Hi there, I'm wondering if any1 can help, I'm currently trying to sort out wedding insurance but my partner has a heart condition that will see him needing a valve replacement, but there is no telling when it will need to be done, he has yearly check ups at a heart hospital and just pray each time that the doctor is going to say not this time, but the last time we went we was told that it's weakening so we know it's coming but like I said don't know wen, every wedding insurance company that I've been looking at won't cover existing health conditions , has any1 else had this trouble

Instead of approaching wedsing insurance companies try an insurance broker or one that specialises in ill health insurance. They should be able to talk to the insurance underwriters and create one for you.

Most wedding insurers only cover for supplier failure. Rather than covering the bride and groom :( x as someone above has said may be worth talking to an insurance broker to see if they can work something out x

Yes I have had this problem.

No company covers existing conditions.

The only way to do it is to plan your wedding a reasonable time in the middle. That's what I did. He was due a check up in the September we got married in the June. That way it was enough time after an appointment for an op if needed and recovery but enough time before that it's shouldn't change last minute.

Maybe talk to your suppliers, our venue we're happy for us to postpone the wedding if we needed just by changing the date and paying a bit extra towards the deposit (but without loosing our original deposit), also photographers etc are normally happy as long as you are only changing date and not cancelling all together. Just a thought x

How far away is your wedding? Was it a congenital condition? My husband has exactly the same (congenital) but don't even remember the insurance asking about any health conditions? Ask your husband to talk to his consultant and try and plan around. Most valve replacements now are lower risk and need not even mean open heart surgery and your husband may be out and recovered in a week. Try not to worry and good luck! Xxx
