver heart encrusted USB and a large glass album but I chose my photographer based on his work and experience, his photos are amazing and he is a talented guy so shop around but it's worth it x

We paid £300 from me eyeing ready (around 1:30) to cutting the cake/speeches and first dance at around 8. This included 3 cds of pictures, a large print and a photo book. I'm in County Durham xx

Thats an amazing price. We are paying £3k for a full day! Try looking on gumtree or local colleges. People trying to build a portfolio might do it for free then you can pay someone to put it into an album which shouldnt cost much. Obviously its a bit risky as you dont know quality of photos.

Or get a video camera and have some filiming then take stills from that. X

Hello, if you are on a budget this could be a great alternative for your wedding day. I was at a wedding fair and these people was advertising packages Infinitydigipix.co.uk, they leave cameras for you and your guests to take photos and they put them onto a usb stick for you! They are very reasonable and you would have that personal touch on your wedding day also. Not sure where you are based though so if they can not travel you might be able to find something closer to home hope this helps x

Ours is £1300 for the full day, I think that's a bargain. Of all the things to cut back on most people regretted a photographer. Remember these are all you're gonna have to remember the day by, I honestly think that's a good price for such an important part of the day x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 May 2017

From getting ready until just after the first dance we have paid 1500. So if you are being quoted 300 that's really good. But just remember photos are the one thing you have forever from the day so it's worth paying more for the quality x

Look on "Groupon" hunny. I got my photographer for the whole day with a 30 photo album for £450

Speak to Dotty Photography. They might do £300 for half a day incl photos.

www.dottyphotography.co.uk

But you are asking a wedding photographer in peak season to book a half day over someone else who might want a full day. So £300 is definitely a reasonable price.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 May 2017

I'm paying £895 for half a day including a memory stick so I think it's a great price . make sure you check all of their details and look at albums of their work.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 May 2017

£300 for half a day is very reasonable. Don't forget you are not just paying for the half day but also for the hours the photographer will put in to editing the photos. Maybe go to local colleges as others have suggested and try to find someone starting out. They may do it cheaper if they haven't built up a reputation.

I am getting married august 2018 too and due to low budget not having a photographer, have asked a couple of friends specifically who have decent cameras and will be setting up 'Veri' app for the day as from my experience of 1st wedding the photos from guests were the ones I liked the best

Try Paul cartwright. He's on Facebook. Booking him for my wedding and the photoshoot he done for me was perfect

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 May 2017

We're paying £500 for 8 hours - £300 is a good price and you probably won't find much cheaper and if you do, I'd question the quality

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 May 2017

That's a fair price to be honest. You won't find anyone for much less than that.

Also don't forget that if someone takes your booking then they are unable to take another for that day, they can't say to a bride "I'm just popping off to take some photos of someone else's wedding for a few hours, be back in a few"

UKbride Administrator

Try Emtphotos Eddie Trainor speak to him he will try help you
