If you're on the regular pill you can just skip the placebo part and continue with the active pills but otherwise I would speak to your doctor hun xx

Hello, yes go see your doctor :-) if you start on the pills a couple of months early, you might not feel as bloated as your body will become used to them :-) you would just continue taking the pills instead of coming off for your regular period. Take some period heat pads for your tummy just incase :-)
Have a lovely day xx

Norethisterone. Need to take them a few days before though, and prepare for the period you have after to be awful! So if you're heading straight on honeymoon maybe try going on the pill for a couple months and just not having the break.

Norethisterone is the best temporary measure, I always seem to be the same when going on holiday. Used them a few times with no side affect and they definitely do the trick xxx

Norethisterone Hun! I use them because I had a coil fitted and my body reacted to it and was bleeding heavily when it was suppose to stop.
Take them a few days in he run up to your wedding and they will stop/delay your period until you stop taking them.
My holy grail at the moment xx

I had pills from the doctor to delay mine by ten days, which got me through the wedding and the honeymoon.

Yes,the doctor can prescribe something. However,it isn't a contraceptive so be sure to take some extra precautions. If you still have time, and it's an option for you, running 2 packs of a combined pill can prevent your period from arriving as well

Tranexamic acid is a good one to ask the doctor for! x

Norethisterone does work, but because you have to take it from a couple of days before, for me it meant I had the bloating and PMS for the entire time I was taking the tablets, which was horrendous and I can imagine wouldn't be great for a wedding. But if you've got time, you could take them anytime from now for a week or two to permanently shift your cycle on.

Like the other ladies have said though, the period after is awful, but definitely worth it in this case xx

For pain releif if not delayed:

I used to have methanamic acid prescribed when I was a teenager which worked wonders!

Another alternative...Dr can prescribe a stronger 500mg naproxen compared to the over the counter femenax.

Go in the pill and time it so that your period will be delayed your doctor should be able to help

You can get some pills from the doctor that fools your body into thinking you're pregnant, I had some for a holiday once, but I'll never take them again! just be warned that the side effects turn you into an uncontrollable hormonal mess! one minute ur happy, the next your a b!tch, the next ur crying ur eyes out for no reason...I'd rather take the period!

I have the same issue. Go see your doc and they will prescribe you something. I would delay your period the month or two before though as I find the tablets make me a bit nauseous xx

Right I just went on honeymoon I went to doctors as I knew I was gonna be on doctor was so adamant that I would not get them on nhs again made me feel awful for asking they gave me 10 days worth of tablets they said ideally you should go doctors well in advance to take hormonal tablets and change the pattern of your cycle rather than these tablets think they come with few risks and don't like giving them out I however still had spotting the whole way through but was better than a full period hope that helps

Norethisterone prescribed by a doctor stop your periods, take them a few days before you're due on, think it's three per day. They can mess up your cycle though x

Yea i had pills from the doc i took them 3 days befor the wedding as i was due that day, i can see everyone complaning about them but i was fine no pain no bloating nothing they were brill, i stopped them 2 days after the wedding then u will get s period, x

You can but I also suffer with periods and didn't help me with sickness etc that I normally get. What I would do next time is take them the month or 2 before to try to get my cycle effected instead of on the day. Worth trying or go speak to the dr anyway and see what they say. Helps if you're regular though with tablets x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 28 Apr 2017

I got some tablets from the doctors, can't remember the name but i took them a week before the wedding while we are away after x

UKbride Administrator

Yes there is a type of contraceptive pill that stops your period ask your GP he will be able to prescribe it. I was on it for many years and wouldn't recommend it long term as it caused me some major medical probs. But short term I think it would be fine.

Get the contraceptive pill. I actually stopped mines to have it this week and have no restarted it so I don't have it!! Xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 28 Apr 2017

I went on to the contraception pill for my wedding as I would have been due around the day of my wedding and honeymoon. Go to your doctor and speak to them about it and they'll prescribe the best one for you. Xx

I used to take a 21 day pill. If I was going on holiday during my 7 days off (when I got my fake period), I would just keep taking my pills. It was fine, no side effects.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 28 Apr 2017

I'm feeling a bit the same although I'm hoping the period will be here and gone before the wedding as I don't want to be bloated. I'm avoiding these pills as I'm on the coil and don't react too well with period pills x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 28 Apr 2017

I use Mefenamic Acid tablets, prescribed by my doctor for severe period pain; it's effective and quick. Go get some! And have a wonderful wedding day :)

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 29 Apr 2017

You can buy tablets called "period delay" from the boots prescription website for about £15 for 10 days worth. U just fill in a form and they post them to u. I've used them loads of times for holidays etc. X
