I went with Big Day Productions, they have loads of photographers on their books all over the country. The photographers do other photography work (like advertising, modelling ect) to make their wage which means they can charge less for doing weddings. Once you book with them in a month or so the person near you who has been chosen to do you wedding will message you to introduce themselves and will meet up with you 4-5 weeks before the wedding to see what you want them to do on the day. I have seen the work of my photographer and she does amazing work. My package cost £375 but there are others available :) I hope this helps :) Good luck xxxx

Shop around, look at packages on offer and take bits out that you could do without. We're paying £475 but not having the getting ready bit as I can do that myself, and I don't want pics of the little things like favours etc so cutting that out. Just don't over think what you want, you have to be realistic about what you will get for your money x

I shopped around and went with a local independent photographer. I paid £300 for photos from the bridal party getting ready right through until we cut he cake and had the first dance. We got cds with the pictures, a photo book and large print. The photos weren't as professional as some others would have been but we loved them and for the money we were really impressed. I'm in County Durham if you want recommendation?

Please please don't scrimp on your photos this was the biggest mistake we did! I now have only a handful of photos from the day that guests took as the photographers were awful :(

Get one that just puts them on a disc with no prints. Then wait til photo box has 70% off sale. That's what we did. Found someone who wanted to start a port folio so it was first wedding. Had albums printed. Think we spent £150 in total for two massive albums, loads prints, two discs of pics and the photographer. Got lucky there.

Big day productions are amazing. I chose one of the more expensive packages and it's still only cost £525, so much is included in the price too. The cheapest package they do is about £250 and they cover the entire UK. Good luck.

Maybe try the local uni or even ask friends if they know anyone. I put a post up about needing one and an old school friend said her dad did photography as a hobby. He did the whole day for us for £150 with all pictures on a disc. :-)

Don't scrimp on photos. I was lucky as my mum's cousin and her husband have a wedding photography business and did the photos for us but it is one of the most important things you will pay for. Your day will flash by believe me and you will want something to look back on and be able to see all the little details that you either neglected or missed. Plus it is something to share with your family for years to come. If you have to let something go in order to afford the photographer you want my advice is do it. People won't miss the chocolate fountain or the confetti balloon but you will cherish your photos forever.
