Hi I used to do facepainting and I found that this age wasn't the best for it. Kids that young didn't tend to like sitting still and could get upset. (also might not be the best in case it rubs off on your dress etc). Have you maybe googled it as I know (depending on your area) there are some companies that entertain the kids for a couple of hours with activities etc that are age appropriate to get their attention.xx

My SIL put toys in a bag. Age appropriate and some disposable cameras. I imagine there will be some fun photos on them

When my cousin got married, they had someone to assist with children - the children ate in another chicken nuggets etc but they also had coluring books, puzzles and games to play.

If you can have a safe space that you can corner off. You can hire soft play and ride ons which will keep them entertained

We got married Saturday, 11 kids, had a magician / balloonist, everyone said how great it was. He certainly captivated the kids for 90 mins

Maybe a balloon maker for a couple of hours, lots of fun! Also less hassle than a face painter as you won't be worried it will wipe off on your dress xx

We filled a wooden crate with glows ticks, colouring books, crayons and a dvd (there was a TV and dvd player in the lounge bit). We also had giant garden games

Or just let the parents deal with entertaining their own kids...or if they're yours then assign grandparents/aunties/uncles etc!! I'm sorry but if a person chooses to bring their kids to a wedding then it's their responsibility to make sure that they're fed, watered and entertained - just like you would at a restaurant if you went out for dinner! Why should you pay extra on top of what's already an expensive day to entertain 'a few toddlers' who will probably end up sleeping at some point anyway (our son was 2 when we got married and we just made sure his buggy was handy for him when he got tired - there was plenty of volunteers to push him up and down for a bit)

I would let a child with face paint on anywhere near my nice white dress 😂

I thought of a face painter but then thought perhaps it wasn't the best idea when kids are in their best clothes, they rub their faces on their shoulders etc so I decided against it. I've since booked a balloon artist, 4x the price of the face painter but I think it was the best idea and will be for 2 hours into the evening reception. Hopefully they start getting tired after that and fall to sleep lol

I'm in the same position but thinking of using a projector and sticking a couple of Disney films on in the other room - apparently other guests have done this before ?

I'm not into turning 'your' wedding into a crèche to be honest. I think it's the parents responsibility to keep their kids in check and entertained etc, however my wedding was in the summer. I only had 7 kids in total and the only really young one (aged 2) was my own son. My parents and brother & SIL did the looking after of him and the other kids helped out but we did have garden games for after the service, giant jenga, quoits, giant connect 4 etc etc. That seemed to cover the age range then in the evening they all danced, played in the photo booth and my 2 year old was in bed with a babysitter with him.

We made up little gift bags for the children attending our wedding, they included a colouring book crayons a small toy. A table top game again a small one like jumping frogs. And a little sweet treat. This seemed to keep them very entertain children were aged between 2-5 xx

The kids don't need entertainment, they will be so busy playing with each other they will be fine. If you have any older children there you will find they will play with them automatically as well. It's amazing how kids keep themselves entertained when at special occasions. They're just happy eating, dancing and running around.

My friend went to a christening once and they had a storyteller I thought that was quite nice...then it means no scares of getting face paint on your dress

At the end of the day your paying to entertain the guests with music in the evening etc so why not get something a little more entertaining for the tiny people. If you have an outdoor space and also have slightly older kids too a bouncy castle would be great or a soft play area. We had a small section with soft play shapes and hoppers in. Younger kids loved it kept them entertained and safe. Adults could relax a little more and even the older kids enjoyed it.

i had 18 children to my wedding last week aged between 1 month - 12 years, they all got a little bag with lego or puzzle, colouring book and pencils, bubbles, glow sticks, biscuits and sweets and a sticker book, The babies got a little teddy teether and a book. Every table had selfie sticks on the children loved these i cant wait for the photos to come back from them. The children went and played outside with garden games ect they entertained themselves with what they had, i loved having all the children there it made everyone smile, do you want children with painted faces in your pictures? xx

I had 7 aged between 3 and 11 and we had a separate colouring table for them. I bought a load of colouring pencils and colouring books and during the afternoon reception they entertained themselves. I also had a big room so they had space to play together. At night, I was so happy to see them all running around and skidding on their knees on the dancefloor. I hot them all glow sticks and those that they make necklaces and bracelets with, all very inexpensive and they were all as good as gold.

Not on the highstreet have these little activity packs, can make your own superhero mask, mermaid, pirate, fairy wand ect they cost about £1.50 each, they also have personalised packs with a big picture of their name to colour in, puzzles ect which are about the same price, i'm just getting a bunch of those for kids, i want them to have something to do but i don't want to be paying too much, as people have already said it's already really expensive and it's the parents job to keep them entertained.

Parents might not thank you for a face painting, little girls in pretty dresses & boys in suits plus face paint is a disaster waiting to happen for their nice clothes. maybe have a kids corner with a few games/toys and activity packs for during the meal. good luck for the big day :)

I got married years ago and we had loads of kids. No problem, I borrowed an empty field and hired a couple of sheepdogs and a shepherd. Kept them amused all day plus they all slept well that night :-)

We had a games table at ours. And also gave the kids bubbles and colouring stuff with there favours. Our sweet cart also kept the kids entertained as well lol.. it is however up to the parents to sort that out. Most kids will run and dance anyway with the music :) x
