I'm a similar height and tried on lots of different styles. I went with the one that fitted my body shape more than my height as I'm wearing heels, however the dresses didn't look much different with or without heels. Hope you find the one! Xx

I'm 5"1. I went for a short dress but on me it's more of a tea/ballerina length, to my mid calf. This is my dress

Only way to know is to go in to a store and try some on! Ideally take shoes of a similar height to your wedding shoes xxx

Short dresses can make you look even shorter! Beware! Just dress for your body shape and try loads on, you will know when it's the right one trust me. It's all about you and what you want xxx plus trying on loads of dresses is half the fun xxx

Depends on body type more so than height...so try loads on and also ask what the people in the shop think , they will have an idea what will suit your shape :)

I'm just under 5ft & thought a 50's prom style dress would suit me! I was wrong lol you need to try on all different styles to see what suits you. I did this & fell in love with a dress which was completely opposite to what I had imagined x

I'm 5ft2 and I found that mermaid/fitted gowns made my body look longer and legs shorter. I didnt realise until a good bridal shop pointed it out when helping find one to suit me :) i have gone for an a line x

I'm 5"1 and have a small bust and no bum or body curve!
I would say don't go for a short dress - it can make you look and feel shorter than you are. Also maybe avoid full skirted ball gowns as you can get lost in the big dress when you're not a very big person but really it's all about what you feel good in.
Not sure about mermaid, I couldn't walk in one when I tried it, felt like my knees where tied together! I went for an A line in the end but in my head it was totally opposite to what I wanted however I instantly fell in love . When you try on 'the one' you will know! :-) X

You really have to go and try each style on there is no right or wrong answer, I disagree with comments you can't wear a ball gown in my opinion that is a load of tosh! I'm 5ft 1 and have a ball gown, bit you do really need to go try on what suits your particular body. Have fun trying xx

I'm 5ft 1 and I went with an 'A' line dress. It worked well with my height and build.

You won't know what suits your height and your body shape until you go and try them on. Don't have any ideas in mind just go open-minded and try all and any styles and lengths. Oh and enjoy trying them on x

Go along to a bride shop and try all styles on as that the best way to tell plus dresses look better on than off

I'm 5ft and had no idea where to start in searching for my dress! All I knew was that I didn't want to look shorter hehe the best thing to do is to try on all different style dresses, I ended up with the complete opposite to what I thought would work for my height! Good luck! 😊 xx

I'm 5ft 4 and found that mermaids made me look short and went for an a line but classic sheath style qouks have been good too. Try 'em all on is.My advice

Im 5ft4 and i suit mermaid style dresses more, i think it depends what you feel you look best in!

UKbride Member 13 Apr 2017

Just my opinion here but i would go for a cliched in waist and shorter length so midi or tea. I think ball gowns and mermaids are the wrong style for this height and can appear to swamp the bride , i am 5'6 and struggling with the length of my mermaid dress i want it shorter above my shoes.

I think when you try on THE dress you'll just know. I'm going to try on every shape possible to know what suits better
